And Number 11, he was *right* to stand up against Carol Danvers in Civil War 2, when Captain Marvel sought to take Miles Morales into custody, even though the young Spider-Man had committed no crimes. When you're willing to be beaten into a coma for what you believe, you're a hero.
Yeah but he was also willing to be beaten into a coma during the 1st Civil War in which the roles were reversed and he was the one that was being an idiot. I feel like they put him on that side in CW2 to make up for that, especially since his movies had made him so very popular.

I don't buy the whole "mandarin wouldn't work in modern day" excuse. Firstly, it would have already worked if Kingsley was the Mandarin because he was freaking KILLING it up until we knew it was a fakeout. Secondly, the comics have used Mandarain for decades...even up to as recently as 2012. Nobody expects a direct translation of the character from the 60's. Use some imagination.
Josh Jones Agreed. I also found it strange how the video uses the 90s incarnation of the Mandarin at 6:50 to prove that Mandarin is “too racist to work in the modern day,” even though that incarnation was a) not stereotypical at all (it was that very run that DEVELOPED Mandarin from a caricature to a three-dimensional antagonist), and b) badass as hell.
Buy he's called the Mandarin because he's Chinese. Mandarin people are literally Chinese. Why not have a different villain that isn't obviously named after an ethnic group? It makes no sense.
brucenatelee Actually, ‘Mandarin’ was also a respected bureaucratic rank in the Imperial Chinese government, one that the comic book Mandarin descends from. People who held this title were literally referred to as ‘Mandarins’ and because Mandy’s whole schtick is to revert the worlds political landscape to one resembling the ancient dynasties, he figures he will refer to himself by what would be a respected title in such a world, especially given his aforementioned links to the rank via ancestry. There are no ethnic reasons for him choosing the name, in fact he really doesn’t give a shit about ethnicity.
Zicyzac bonanza I believe you’re thinking of ‘Iron Man: Armoured Adventures.’ I haven’t watched it since I was a kid, but yeah, I can remember Mandarin being pretty good in it. The second season of the 90s cartoon also delivered a decent Mandarin.

