Unpacking and the first run of the new Gauge 1 live steam gas fired Bowande M7 locomotive. This is the first part of two videos filmed on the White Horse Railway
Superb video, it is an excellent talk through of what is clearly a very well made model. Part 2 will add more detail to this enterprise, I understand thanks are due to Sue for this opportunity.
I would say it is quite well made but there are errors with it and it has that ‘made in China’ feel about it. I compared it directly to the Accucraft Victory and find this loco to be far superior in build quality. That said I do also like the M7 very much it just isn’t as well built and doesn’t run nearly as well as the Victory
Hi Pete, great video. Please May I ask, how much water in ml did you put in specifically and also what did you use to fill up the boiler using the enots valve? I have an M7 and am still perfecting the correct ml amount of water and the tubing I use for my regular water top up bottle doesn’t fit
Hi Dan, At present I do not know the volume of water in millimetres required to fill the boiler to a correct steaming volume. My boiler came with water in it, so I just topped it up to show 2/3rds full in the water level gauge, and have done so ever since. To fill the boiler I remove the Goodall valve from the back of the boiler and use a syringe until 2/3rds is reached in the sight glass then replace the Goodall valve. I agree that the hole in the Goodall valve is not quite right. I drilled a counter sink in the top of the Goodall valve so my plastic filler pipe would go in more easily. I also removed some silicon rubber from the one way valve inside the Goodall vale so it was less tight and would pass water into the boiler more easily.
@@peterspoerer1 lovely thank you Pete I did the same. My water top up bottle fits now and the tubing on the valve is now not as tight. I find ultimately it still isn’t as good as topping it up with a syringe so I think I will stick to this method. Thank you for your help

Welcome back Peter! Such an excellent video
It’s been a while hasn’t it? Good to see you’re back Peter!
Thank you. I had trouble up loading issues!
Aren't you the lucky one - mine can only pull one coach and expires before it's managed a single circuit of the track.
why is there no superelevation on the curves? a flat curve looks very unrealistic.
Super elevation is a total waste of time in Gauge 1 and leads to derailments.

I regret I do not measure the amount of water I put in for a run. I just fill the water gauge to 2/3rd full
