A couple things: the solo during part two was a baritone not a Mello (although half the Mello line learned bc of course they did) the ballad had an alto and a flugelhorn duet, and if you look at the forms throughout the slowly start to work towards being if not one big block at least one similar form through the ensemble. At the beginning forms most of the different sections are doing different shapes, but by the end everyone is in blocks. Overall, really cool to hear your feedback on our show
This uniform is Vista Ridge's traditional uniform. If fits in really well with the show's design and I believe allowed the organization to save the money that would go towards unique uniforms and put it towards their travel to the Rose Parade this year. This show really developed into an incredible spectacle as the year progressed. The staff began to develop their ideas and the students really took that direction and implemented it at the high level you are hearing here. Vista Ridge is in what may be America's best school district for marching band. The rest of the school district is: Vandegrift (previously reviewed on this channel and current Texas 6A state champ), Leander (BOA 3A and UIL 5A). Cedar Park (BOA 3A and UIL 5A and current 5A state champ 3 times in a row), Rouse (BOA 3A and UIL 5A), Tom Glenn (BOA 3A and UIL 5A). Each school puts out amazing shows each year and the school district marching band show (each band performs) packs stadiums every year. The shows are all quite unique and not a carbon copy of what the other schools are doing sound-wise or visually.
@@_j_i_jordan5691 Yep, Lewisville is excellent as well. It is the only other ISD to come close in Texas. But Lewisville also has 3 schools which aren't at the extreme level where Leander only has 1. The top 3 of Lewisville is probably stronger than the top 3 in Leander ISD but I choose to look at it as a whole.
I'm sure you've seen it already, but Vista Ridge's 2018 marching show “Lost and Found" (I was a sophomore from another Texas school at this time) was probably the most historically impactful show in UIL history. Not only did Vista Ridge win first place because of that show, but the show also symbolized how their band was lost ever since the school was established and they have been through quite a rough time. From ALMOST getting a 1 at UIL Region a few years prior to becoming the UIL 6A State Marching Band Champions. I did not get to see “Lost and Found" live (unfortunately we couldn't stay much longer) but I did get to see Flower Mound (who got 2nd place in that competition) and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. I was a little frustrated that they didn't win and when I saw the results, I was like “Vista Ridge, eh? Never heard of them." I then looked up their performance her on RUclips and I saw why they won...marching band sure is amazing for those who want the most out of it. @@chadcrow56 You're absolutely right. The rough time I'm referring to came from an interview with director Brian Christian (can't remember which video it was exactly) where he stated that when he first took them to UIL Region, they ALMOST got a 1. Since then, Vista Ridge has been climbing up and now they are one of the “highly elite", as I like to call those type of bands.
If you have an especially long thought that you want to say, personally I don’t mind if you pause the video to fully articulate it. Sometimes I feel like you miss interesting moments from the show when you’re speaking
Hey I wonder if you could watch and react to the Rockwall Marching show for 2023 we didn’t win anything big but I would like to see what happened with our show and see someone’s blind perspective
Please do Glenn High school from Leander Texas. Vista Ridge and them are rivals. Although Glenn is the newest school in the district, the improvement is insane.
This is one of their better shows. I enjoyed this much more than when they won State, I think, two years ago(?). I like the book for the guard but I wish they had a little more time with the season so they could be cleaner. They weren’t anticipating the beginning of the phrases, and hitting the points in space together which is so important for a successful presentation. I love this group and I’m looking forward to seeing what their winter guard show is, as well as their next year’s field show. You should come to TBA some year in San Antonio. I would love to meet you! The invitation is always open! 😊 Do you review/react to Winter Guard? I bet you would have great commentary on that sport!
My band isn’t comparable to all the other bands you have been watching but I would love it if you reacted to Plainfield North band 2022 (One Step Closer) and gave some feedback
Could you please do plainfield red pride marching band? I’m going to be a section leader next year and it would be helpful to know what we can work on!! (Our show this year was called Glow)

Personally I think that the best district is LewisvilleISD, which contains HEBRON, FLOWER MOUND, and MARCUS.

@@MichaelNaydeck rip Glenn 🙏
Can confirm that the Vista Uniforms are supposed to be in use until 2029, probably 2030 due to COVID.
8:01 Great job recognizing the subject matter underneath the design elements!

Vista Ridge has been a very successful program throughout school history. Not sure the rough time you are speaking of? 🤦♂️

You should watch Cedar Ridge HS they got 3rd at Texas UIL this year.
Please do Glenn High school from Leander Texas. Vista Ridge and them are rivals. Although Glenn is the newest school in the district, the improvement is insane.
Rivals? 😂
Not rivals. Sister schools. We love and support Glenn dearly!@@chadcrow56