Absiolutely. All you need to make The Mandarin is that he be Asian (but probably *should* be Chinese... it's in the name, after all), have the Rings, and an obsession to see China restored to her full Imperial glory. With all that, he can just be your average guy in a business suit and still be the Classic Mandarin.
dude, people are SO MEAN to Iron Man 2! I LOVED Iron Man 2! It's one of the only times we ever get to see Tony Stark at the top of his game before his edges beginning to fray, and we see the jittery, struggling Tony of the MCU we know now.
Yeah, #1 really bugs me. I'm a big iron man fan, and I have a friend who is a Captain America fan. When we get into who is better, he always says "take away the suit and what chance does he have?" To which I reply: "Take Cap's super soldier serum away and what does he have?" We have yet to find closure or common ground about this topic.
Tony is a futurist who keeps learning from the past while looking ahead at the future. He will work on his past mistakes while anticipating the next worst thing. He also struggled with his vices, and did everything he can to become a better man. That alone is amazing. As for Steve, he was created to stand up against tyranny and injustice, which makes sense because he was written during the WW2. He fought against fascism and discrimination. As Nomad, he fought for what he believes is right even without a flag. During the first Marvel Civil War, he fought every odds to stand up for his ideals that represents freedom and justice for the people. Marvel heroes are not always about their superhero feats, because most of the time they were meant to reflect on our humanity-our greatness, failings, dreams, and beliefs. In essence, Earth's mightiest heroes were created different from one another to represent different people and how they work despite that to save the day. Comparing both is futile and distracts us from the actual goal of the writers of the very heroes we love.
the film made it clear who is better if you take away their armor and serum. money, knowledge, intelligence, ... Stark is a lot better. by the way... Stark made his own armor under extremelly difficult conditions while Rogers wouldn't be able to duplicate the serum even on the best conditions.
Tony is the greatest hero in the MCU. Reason? Basically your last point. He is just a man in a suit of armor fighting aliens alongside demigods and superhumans. Between himself and certain death is just 2cm of metal, and nothing more. As we have seen in Iron Man 3, it is absolutely possible for him to just control his suits remotely, he could even have designed them completely as robots, which would probably make them more powerful, since there could be more tech packed inside them. But even so, he stands on the "frontiest" frontlines possible, and different from the other heroes, it is his CHOICE to be there. The others can only fight on the frontlines, but he CHOOSES to risk his life and fight personally on the frontlines, because he believes that it is important to be there personally in order to not be perceived at a heartless "hero-machine" and set peoples heart at ease. (And also because he hates himself and wants to atone for his sins as a weapon developer...)
Your rebuttal reminds me of Hawkeye in age of Ultron.... ("ok, the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow & arrows.... none of it makes sense")
Hero? Maybe villain. He created all of his enemies and even spidermans, before he created walking armoires he made nukes and only stopped because it was tarnishing his name, he created ultron and nearly destroyed the planet, and forced a bunch of people into hiding because they wouldn't agree with him, and didn't do a thing to help them if you think he cared about them.
I totally agree with you. And seeing the other replies i don't know wether i should laugh or cry. They compare black widow, spiderman, batman to ironman. Pssttfffff
what happened to iron man 3? i remember everyone was bagging on it back in the day but now its considered good. Honestly the only thing I didnt like about the third film was how easy it was for aldrich killian to destroy tonys suits.
Yea the mark 45 looked dope but it was the weakest armor. It got destroyed by a semi truck! I didn't like how the armor was portrayed as being literally made of plastic. Especially since now his armor has gone toe to toe with the likes of Captain America and the all powerful Mad Titan himself Thanos. He literally dropped a moon on his armor and it was still intact.
Jesus this was written by someone who has limited knowledge of Tony Stark. Seems like the writer knows more about the movie Tony and did a ten minute read thru of the comic Tony's wiki page for research. A lot of the information is misleading and leaves a lot of context out
I wouldn't call Tony an Orphan. His parents died, at least in the MCU, when he was old enough to be in college. Not exactly orphan. I liked Iron Man 3. Never understood the complaints. Comic heroes never seem to be in full time relationships. Movies can do that differently. Sad or not as sad as that may be.
In my opinion, the MCU should make Mandarin somewhat similar to the Iron Man: Armored Adventures portrayal of the character. Modern problems require modern solutions.
you get more deep context from the source material, some details that are important though never really explained in the movies. Producers just tickle then in hopes you either do read the comics or just Google all the answers.
That's true for most fans of the mcu, and while you may find it frustrating that the true nature of theses characters is lost in the eyes of mainstream audiences, how much does it really matter? Firstly, its fine to like something without knowing everything about it, liking things is not supposed to be stressful. Secondly, I think that the mcu is an amazing things for the fans of these characters. Not only does it mean that more people learn of these characters, but it also gets many more people to read the comics. So instead of gatekeeping, appreciate the mcu for bringing the characters we love so much to mainstream audiences. Sorry for the novel length reply
Your point as to why Mandarin can't be utilized in movies relates to him being too racist for modern audience's sensitive souls, or just not being a good character, but when you make that sentiment, you show a panel from the famous John Byrne run on Iron Man, in which Mandarin had one of the most character-defining villain roles in the whole MU? That kind of defeats the point you're making. It would like if you were saying that Batman uses guns in the comics while you were showing a panel from The Dark Knight Returns where Batmas breaks a riffle and calls it the weapon of cowards.
I liked what they did with the fake Mandarin because it slightly plays off of modern day's Islamophobia, I can't point out the specific details but cinema wins pointed this out in his review

