- CHP investigators say the tram at the Universal Studios Hollywood tour was making a turn when the last car hit a guardrail, tipping up and sending passengers flying. abc7.com/universal-studios-tr...
"I might still ride it though." I love that guy. I'm right there with you buddy. As long as it's not the same driver I'm good.
They already stated the brakes failed in the last car which means it wasn't the drivers fault since the other 3 cars brakes were still operational. They will probably put the blame on the Studio Tour Ambassadors who are suppose to be reporting when they notice something wrong on the trams and clearly they didn't report a issue with the tram at any point that night even though they have the trams sitting next to them when loading and unloading the guests so had the time to visually spot a issue with that last car before the brakes could have failed and the trams mechanics Check them daily before sending them out on tours and after returning for the day. Chances are there had been fluid leaking and the Tour Ambassadors instead of radioing over which tram was leaking just threw absorbent on the puddle and walked away each time it rolled through the station, had someone been notified a mechanic would have checked it out right away whether still in the station, at a waiting point during the tour, or once the tram returned to the station by having the tram taken off-line.
That tram is like a snail. Probably just bumped into something, but wait for the opportunists…
Some of them were ejected from the tram onto the concrete
sounds like free tickets for life
Don’t count on that 🤣😆 I work for universal they not giving out free tickets

So a tram traveling like 5mph hit a guardrail and that required people to be hospitalized? Yeah those are lawsuit seekers right there.
cha ching👍
That's 99% of people these days.
Its MSM what can we expect
Good. I won’t lose any sleep over a multi billion dollar company losing some money.
Even at 5 mph a sudden stop against a guard rail would have created a jolt, and there are no seatbelts, so minor injuries caused by banging against the seat in front of you is to be expected. The emphasis being on minor. Early reports claimed someone was in critical condition, but no details on how that could have come about. This whole story is seriously light on details a day later.
Why did it take 2 mins before we are told what actually happened? Im sitting here thinking "where's the accident description?"
You're supposed to tell us how it happened
Basically on a hiil section of the park the brakes failed on an older Tram that is suppose to be retired from service coming up in August.
Collided with a Guard rail?? How fast was the guard rail going ?
The Driver was a new hire, with only 7 shifts under his belt after the mandatory 3 week training class. Universal should never let new Drivers drive the tour at night until they have completed their 30 shift probation period. Not fair to the guests of the park or the new Driver who just lost his job. I drove up there for 9 years, so I know how middle management decisions affects the safety of the guests. Crashes are extremely rare, and the certified roster of tram Drivers have exceptional skills required to handle the 115’ trams that weigh up to 100,000lbs when full.
Interesting that you mention this. As an avid studio tour rider, I've noticed there seems to be a very concerning trend of taking that turn and slope down to Old Mexico from the Isla Nublar/Picture Car alley very fast. By this I mean not using the trailer brakes and letting the whole consist jostle and jerk all the way down. I initially thought this was the root of the incident here. Other times the newer guys will clip curbs, smash into other obstacles, or overshoot the gimbal platform in Kong/Earthquake/Fast and Furious.
Unfortunate but accidents happen.. I've always wanted to go there.
Crowded and over priced...it is.
We have passes & go on the tram tour every time. It's fun, go if that's what you want to do.
@@LaquetaHodge
Agreed
It's just so crowded.
Have fun and safe travels.
Oh, thanks you two. I will definitely have to go when it's not too crowded. Thanks again!
All its missing is a REAL Coaster! Universal needs to stop with all this lame ass Simulator crap! Give me Coasters, Dark Rides NO MORE SIMULATORS! Simulators are just a movie screen with a moving floor!
His name is "Willie Cheeks"..."Willie Cheeks!" 😅😂🤣

That means his wife is Mrs.Cheeks 💀😂😂

"It's the safest ride at any amusement park." Apparently not!

