Barb, I know I watched this live in your channel (you responded to at the end of Poo's laughter house), and somewhere in the video you mentioned how it helped streamers get recognized. I want to say thank you for adding me into the compilation of GPW2. I don't know how many times people come into my channel and was like "Hey, saw you from the GPW2 clips." I remember seeing your tweet from Meg Turney saying she watch Mitch's run. Here's to GPW3 being number 1 on Twitch!
The highlights for this and Invictus definitely got me into watching Twitch videos and introduced me to a lot of streamers. I did enjoy your suffering 😉

Yeah there's a lot of effort that goes into making a game, even a romhack. It's always amazing how much more time goes into creation than consumption. It feels like the balance is around 10 to 1 or 100 to 1 in terms of time spent. Months and years go by for the final product to be consumed within weeks and days. It's quite daunting to think about.

My favorite thing about Grand Poo World 2 is that, as much as it's possible in Mario, it feels like you're actually exploring a dangerous world, rather than just playing a bunch of hard mario levels in a row. I think it's because of the ship intro, the level endings, and the message boxes (even if they were mostly there for the puzzle), but I think it's really cool. Basically it's the only Mario hack with world-building. Awesome.
This is perfectly timed. I've been rewatching old GPW2 runs, because this hack remains my absolute favorite to watch. The music is absolutely on point, the little aesthetic details grab your attention, and the harsh but fair levels means that the skill on display is impeccable. It all just flows so well. I even rewatched the GDQ run. Twice. Seeing you play through this and giving commentary on everything is exactly what I needed.
I really appreciate the use of Geese Howard's theme for the tough final boss fight. Geese is one of the most famous bosses in fighting games made by SNK, and SNK's bosses are infamous for how difficult they are. Even the laughter after Bowser's defeat seems to be a homage to Geese's defeat in Fatal Fury, as he refused to be saved and fell off his skyscraper to death while laughing menacingly.
I’ve been watching the GPW2 highlights of all the streamers playing it and always wondered of a video of Barb playing it and kind of giving his commentary...and a couple days later Barb uploads this video. Amazing.

It was a really fun and difficult year playing through the game, but it was worth it. Thanks for making a great hack. Now im on to GPW2
53:45 this would have been a good opportunity to create a metal mario powerup. just change his appearance really for this level to make sense of the new underwater physics.
Barb, regarding the audio delay: They are referring to how your reaction is always late after you die. I've noticed this in every RUclips video I've watched. Haven't caught too many live streams but it's definitely noticeable on complete, edited RUclips vids. Thanks for the breakdown. Love all your content, love the passive attitude (no joke) and most of all I love watching the pros play your rom hacks. Keep it up, CJ84
@@thefranklin6463 I had no idea that was a thing. Thank you for that info. What is the reason for that? And why didn't Barb seem to know what the person was referring to? Maybe he thought it was something else unintentional going on? Like his vid wasn't synced or something? It just seems awkward with the reaction coming almost a second, if not a little longer, after the action/death. I think that's what the viewer was talki g about, though, in the video.
charlie johnson no prob! I actually don’t remember why he does the delay, but he’s explained it before on a previous vid so he has a reason (not that that is very helpful to know lol). I figured he was misunderstanding the question to be asking about an audio delay that was making the stream hard to watch and when he realized it wasn’t that and he didn’t need to fix anything, he stopped caring about it.
I didn't know about the 2nd Switch in Poo's Laughter House! I would have loved to see people do that without knowing. Imagine dying at Corn Dilly multiple times to finally clear it and that happen to you. Genius!

that desert level kicks ass! and i love the oil ocean port. wish i could just get the audio file of it and listen to it.
This was a really great rom hack you made. I liked the music in the castle where the final boss is.
55:54 this song is from Shovel Knight! "A Thousand Leagues Below"
Barb, I beat GPW 1 after a whole year of trying to beat it. It was hard with no instant retry and no way to save midways. I had to leave my snes on for days after midways. It was a really fun and difficult year playing through the game, but it was worth it. Thanks for making a great hack. Now im on to GPW2
This was great. I only wish there were more of these "Barb plays Kaizos again" videos. I'd watch them all.
the whole thing with the Poo's Laughter House level is a 4D level troll LMAO
Barb getting fake pissed about all the subs/donations happening while he's trying to talk about his romhack is peak Barb
53:45 this would have been a good opportunity to create a metal mario powerup. just change his appearance really for this level to make sense of the new underwater physics.
Barb, regarding the audio delay:
They are referring to how your reaction is always late after you die.
Keep it up,
CJ84
charlie johnson it’s an intentional stream delay. Some people delay the game play, others delay the webcam/mic

Ha! Ya, that's totally what happened, I'm sure! Thanks anyway, see you on another comment board.
Barb this is great I wanted to see you play your game and talking about it makes it even better, gracias 👌
I didn't know about the 2nd Switch in Poo's Laughter House! I would have loved to see people do that without knowing. Imagine dying at Corn Dilly multiple times to finally clear it and that happen to you. Genius!
There is a compilation made by Barb that shows people getting to that switch. Just search GPW 2 Compilation. There are 3 videos showing clips from peoples blind playthrough.
You know it's good when you wake up from a seizure halfway through.
i found barb from ryu's playthrough of this game. you're super expert no-skip runs quickly showed up in my youtube feed
I really love the music on Cahadrahas, com_poser did such a good job.
I am not watching SuperBowl, so this is great. Thanks.
this was just streamed, great job editing and getting out this great content so quickly
Could you imagine Mario as a real person traveling calmly through SMW and suddenly getting warped into this hellhole?
"What-a the fuck?"
_I never wanted to think about that, holy shit_
This game is seriously a masterpiece on every level. Kudos to Barb and to all who contributed.
Finally, something to drown out everyone watching the Superbowl around me.
I'm watching both the Super Bowl and this simultaneously. Super Barb weekend, it's pretty great.
Edgy
There is another thing you can participate in to drown out Superbowl: Corona. :D
Is there anyway to watch the vods from when he created it? I can't find it on twitch.
I would really appreciate it if someone knows.
wow grandpoobear made a masterpiece awesome. You are really good in it ! did u speedrun it ?
This is great I wish it had occurred naturally from a real life baby
XxChilerOutXx you realize Barb made the game, right?
@@williamr7416 He's probably joking. People joke around in Twitch chat a lot with Barb about Poo making GPW, and Barb plays along. Especially given how during the video Barb talks about decisions he made while making it.
@@williamr7416 woosh
I'd like to see more creators playthrough with commentary. Loved the vid
That opening perma ban at 3 min in was hilarious. :)