@Lodogg 3323 with that mentality, don't expect any complex Asian characters to be in marvel movies anytime because it might upset "muh Asian foreign market"
The problem is that the MCU desperately tries to keep things as far from ‘magic’ as possible which means the Doctor Strange was the first to actually do magic
The issue with Iron Man 3 isn't so much the radical reinterpretation of the Mandarin, but rather that they completely failed at the "X is real big bad" twist in the movie. In the movie we already knew Killian was a bad guy, but he was a pretty lackluster secondary villain, and when he became the main villain he wasn't less lackluster. The true villain reveal needs to be for someone who is cooler than the previous villain, or it at least has to be someone who surprises you.
My main issues with Iron Man 3 was I was constantly asking, "Why is Tony constantly making moronic decisions?", "Why are all the iron man suits made of balsa wood now?", and "Why is everyone willing to become completely evil if you just give them drugs?". Also, the whole "real villain turned out to be the businessman" was already done in Iron Man 1 & 2.
My only problem in Iron Man 3 movie was that It was a Tony Stark movie and not an Iron Man one. It's literally "powerless" Tony stark for 90% of the story
"Civil War destroyed his relationship with Steve Rodgers" Me, Someone who has read the Civil war comic: Change that to Civil war destroyed Sharon Carter's relationship with Steve Rodgers. Seriously, He can bring back his best friend by looking at him but he can't bring back his own girlfriend?
People who say RDJ's portrayal of Tony Stark is very faifthul to Iron Man in the comics have NEVER read a SINGLE Pre-MCU Iron Man comic. The 616 comic book version of Iron Man was MUCH more like Elon Musk. Always thinking about the future while using aggressive but legitimate ways to expand his company. He manufactured weapons WAY after becoming Iron Man. And he was DEEPLY involved in the management of his own company. His partying and his need to fulfill his more "social" duties were, if anything, a nuisance to him. His sense of humour came from a place of introverted shock for witnessing every stupid or evil behaviour happening around him - hence why he became so ironic overtime. He was introspective, brooding and always concerned about carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. His alcoholism didn't come from heavy partying and jet-setting; it rather appeared as a means of escaping the HEAVY responsibilities he had. RDJ simply portrayed a more interesting and colorful version of Iron Man - more akin to that nasty Ultimate Marvel version - and, due to his success, 616 comics have picked up from RDJ's version ever since.
I like to imagine Riri will be brought into the MCM because she was looking through the rubble of Tony's house after the mandarin blew it up and she happened to find his suitcase suit from the second movie.
3:36 - "Would a man who hated SHIELD take on that responsibility?" How about YES? I mean, I've seen things like this in famous shows all the goddman time. You have a protagonist who starts small and fights some big organization that is either completely against him or just invades his turf... and then over time the protagonist is put into the position to lead this organization despite he hated it. And he accepts it. It happened in Buffy's spinoff Angel with Angel himself joining the most evil organization on Earth - Wolfram and Hart who he hated and fought. It happened in Stargate SG1/Atlantis when Richard Woolsey was introduced as an uptight white-collar worker who hated Stargate Command for how unruly and dangerous they were for not following his strict routines... to in the end not just join the organization but lead the Atlantis division. Now I just remembered that the same basically happened to Shadow the Hedgehog. Went from hating GUN to joining GUN. Which is basically the same kind of organization as SHIELD. In fact, the SA2 story parallels Winter Soldier heavily. I am sure this happens many other times in fiction. It's interesting... and believable in my opinion. It's my favorite kind of plot. It's a trope of a young rebellious hero turning against the old stupid authorities and being successful and awesome while doing it... and then with success, later comes a routine and grown up problems and he realizes that whatever he hated about the seniors leadership and order is now what he actually strives for. And it's not evil. It's a normal tale of growing up. Even though the example of Angel goes against this cause he doesn't join this evil organization out of change of heart, but to subvert its operations and ultimately destroy it. And in the Woolsy's case the chaos/order thing is reversed, as he starts more orderly, and then he finds out that in practice, there needs to be some chaos. But you catch my drift.
My issue with Iron man 3 is the way they trampled over the other movies. Throw away plot developments which were actually major. Pepper is now super powered? Tony simply removes the shrapnel in his chest that basically identifies him? He BLOWS UP HIS SUITS LIKE FIREWORKS??? You know it was bad because they ended up undoing half of the plot of 3 in subsequent movies.
Completely agree with u about the civil war comic. Doesn’t delve into tony at all, it’s pretty overdramatic tbh. Literally my word to describe the comic.