It was that 420 GKUA
While everyone is saying the tram only goes 5mph are forgetting that they're the same vehicles that take you up the hill to get to CityWalk. They are capable of going well over the 5mph. Former USH employee here.
Actually they are not the same vehicle, the ones that take you up the hill are the old former trams that been retired from doing tours. Former Stour Ambassador that has worked with on multiple versions of the trams.
@@WolfDShadow i didn't mean to sound like they're used unilaterally, just that trams aren't maxed at 5 mph
Wrong. The super trams used on the tour have a top speed of 8mph, and are completely different from the tug tram used on the front hill. I drove both the trams on the tour and front hill for 10 years.
@@BiggeDiehl appreciate the clearing up.
Admittedly it's been awhile since I worked there.
No one caught it on video? That’s strange
Not strange really, from what I've seen, there aren't a lot of people with their phones out on the tour. And anyone who would have taken their phones out AFTER the accident would probably first be asked to submit their video as evidence, and it's only when evidence is released that we see videos like that.
so this story had no details at all on how this happened like the title says, but im guessing since that tram goes about 5 miles an hour it might have misjudged a turn and hit something..people panicked and tried climbing over one another and thats how they got injured, but now all the ambulance chasing lawyers will come out of the woodwork and get the sue happy people to sue which will raise prices for everyone else...
@1:55. Guard rail
They already reported the last cars brakes failed but they had been reporting when the car lost control it hit a parking structure which was impossible since the Trams never get near the parking structures with guests on board so now they are reporting it hit the guardrail. The investigation will be why the brakes only failed in the last car and why it lost control. Also means none of the tour guides will be allowed to used the Car 5 joke during King Kong since you see a Tram car ripped from the rest if the tram and then saved by Kong before placing it on the ground for the guests to escape from the T-Rexs.
The CHP is investigating?
Yep it was labeled as a auto accident so it's in their jurisdiction since they have to clear DOT vehicles are safe to be on the road and the tram drivers have to have Class A Licenses with qualifications to carry passengers like a Bus in order be on the road. Remember the Studio Tour is on actual streets inside the film lot and those trams do also get taken off the lot and onto city street from time to time so have to be street legal aside from having seat belts since they are driven slowly.
@@WolfDShadow first of all Thank you for the informative comment I was thinking of the tram as an amusement park ride. I never knew the driver had to have a special license, but that does make sense because it is on a track.
I meant it "isn't on a track, but driver on streets in the park
this isn't news.
Norman Bates finally caught up to the tram
i love how the ABC who is owned by Disney is blowing this out of proportion on competitors
These news reports are often just come-ons... like this one is. It's already been widely reported that the last car on that tram hit a guardrail and that car tipped over. What I want to know is why the last car of the tram hit the guardrail hard enough to tip the car over. It's also been reported that one passenger is in the hospital with "critical injuries." Is that true or not?
What are the new details? It's the same thing I heard when it first happened. The tram tour doesn't go very fast. All the injuries had to be from the tram tipping over. There's also a tram that brings people up the hill from the Metro station. I think that would have more of a chance of being in an accident since it's on a public street and going up and down a steep hill.
Hahah some folks jumped for that check! 😂
The brakes went out on an old tram. Ridden this tour at least twenty times and never had a problem. Not sure why they decided to run the tour at night since usually the last tram would depart at 5pm. Under the circumstances the driver did pretty well. He purposely aimed for the guard rail versus going down the side of the mountain.
So what happened ?
What happened to the "Critically Injured" person that was reported earlier????
Critically overacting...
The cake is a lie.
I thought that was part of the ride..😂
I expect the studio publicity department to incorporate the incident into the tour.
They need to add seatbelt on the tram.
Which area of the tour tram is flipped over?
Someone need to check If , there is a relationship between tram-operator with any of the " injured ".
Getting tired of lazy people staging or creating accidents just to get money.
That's a reach
That tour has always been dangerous! Last time I went, my tram got attacked by a shark!
So instead of admitting your reporters LIED about the Studio Tour Tram crashing into a parking structure the Trams never come close to with guests you now pretend nothing was said about what the tram hit and now say it hit a guardrail. Now based on the statement guests were thrown from the tram that raises the question if the car flipped over since those cars get tossed around during the tours and nobody is ever tossed from the trams even when the tram is leaning to the side, or were those people not following the safety rules and were not seated when the tram crashed.
I hope everyone is okay
NoT surprising. A golf cart driver rammed into our tram ride somehow. I really don’t know if he mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal or what.
Really?.. unbelievable!..I wonder how that could happen?🤷♀️??
THE ONE THAT YOU GET ON ONCE YOU GET THERE OR INSIDE THE PARK???
It’s the one inside. It goes like ten miles an hour if that.
This didnt show a damn thing
Oh dear!
That was just part of the slow and furious ride
😂 People are so dramatic these days 😂 100%, those who took the hospital precautionary trip will be the first to sue the park
Wait doesn't the tram go slow like 20 mph or 15 mph?
i used to live a block from the studio and had a pass and went there almost every day and ate meals at City Walk i rode the tram countless times and on several occasions saw people from the studio driving recklessly in the lil golf cats and often thought a collision was eventual this happened right next to the Jaws show location
Avid Studio Tour enjoyer here, this is absolutely on point. I've seen Golf Carts speed around and even play Chicken with the trams.
How is this news?
Why is the CHP investigating this? 😂
BROWN Mark / Mark Brown,,
where were you when this accident happened!?!?
did IgerBot have a role in this accident as well '.'

