We got a RR push of around 200 streams daily this friday, 1 week after release. Popularity score 15%.
Kyle - I've been researching this area for about 2 years now & this is one of the best videos on Spotify Algos I've come across. Really well put together & look forwards to catching more of your content. Cheers, Neil.
Thank you for your kind words, Neil! I am glad you enjoyed.
You definitely deserve a larger following here on RUclips. I hope that happens for you, because you explained all of this very well. This is very helpful information, thank you for providing it.
Thank you! This is a brand new channel and I'm eager to work towards building a following. Tell a couple friends about the channel and stick around for the ride!
This is an excellent description of Spotify’s algorithm.
Great video. This definitely helps me understand the algorithm much better. Great explanation. Subscribed. 👍🏽👍🏽
Great insights, Kyle - thank you!
Just leaving a comment so the algorithm knows I want more great content like this.
This guy gets it 😎
I really like the analytical approach to this! Thank you so much for the info 🙏
You're welcome!
nice edit, a bit lengthy but good to go over all the info in detail.
my most popular song got on DW some three years after its release on an album. Didn’t even make a music video for it. I think it was because someone famous put it on their playlist and the popularity score shot up for a week or two.
Very useful. Thankyou!
Man, I been sayin' the same about the release radar. Thanks for verifying this hypothesis.
You're welcome - thanks for watching!
I had 2 songs of mine who were picked up on discover weekly: "Nuove Lacrime" and "Per un friend". both of them performed well! i'm still so proud of them
The best feeling ever!! Congrats - hope DW treats you well!
nice work. Good education :)
I sorta like spotify but a main issue that I noticed is that is algorithm just loves to keep repeating songs over and over again no matter what songs I looks up and like as well as the 1000+ songs in my playlists but they just don't suggest that many new songs and just plays what I listened to within in the last hour.
Yep I have this issue all the time as a music consumer on Spotify - I get stuck listening to the same stuff over and over.
I just got a stream on release radar yesterday, exactly 4 weeks after it dropped. Is this an indication that it will get more streams from there?
We have a song on DW right now. 3500 saves in 28 days.
Congrats - and thanks for sharing!
What is DW?
Hi Kyle, I just discovered you on RUclips. I subscribe to so many "experts" who are more flashy and loud than substantial in their information.
I have filled the form on your website in hope to have the pleasure of working with you.
Great video and information Kyle! I'll be in touch. - Genesis7
almost all my songs now get a big RR boost, primarly due to ads, and sometimes I get smallish DW, some songs got to 30 popularity and didnt make DW at all. The mystery to me is Radio, I dont get enough in this area and Im not sure how to boost it. Radio seems to be more of a mystery to me than the others for some reason. I know some artists that consistently get thousands of Radio streams - so it would be great to know how to crack this one!
Yep Radio is the one algorithmic placement that doesn't have a clearly understood threshold... at least not yet!
Spotify now considers the "Radio" algorithmic playlist as an "Editorial" now. It's weird. I think Spotify wants to fool indie artists by making them think they have made it to a "real" editorial, but it's a lie.
this mf! damn I have no words, just thank you so much man omg! What I've just seen???
do you think I should release it every 3 weeks or 6 weeks?
4-8 weeks is my official recommendation.
I've got more than 20k saves during 2022 & 2023. This action from Fans, made my "Fans also Like" feature so strong (Sick Individuals, Michael Calfan, Seeb, Arty, Audien, Laidback Luke, Yves V, Syn Cole, Dubvision & other EDM Music stars like this. I've pitched more than 35 songs to editorial Playlist consideration but they've not accepted any of them yet. I've been pitching My songs since February 2022 😔
That's a star-studded Fans Also Like 🤩 Keep submitting for editorial consideration - it will be a near impossible game for most, but it costs you nothing and has the other benefits I mentioned in the video.
Recwntly subscribed, very good content. Just watched your Facebook ads video. I’d be worried about messing up the Spotify algorithm if the audience you create is not made up of people who really like your music. Have you ran into this atal?
Thanks
I see this a lot with new/prospective clients who are approaching me for the first time. They may have used a suspicious promotion method before which caused their Fans Also Like to train improperly, and they hire me to help steer it back in the right direction.
Very informative video. My track got a popularity score of 30% and it got more than 1k streams from 1k listeners on spotify. I think it's the higher the popularity score, the higher the streams from discover weekly. Imagine how many stream i will get with a score of 50% or 70%. What do you feel?
I don't have any data on how the popularity score correlates to additional discover weekly streams. At least, not yet - it would be cool to start crowd-sourcing this info for the future.