I know none of us like Riri Williams or even the idea of Tony being replaced but if Tony HAS to die in Endgame and I’m the only one that thinks Shuri is the only one capable of taking over the mantle, similar to Riri? Spider-Man obviously shouldn’t be taking the mantle because he’s fucking Spider-Man and he needs to stay as Spider-Man, I just don’t see anyone else capable of taking over the mantle if Tony were to die. I hope he doesn’t though.
It's interesting how a lot of younger people today don't realize that Iron Man was a real C-lister for most of his existence. Iron Man was my favorite comic book character growing up and virtually no one else cared about him. I was the only kid I knew who read his comics instead of Spider-Man or X-Men. People thought the film was going to be a major bomb because nobody cared. It sure was something to see him blow up into one of the most popular characters of this century thus far.
Thank you for this. As a longtime Iron Man fan, it's good to hear someone give a fair due for a hero who has so much depth compared to others in the superhero genre.
That number one fact? That's the reason he was my favorite Marvel character. I didn't agree with his choices in Civil War, but it doesn't change how exceptional the man is
Tecnically, Eddie March was the first other person who assumed the Iron Man mantle. Ignoring someone stealing the armor or Happy wearing it just to keep up Tony Stark's secret identity.
Both Eddie and Kevin O'Brien wore the suit before Rhodey ever did and how can you mention his relationships without Bethany Cabe who was probably his longest love before the movies or Kathy Dare who shot him and paralyzed him! Woefully uninformed, WC!