Didnt this happen in the 90s?

Lol news nowadays are so dramatic when they report on minor news stories.
I’m planning to go this summer with my friends and my neighbors kids . Hopefully it won’t happen when I’m there .

Not a single detail on how it happened.
Said it one I’ll say it again this people supposedly hurt should stop milking this incident for a cash pay out it’s ridiculous.
What is going on?
Nobody's dead, nobody has footage, there are no pics of any damage, not a peep from the "injured". They are milking TF out of this. I've been in one of these tram accidents. It ain't this serious.
I was reporting!
I heard Steve Austin was hurt and is suing for $6M
Might as well check the chain that pulls the boats up on the Jurassic World Ride, last time I was in there it felt like we went over a big bump
They just turn this a real movie.
this shouldn't be that big a deal
misleading headline
Liars! There were no details. Just an announcement from the park which may or may not be accurate. They're not likely to release a statement that makes them look bad, are they?
I’m still buying year passes for my entire family!
If it’s a Backlot Lot Tram…how do you fall out? Were you standing up at the time of the “crash”? Fall Out…Lairs!
Chp is involved because of the Trams size
I'm sure Daniel doesn't work for universal 😂
Incompetence with this new workforce of this time in history should be studied so it can be avoided in future generations
This has been happening for decades...something has got to be done to protect Americans from these dangerous trams. Terrible!...im crying right 😭, you can see the fear and terror on the faces of the riders. First the bridge collapse...and now this tragedy!?, this is an attack on American infrastructure. God help us🙏
Lol
Whole lotta yapping😭😭
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
We gotta have Trump as president again to stop this murderous rampage !
I took it once 15 plus years ago…Safer than a riding a bicycle 🚲❕
Tired, overworked, underpaid worker hit a guardrail. End of the day, turned a little early.
Shout out to my man Willie Cheeks
Geez, First the Bridge Collapse, then the Tunnel collapse, Subway crash, docks catching fire, street races, T-rex and now the tram hitting a guard rail. The Tram ride is obviously a dangerous ride and should be closed.
Maybe too much "girth" on one section of the tram hehe. I'll find out, family member works there.
NTSB?
I feel bad for the tram driver, universal always goes against their own employees. If you know about the hustle up there, you seen some stuff.
News media have to cover stuff, even if it's the next day, and the only people to interview are some who only heard about it later. Maybe the reporter should suss out where the tram-driver is being sequestered.
For the 60 anniversary, I am going
Overloaded the tram.
Should be interesting to see how Uv down plays this.
I think you are News 10 eyewitness from Left 4 Dead 2

Shit happens. Nothings perfect. Itll be years before crap happens again. Must if been operator error
Quite the surprise
We went on the tram 4 times today. 👍
Everyone is ok but summer is coming of this year
Dam Daniel 20 times 😂
Click lie bait details not here!
It was a guardrail
horrible click bait. makes it sound like there was a huge case to unwrap but turns out the tram just hit a guard rail. Meanwhile historic events are unfolding all over the world. common sense is long gone. i give this video an F- on all bases.
But did you die?
What's the new news......the drunk lady posting on tik tok about idiots getting off the team......
Willie Cheeks is scared 😅

It’s a glorified golf cart. Everyone will be fine. I’m sure they’re all suing though.
hmmm so Universal is about to open EPIC Universe and Tram Tour never having history of accidents now conveniently happens to have an issue???
This seems highly convenient for "the other theme park giant". Corporate sabotage anyone?
Willie Cheek gonna ride it. 😂
