Absolutely superb! I wish I was old enough to have seen and heard the N7s in service, and to have been able to ride on the Jazz services. At least we have these recordings to transport us back to those lost days.
Peter Handford wrote a book - 'Sounds of Railways and their Recordings' - published by David & Charles in 1980. Well worth reading if you are interested in the background to these recordings. Also includes a discography.
Wow, that certainly brought back some memories and yes, I did know Bob Baker, an Enfield driver. He seem to be playing to the recording there and giving the engine a bit more than usual, I'd say. What do you think, Dave Tierney? ;)

My earliest railway memories are of what must have been N7s on the Jazz at London Fields. I was probably about 3 - before I started nursery school!
Oh wow that is fantastic!
Another superb Peter Handford recording thanks for sharing
Thanks for posting Bob. Peter Handford worked wonders, producing such quality recordings on ( by modern day standards) such unwieldy equipment.