Or that comparison to Batman, without mentioning Lex Luthor or Cyborg or a half dozen other DC characters that overlapped with his archetype in some manner. I mean, you can't really talk about having a big ego in the DC universe without talking about Lex or Octavious or a certain alien who fires Omega beams and hails from a planet literally called Apocalypse. :D
"Ironman is just a man in a suit." "No he is the most human man of the group in a suit." -Looks at the other avengers- "Well yeah.. that's not even a good point"
Watch the Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King with Trevor Slattery. A guy comes to take him to the "real" Mandarin. So the Mandarin does actually exist in the MCU.
with regards to Iron Man being obscure before the MCU, i have to say i agree. here's an example: in Dexter's Laboratory, the cartoon by Genndy Tartakovsky, there was a trio of characters spoofing superheroes in general and the Avengers in particular with proxies for Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. while there's a bunch of others that appeared in that "shared universe" of Cartoon Network shows, an expy of Iron Man is conspicuously absent for the most part.
@@MachineFuckingHate not at all :P but i'd say it says something about how well known some things are by how often reference is made to them. it was just an example that probably alot of other '90s kids who weren't dedicated comics fans like myself would probably recognize, and Tartakovsky's choice to spoof Cap, Thor, and Hulk rather than, say, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Vision probably speaks to how better known the former three are/were compared to the latter. another metric you might be able to use is how often Superman is parodied, from established counterparts like Marvel's Sentry to one-offs for any given cartoon that just wanted to spoof him.
@@Emperor_Oshron, if you don't say that, then don't bring it up. Dexter's Laboratory is a passion project of Genndy, not deposition on the 90s pop culture. He puts things in there he is personally attached to. Maybe he was a bigger fan of Thor, Cap, and Hulk, so that is why he put them there. By your very own flawed logic, since Spider-Man was never spoofed on that show, Spider-Man was not a relevant character.
What is this narrative that Ironman 2 was a poor film? I think it quintessentially feels like tony stark, love Jon Favreau and his vision continuing, perhaps the villain is weak but the whole sins of the father angle that is played up is entertaining. Just a fun ride of a film in the mcu. Now Ironman 3 feels like something out of place and tonally I don’t feel as though I know those characters. It rides on Robert Downey jrs charisma but not mich more. The titles made me cringe all the way down to his rudeness to the kid in the film to him posturing giving the mandarin his address??? It provides growth in small ways but with his armor really never working and his efforts failing quite a bit throughout the film his growth as a hero just seemed to dimenish. It adds nothing to the narrative post Avengers. I am sad that this is more of the current stark you get in subsequent films though.
I dont understand either. IM2 was a pretty good film with a technology based villain. IM3 was about remote control armour and magical exploding men. no comparison. IM2 all the way.
Favreau was the better director. Iron Man 2 is much better than Iron Man III. That movie was Downey throwing bone to Shane Black. Mel Gibson helped Downey when Marvel was on the fence about hiring Downey. Later a new Lethal Weapon movie series idea was pitched. Gibson wanted in. Iron Man III was to get Shane Black screen time to push the project. Which is why it looks like out takes from Lethal Weapon movies. Instead, Gibson became part of the "Expendables" and stole the show. Lethal Weapon goes on to be a bad TV show. And Iron Man III a bad movie.
The problem with retrispective reviews on Iron Man 2 and The Dark World was that they weren’t origin films, which fans automatically love, nor are they made in the same style as the later MCU movies. They are made in the style of the original MCU, but people began expecting a different approach to the characters. On that note, I thought the movies were great, and don’t deserve the hate.
seriously I couldn't agree more. My entire family loves iron man 2 but hates iron man 3. I despise it for its poor plot and writing, with some of the worst plot holes I've ever seen.
The hate for the 3rd movie has always made little sense to me, outside of just being a bit bent over a bait and switch. Their approach to the Mandarin was not only smart but entirely relevant, as a business magnate using tales of an ultra dangerous entity to manufacture a terror threat is fairly believable. Marvel also put together a "one-shot" that showed the actual character is out there.
The main problem that most people have is that they either gloss over things about the character that they don't personally like about him or they over simplify his motivations. And both detract from his overall character development.
I didn't even know people were hating on Iron Man 3... I thought it was very well made (with a mediocre ending)- I was slightly let down by Iron Man 2 when it came out- but recently rewatched it and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that movie- the first Iron Man is my favorite- but it has the advantage of telling the origin story- and that is always easier...
@@olik136 I thought that the fake Mandarin _did_ work, so the reveal was rather disappointing - and another thing that amused me is that he apparently could've summoned the Iron Legion _any time_ he wanted, which kinda saps out any suspense out of the movie :) But I did like that it's Pepper who deals the killing blow to Killian, leaving Tony speechless :)
Personally, the Nanotech Iron Man Armor from Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame is my favorite, followed by the Modular Armor from Iron Man #300 & the War Machine Armor. Iron Man III was rather good as it was a character study of Tony Stark.
@ALPHA When they had Batman replaced by a white and male sociopath who acted as if he could do no wrong I had the same problems. (Knightfall) Riri doesn't get a free pass because she was intended as a move towards diversity. Notice who few people bitched about Montoya as the Question back in day compared to Riri or how most people don't have the same problem with Reyes as blue beetle in contrast with Tedd Kord? ~ Because a well written character that respects the legacy of the character who's shoulders they are standing on makes all the difference.
@@Mister-Thirteen Pretty much agree with you there's genuine diversity where a character is created, developed and able to stand on their own right and while being young/old/black/white/yellow/red/etc may shape their personality somewhat its not the primary thing you remember about them compared to what the character represents. On the other hand you have corporate diversity where a character is secondary to being (a) female/black/insert current we must represent concept here and (b) being shown to be infiniately superior to the old white/male they're replacing in every way. If the first thing you think of when you hear the name is "Awseome scene of them standing their ground in a final noble sacrifice against overwhelming odds to save innocents" then that's a character. On the other if the first thing you think of is "They're black, they're female" then that's not a character its a shoehorned in look at how diverse we are. You say Ellen Ripley in Alien 2 and I think of the "Get away from her you *****" moment as well as other points in the film that are about the character on the other hand you say Rey in the new starwars movies and I think "mary sue in the name of diversity".

