    things i learned today:
    -what a strong consonant is
    -what a double consonant is
-how to pronounce both the strong and double consonants
-that if you add tiny up and down lines to the arms of a ㅊ you can make a dancing man
all in all it has been a very productive day

Your pronunciation is really clear and wonderful!!!! 감사합니다. ㅋㅋㅋ You say each consonant the same when you repeat. So, it is easier to distinct the change from ㄱ ㄲ ㅋ. Sometimes teachers do not understand that a changing the pronunciation even the slightest change can be heard and confuse a learner.

    안녕하세요 선생님! 🙏🏼
So, I started learning Korean, like, 5 months ago and I did not know about this entire Beginner course, just a week ago, or two, I guess, I got to know about you and your channel, and you cannot imagine how thankful I'm to you!! Though I'm already at the intermediate level, but I'm still watching this right from the beginning, because the way you teach is just fantastic!! *" 빌리 선생님은 아주 좋습니다"* 🤩
Thank you for bringing up this channel and making Korean learning easier!!

@@kooksitaval6721 the time doesn't change anything you know ? Some "learn" the alphabets in 3 hours (which personnaly I doubt that they know and can even read honestly and understand all what's behind the sounds and writing) and personnaly it took me more than 8 hours already => because I'm taking time to learn properly the sounds and exceptions for writings. Just stay consistant that's what will help you to grow. It's better that you go slower than going too fast and forget everything in a few days. Korean isn't easy you know ? Just remember how much time it took you to be intermediate in english (if you are) with school or any other language 👀 don't compare yourself to others or it will just bring you down.
For being in intermediate level, you can take exams that exists (i think you have to pay) to mesure your level actually. And then with that you can know what to improve for vocabulary, gramar and so on. Being intermediate is actually level B1-B2 😅 where you can read pretty much anything, write sentences with gramar and speak quite normally ~ that's intermediate. I hope this can help you

Billy, for my ears, Regular consonants are usually soft and aspirated, double consonants are strong and not aspirated, at least less aspirated, and strong consonants are strong and aspirated. Does it make some sense? At least that's what I listen to
And thank you so much for everything! That tissue tip, I was a little shy to try it out, but it really works! I'm happy to see that most times when I pronounce double consonants it does not move whatsoever :)

I found that pronouncing double consonants is comparative to the little tsu in japanese that prolongs the next kana's sound.
    e.g.
    아가 --> 아까
    (a-ga) (a-gga)
    ちょっと
    (chyotto)
the little っ prolongs the next kana's sound (と) from 'to' to 'tto' so you have that slight stop, tensing speech pattern when saying it.
it's really hard to put it into words but i found it easier to understand when put it in this perspective.

Write those words on the paper then try to spell it in Google Translate voice (Korean to English) and check if your spelling is correct.
4 out of 15 I spelled them correct, for others I strugled a little bit - but helped me to correct myself and understand the different sounds.

So if ㄱ is in the beginning of a syllable it would be more of a “ka” sounds, and if it goes at the end of a syllable it would be more of a “ga” sound?

It's best to not learn it that way, as it's never going to match that sort of system. Also it would be too difficult to memorize how the sound can slightly change based on where it appears in a word. The important thing is making the sound correctly, and finding where your tongue is in your mouth when you say it - if you can do this, the sound will turn out close enough without having to consider any more rules. There are already plenty of other rules to memorize when learning Korean, but this is fortunately not one of them.

Hi Billy! Do you recommend writing ㅃ as two separate ㅂ or joining them like in the font used on the screen? If joining them, does that change the stroke order so that you do all three vertical lines first? Same question for ㅉ.

If you wanted to join them together, you'd do the 3 vertical lines first, but some people make like a U first then add the middle vertical line. It's unofficial so you can do it however you'd like.

Hi, Billy. I am having this problem with the consonant ㄱ when do we pronounce it as 'g' and when is it 'kh'? Same with ㄷ when is it 'th' and when is it 'd'?? Am I making sense? Pls help

It's never either sound. None of these sounds can match perfectly with English, so if you're thinking of them like English letters they will never match up. It's better to get used to hearing the sounds from real sources (TV, podcasts, etc.) and learn how they're used, and to avoid romanization completely.

Oh boi. This is not going to be easy. I'm already struggling with the proper sounds of the single ones and now they've become triple.

When you are pronouncing 카 it is pronounced like 'kha' but when you are pronouncing 카 in a word it is pronounced sometimes as 'kha' or as 'ga' . I can't understand this thing that how to know where and when to pronounce the same consonant with other sound and same goes as 타 and sometimes 라 pronounce like 'ra' instead of 'la' . Can you please clear this problem . Btw you are great thank you 👍

The sound isn't changing, but your ears aren't yet used to Korean sounds so your brain is *tricking* you into comparing them to sounds that you're familiar with (English or any other language). It will just take time and practice, but you'll be able to tell the difference between the sounds. I recommend listening to more Korean, such as by watching more variety shows or podcasts, etc. in order to get used to it more quickly.

But I don’t get any of it.
Is it just kha and that’s why the tissue moves? Because of the h?
And is it just a ga cuz it sounds like it but you make it so complicated I’m sorry I don’t get it

It's best to not think of it like English or any other language, because Korean sounds don't exist in English or many other languages. It's best to just listen to what it sounds like and to do your best to say it that way. Korean can't be accurately written with English.
