    I really appreciate you doing reviews including the Xperia 5 IV. For us interested buyers, there's so few RUclipsrs covering anything related to it.

    I would love it if you'd do a 3 way comparison between the Pro-i, the 1-iv and the 5-iv. I'm struggling to decide which one to buy

    • @s89kw
      @s89kw 2 года назад +18

      I have the pro i and 1 iv
      I did not buy 5 iv But through many views, I find it a powerful phone and a smaller size for some people who like medium-sized phones ، From my experience I will tell you Xperia 1 iv better than pro i In terms of weight, it is noticeably less Also, the speakers are louder and clearer Also, all cameras offer strong performance ، but with pro i The main camera is the best I've seen in my life compared to phones cameras
      But the wide lens and zoom you will find Xperia 1 iv better The other thing is the battery on Xperia 1 iv much better than pro i
      better by far، Wireless charging if you are interested in it, you will not find it in pro i
      The last and also important thing is the brightness of the screen, you will not be able to leave 1 iv After you see the high brightness of the screen ، honestly The pro i It has low brightness compared to 1 iv and 5 iv , What I loved most about pro i is the Main camera and the design of the phone
      But the design of 1 iv also It is beautiful and you will feel that it is more beautiful because of the light weight. In general, the beauty of the design may differ from one person to another. I cannot choose for you which one is the most beautiful, but I can only say my opinion، But in terms of other aspects, I told you, and I hope that you benefited, and I am of the opinion that Xperia 1 iv Better deal now than Pro i Because of the many features and I forgot to mention the new selfie camera on 1 iv Much better than previous Xperia selfie cameras

    I was so excited for the 5 mk IV as an upgrade for my 5 mk ii but I think I'm going to wait and see if a pro-i mk II gets announced and keep saving my pennies! Love to see it with a fully utilised 1" type sensor with variable aperture and a decent sized prime and fingers crossed an 8+gen 1 (or better!) telephoto

    • @AbsolutelyAbsolute
      @AbsolutelyAbsolute 2 года назад +1

      I made the upgrade from the 5 II to the 5 IV . . .the IV makes the II look like a joke of a phone in every aspect except the camera, which is pretty similar.

  • @Roomyverse

    A fixed lens is always going to be better optimised than a variable maybe? But, if you're a film fan, the screen on the IV is hard to beat. Plus, for me in the UK, it came with the WH-1000XM4s, which have been amazing.

    • @luckysxm
      @luckysxm 2 года назад +5

      You know what's hard to beat if you're a film fan ? A 75in TV ! Just kidding... Seriously though, I never could bring myself to watch a good movie on such a small screen. On a big tablet, yes, because at arms length, it fills your field of view just as well as a big screen TV at the right distance. But a small phone like this one, or any phone for that matter, is just too small to enjoy a movie on. I think Al Pacino said one day that he didn't understand how people could watch movies on their phones... that says something ;) Not trying to pick on you or anything, just my take on that subject. Cheers. Oh, and yes, fixed lens is almost always better than variable. Especially on the Xperia 1 IV, it is really bad. I'm pretty sure that's why they axed it on the 5 IV. It sucked too much to reiterate.

    • @Roomyverse
      @Roomyverse 2 года назад +4

      @@luckysxm I agree you can't beat a big TV but sometimes, for me, things being how they are, the only time I get to myself is the commute. I used to watch three films a week in cinemas but that's totally unaffordable these days so, as a film fan, this is the only watch to catch up.

    I would go with the 1 iv even though the 5 iv has the nicer form factor. But that sharpening on the 5 iv is way more noticable. On the other side u can shoot in raw and then it doesn't matter which phone u use. The bigger difference is in video, where u should be better off with the 1 iv. Cause a smoother picture always looks more natural and u still have the possibility to add some sharpening afterwards. Anyway the pro-i kills them both in terms of dynamic range. But very interesting to see that there is such a big difference in terms of camera. Thanks for the comparison!

  • @ademturan7137
    @ademturan7137 2 года назад +1

    By now its known not to use auto mode on the 1 IV when shooting with the tele lenses as it messes up the focus and creates a softer image. This has been attended to by Sony and gotten bettet since release but it is still there.
    U must manually adjust the focud with the slider, the results will be way better.

    I'm a bit confused. I was going for the 1IV because I don't want to regret buying for something i will use daily for several years. But the 5IV seems all around better? The screen is worse of course. And I'm not so sure about the size. Is it similar to a regular iphone or does it feel even smaller? I have a Note 20 ultra now and I like the big screen quite a bit. Is it performing similarly in other aspects? Heat, battery, sound? The 5 is quite a bit cheaper here in Sweden than the 1 so maybe a smaller screen is an acceptable trade of...

    • @luckysxm
      @luckysxm 2 года назад +2

      The screen is so narrow at that size and aspect ration that it feels like typing on an iPhone mini. If you can get your hands on one (an iPhone mini), you'll get the feel of it before buying the Xperia. As for myself, I could never adjust to the cramped keyboard.

    • @collinshelton1
      @collinshelton1 2 года назад +2

      Also coming from a Note 20 Ultra. I don't think the Xperia 5 IV is really better in any department than the Xperia 1 IV, it really just comes down to your size preference. I think my N20U is too unwieldy and am considering buying the Xperia 5 IV.

    • @s89kw

  • @joelconolly5574

    The glowing is probably just lens halo. Otherwise, I do think that maybe the 1 IV tele zoom could use a sensor focus tech since having variable zoom can make pictures seems less sharper and haloing than it should. Or else I'm betting on dua zoom lens like Samsung's. I do wished to see what the Xperia mark 5 series will bring to the table. Big possibility are bigger sensors but only time will tell.

    Uhm.. as far as I am concerned both phones have the same lenses and software, except the 1 IV coming with an additional telephoto lense. So whatever "differences" you were trying to capture there only came from how you took the photos, 90% of the phones is the same in terms of lense quality.

That's quite disappointing if cameras are the main buying point. In this case twice the cheaper Pixel 6 Pro looks way more attractive device despite all his drawbacks

    That periscope module zoom lens was always a flop.
    Minolta dimage invented that technology, then Sony used it massively on their point and shoot cameras (TX series).
    The results were always worse than other cameras with conventional zoom.
    Sony made now a good decision by just put a tele lens on the Xperia 5.

      I just wish it wasn't just 60mm. If Sony added another telephoto camera for even further reach (like the 105 or even 125mm options of the III and IV lines) their phones would be even cooler than they already are. Having a powerful pocket camera system that can go over 100mm as well would be insanely useful, at least for me.
      This is why despite the quality claims I still want a 5 III (only because I can't get a 1 IV realistically, at least in the near future).
      Edit: and no I wouldn't want to settle for another brand that offers these things, Xperias offer features and hardware that cater to specific niche things I want to have.

      The 1 line is a step above regular flagship phones. It's not for you and I, because they're targeting some very niche need for a tiny 4k screen.
      Their 5 line offers the same things as the 1 line, with the exception of the telephoto camera in this IV series specifically and a 4k screen that's overkill any way you look at it, especially for a 5's screen size.
      Their 5 line is the actual reasonable flagships, don't let Sony market their way into making you believe something else. The III and II phones have no differences between them except for that 4k screen spec and size, their cameras, processor and screen specs besides the size are all the same.