Tony Stark is a monster. he flooded the black market with mutant growth hormone because he knew it would kick off somewhere so he could get his registration act, and nitro at stamford,CT turned out to be the event. he later used Norman Osborne to shoot Namor, to create an excuse to turn the registration act into a superhero draft for the 50 States Initiative. this all came together in Civil War Frontline #11, and the press, who knew about the whole thing, covered it up.
1.- Correct,he wasn't an "A" list character ,mostly a "B" type and he wasn't this "comedian" that they make him see in the MCU and also as sarcastic as RDJ makes him look. 2.- Yep,he's not another Batman. 3.- Sort of,after the "incident" of them buying most of Starks stocks behind his back (in a way making him drink more giving us the Demon in a bottle story arc) he felt betrayed and still has grudge against SHIELD (mostly Fury) but sill helps them with weapons and technology. Also,he didn't became Director of SHIELD willingly at the time of the Civil War,he was blackmailed most of it by the government. 4.- True until a certain point, Rhodes was not the "First" person besides Tony to wear the Iron Man Armor, that "honor" goes to Weasel Wills a crook that appeared in the TOS era and wears the armor until the end of the same issue. 5.- More than a Thousand, but "Officially" he has at least 61 types of armors. The best armor is Extremis Armor or "Model 29." 6.- True and he also made 2 teams,The Force Work team and Might Avengers Team. 7.- Not a bad movie, but also not great. 50/50 and i agree on the Mandarin part. 8.- Don't know if "destroyed" because his relationship with Steve was after The Armor Wars and Operation Galactic Storm Arc "on the rocks". CW was more like were everything "erupted" but were it all went to hell was on Time Runs Out event. 9.- Yep,Pepper was never Tony's love interest, before her there was madame Masque,Sunset,Rumiko, etc. 10.- Agreed, and the title of "Invincible" is more about Tony as a person surpassing every encounter and never giving up even if the odds are against one.
"i agree on the Mandarin part" Agree that the Mandarin in IM3 was a travesty, or that the Mandarin should not be utilized properly because...social justice needs to be validated?

Stark during the civil war was coming off being infected with the extremis virus and hacked by someone who's name I forgot. He went on a power trip and had a realization especially after the new warriors incident that powers needed to be regulated.
I think a more common thing people mess up on, and it really isn’t anyone’s fault, is that Howard Stark isn’t Tony’s biological father, but for some reason they look a lot similar. It doesn’t make sense to me bc they’ve blatantly said in comics they are not blood related but are almost virtually identical in appearance at the same age.

Plus they made it work alright in the cartoon with teenage Stark. I can't remember what it was called.
Zicyzac bonanza I believe you’re thinking of ‘Iron Man: Armoured Adventures.’ I haven’t watched it since I was a kid, but yeah, I can remember Mandarin being pretty good in it.
The second season of the 90s cartoon also delivered a decent Mandarin.

dude, people are SO MEAN to Iron Man 2!
When we get into who is better, he always says "take away the suit and what chance does he have?" To which I reply: "Take Cap's super soldier serum away and what does he have?"
We have yet to find closure or common ground about this topic.
Black Widow does it in less armour.
I totally agree with you. And seeing the other replies i don't know wether i should laugh or cry. They compare black widow, spiderman, batman to ironman. Pssttfffff
Steven Reyna What are you talking about??? Tony, a villain.... give me what you’re smoking dude.
what happened to iron man 3? i remember everyone was bagging on it back in the day but now its considered good. Honestly the only thing I didnt like about the third film was how easy it was for aldrich killian to destroy tonys suits.
It depends on context. The movie is entertaining, but not quite as good as the arc in the comics that it (loosely) adapts

@@wozz7771 right I got the two confused

obviously you never read the series where SHIELD buys Stark Industries to try and force them to make weapons again. THAT is why Tony hates them.

Comic heroes never seem to be in full time relationships. Movies can do that differently. Sad or not as sad as that may be.

"Civil War destroyed his relationship with Steve Rodgers"

But he was also often portrayed as a Playboy. Especially if you look in the early nineties comics he was a pretty crappy human at times
He just played himself. RDJ plays himself in a lot of movies. Ever saw Zodiac?

It’s obvious in the first movies???
I like to imagine Riri will be brought into the MCM because she was looking through the rubble of Tony's house after the mandarin blew it up and she happened to find his suitcase suit from the second movie.
I like to imagine she doesn’t even exist in the comics
Actually, it was the Extremis storyline and the Civil War event with Tony as its protagonist that elevated Ironman before the movies even came out.
So, if you reimagine a character in a new universe it's "getting it wrong"? Alright, got it...
9:08 Did anyone else notice she said "ENDGAME"??? Is this why the quote was given to Tony in Age of Ultron???
3:36 - "Would a man who hated SHIELD take on that responsibility?"
How about YES?
Like I've always said; if you want to change the system, do it from the inside.

Spider-Man obviously shouldn’t be taking the mantle because he’s fucking Spider-Man and he needs to stay as Spider-Man, I just don’t see anyone else capable of taking over the mantle if Tony were to die. It's interesting how a lot of younger people today don't realize that Iron Man was a real C-lister for most of his existence. with regards to Iron Man being obscure before the MCU, i have to say i agree. here's an example: in Dexter's Laboratory, the cartoon by Genndy Tartakovsky, there was a trio of characters spoofing superheroes in general and the Avengers in particular with proxies for Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. while there's a bunch of others that appeared in that "shared universe" of Cartoon Network shows, an expy of Iron Man is conspicuously absent for the most part.
Is that how you measured character's entire run in pop culture - by looking at Dexter's Laboratory?
You mean Major Glory, Infragnable Krunk, and Val Hallan the Justice Friends??
That's because Dexter himself was the Stark analog.
I used to know all the iron suits my memory. I forgot about 50% of them already lol
"Mindless superhero film" -mickey rourke
The problem with retrispective reviews on Iron Man 2 and The Dark World was that they weren’t origin films, which fans automatically love, nor are they made in the same style as the later MCU movies. They are made in the style of the original MCU, but people began expecting a different approach to the characters. On that note, I thought the movies were great, and don’t deserve the hate.
seriously I couldn't agree more. My entire family loves iron man 2 but hates iron man 3. I despise it for its poor plot and writing, with some of the worst plot holes I've ever seen.
For No1: apart from when he turn himself into a machine that could act at near lightspeed, then got eaten by Ultron and turned into a female Ultron.
gambit was ironman shortly. powered up the suit with his own energy.
stark vs wayne. stark creates his tech by hand batman is taking tech he buys.
Riri Williams was a good Ironman? Omegalul
You missed out Kathy Dare as one of his comic book love interests; Pretty important since she shot him through the spine and put him in a wheelchair.
10:09 still wonder how he can fix his helmet back online with a grinding tool. I guess he is a genius after all.
Seems more like a welder
I think of the Mandarin as Tony's opposite because his power comes from magic. Just another scientist is a downgrade.
If science is a downgrade then how did Tony win
@@Demon_Lord_Coom lol
1:32 Does that look like Henry Cavill or is it just me?
Damn u right
did he really say iron-man was a bad movie? compared to the older iron-man movies I'd say it's on of the best movies in the 2000s
No, he didn't. He said that Iron Man 2 was WAY worse than 3, and he's RIGHT.
I liked all the iron man movies
I didn't even know people were hating on Iron Man 3... I thought it was very well made (with a mediocre ending)- I was slightly let down by Iron Man 2 when it came out- but recently rewatched it and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that movie- the first Iron Man is my favorite- but it has the advantage of telling the origin story- and that is always easier...
@@olik136 I thought that the fake Mandarin _did_ work, so the reveal was rather disappointing - and another thing that amused me is that he apparently could've summoned the Iron Legion _any time_ he wanted, which kinda saps out any suspense out of the movie :)
But I did like that it's Pepper who deals the killing blow to Killian, leaving Tony speechless :)
Personally, the Nanotech Iron Man Armor from Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame is my favorite, followed by the Modular Armor from Iron Man #300 & the War Machine Armor.
Iron Man III was rather good as it was a character study of Tony Stark.
lol, did you just call Riri Williams a "good" Ironman replacement?
@ALPHA That's racist.
@ALPHA When they had Batman replaced by a white and male sociopath who acted as if he could do no wrong I had the same problems. (Knightfall)
Riri doesn't get a free pass because she was intended as a move towards diversity.
Notice who few people bitched about Montoya as the Question back in day compared to Riri or how most people don't have the same problem with Reyes as blue beetle in contrast with Tedd Kord? ~ Because a well written character that respects the legacy of the character who's shoulders they are standing on makes all the difference.
@alpha iron man is a white Male and I do love him
@@Mister-Thirteen Pretty much agree with you there's genuine diversity where a character is created, developed and able to stand on their own right and while being young/old/black/white/yellow/red/etc may shape their personality somewhat its not the primary thing you remember about them compared to what the character represents.
She's a villain in my eyes. Shitty character.
Top ten things everyone gets wrong about Iron Man
1)he is the most famous/beloved/inspiring of all time🙄
So....basically people in this category have never read the comics.
is there any problem with that?
There is when the title says "Everyone".
@@Fidelis1776 let me say this as plainly as possible......people who read comics already know these things. Not "everyone", forgets these things, because we've read it IN THE COMICS. These are common things that casual people who aren't big comic fans assume about Ironman, which is the entire point of the video.
I know, that's why I responded to the comment below yours that said "is there any problem with that", that was a response to your "So....basically people in this category have never read the comics." comment. Why are you confused, because I didn't respond with their name in front?
@@Fidelis1776 oh, that wasn't directed at me.....my bad, lol.
The best armor is Extremis Armor or "Model 29."
6.- True and he also made 2 teams,The Force Work team and Might Avengers Team.
9.- Yep,Pepper was never Tony's love interest,before her there was madame Masque,Sunset,Rumiko,etc.
10.- Agreed, and the title of "Invincible" is more about Tony as a person surpassing every encounter and never giving up even if the odds are against one.
"i agree on the Mandarin part"
Agree that the Mandarin in IM3 was a travesty, or that the Mandarin should not be utilized properly because...social justice needs to be validated?
RDJ made Iron Man one of the best superheros!! 🔥👌
He is awesome!! 🤙
Iron Man 3 still feels like a big budget toy commercial that was just thrown together half heartedly imo
In all honesty, I doubt a commoner would have done something as decent as that movie.. you included.
April is gonna be a great month. Game of thrones and Avengers Endgame.
I hated the Mandarin decision, but agree Iron Man 3 was a great film.
How about;
Tony Stark was shot & paralyzed.
The entire "Who shot Tony Stark" storyline from my grade school days was cool....
Most ppl don't know anything about that (& honestly I don't remember the answer either) (cuz I'm much much older & memory really isn't in my wheelhouse any more).
That would be Kathy Dare, and she shot him on panel ;-)
(Why yes, I am a complete Iron Man geek, why do you ask? ;-) )
@@golconda2 that deserves more than 1 thumbs up for sure! Thanks for making my day!!!!
Got more gadgets and stuff more stuff in her funny pack 🤣🤣🤣
I’d really like to see a movie with iron man and batman fighting or even better working together
Iron Man 2 isn't bad either.
I've never seen a more spot on understanding of Tony.
No tony isn't the most human, Matt Murdock is
Stark during the civil war was coming off being infected with the extremis virus and hacked by someone who's name I forgot. He went on a power trip and had a realization especially after the new warriors incident that powers needed to be regulated.
im sorry but riri is just... just the worst
She really is...
It was a dark dark time reading Ironman comics starring Riri.
I am done with unimaginative Killian apologists.
i've never gotten these things wrong about iron man
I think a more common thing people mess up on, and it really isn’t anyone’s fault, is that Howard Stark isn’t Tony’s biological father, but for some reason they look a lot similar. It doesn’t make sense to me bc they’ve blatantly said in comics they are not blood related but are almost virtually identical in appearance at the same age. I honestly don’t blame any comic reader to mess this up, even I was like that too for the longest time, but it doesn’t make sense to me.
