Damaged👏🏾 hair 👏🏾doesn’t 👏🏾count!! I agree with you, sis. Setback means take a step back, evaluate the issue, and try again. Our hair journey has become a lifestyle at this point.
It’s super hard to find a stylist who genuinely cares about the health of your hair. Haven’t been to one in yearsss. I had a stylist years ago Burn my hair off with them Marcel Flat irons 😒
I have the same issue and i have been self relaxing for about two years now.i live in a predominantly indian area so most of the salons dont know how to care for relaxed hair.im a mixed child and growing up,my mum used to care for my hair.but now i maintain it by myself.i must admit that its becoming much harder as my hair is growing longer.
I feel you girl!! stylist gave me a stronger relaxer for my fine thin hair burn my scalp took out a lot of my hair gave me the FOOL look like I had done something wrong, and I still had to pay for the service, to me some hair stylist will see your hair doing well get jealous and do something evil to your hair, I truly believe this is what happened to me, but thanks to RUclips videos my hair is thriving again😊
True yooo I went to salon recently for relaxer. The hairdresser did everything wrong from beginning ogging till the end. I mean from how he washed my hair, he tangled it and the stated detenging with I comp while the hair is wet. I dnt remember him using heat protectent. My hair is no longer full. ND now I hate salons
I love these videos. People who actually went through the experience and then you see where they are now. It really gives you hope! Thanks for sharing!
I had a really bad set back recently. I went natural in 2017 and then in 2019 I decided to relax my hair again. My hair was at shoulder length for a while and then like magic it shot to between bra strap and mid back length. I relaxed my hair June 4, after stretching for 6 months. My hair got so damaged, my hairdresser had to cut it and now I’m back above bra strap length. I felt so sad, but I’ll just try again. And now that I know my hair can’t stretch for that long, I just won’t do it again. It’s all a learning process.
I dont care what anyone says, I relax at 7 weeks, all the time. Learned that stretching is not necessary. My hair is a lil past bra strap. Also never get cornrows or fake braids. I only use loose braids and use flexirods to give my hair a full wavy texture. Those are my biggest no no's
Same!! A 6 month stretch sent me back to just above bra strap length. The difference in products used in natural and relaxed hair had my hair matted and I lost a lot of length. Now I know not to stretch that long
I agree with the comment on having some sort of setback from a protective style...due to a set of crochet twists my front edges broke off so bad i had to cut my bsl hair to collar bone length 😒 i normally wear wigs but wanted to try something different..working in regrow my hair back out
it seems that i just can't pass chin length 😭 my goal is shoulder length (all my hair passing through shoulder even the front hair) the worst thing is that i think my hair grows relatively fast because i month ago i had bang and 3 weeks later the front hair returned to touch my nose. i don't know what to do 😢😢 but I'll work hard so that by November I'll reach shoulder length
I'm encouraged, I had hair breakage coz I colored then relaxed my hair in a space of one week...I felt like going bold but I just did a weave, hoping for recovery by the time I undo it in July 😊
Stretching and protective styling will make that breakage look like it was never broke. I wash with aphogee after every relaxer and do my 2 minute reconstructor
Your hair is healthy and strong and beautiful.. I feel that a lot of relaxed women follow a lot of trends far as braiding relaxed hair relaxed hair is already weakened and it should not be braided especially for a long period of time you probably can put it in a up do for one week like a bun.. But just breathing relaxed hair I think it's a RUclips trend just like a lot of trends on RUclips and it's no wonder a lot of women with relaxed hair have some type of issue especially with brake edge and protein overload our hair doesn't need to have proteins every month our hairs are already built with proteins in them we just have to figure out a way how to eat right like our fruits and vegetables they have all the nutrition vitamins and minerals and proteins that we need instead of buying these proteins and putting them on our hair Remember I hear it's already made up with proteins And all we have to do is just eat right drink water exercise take care of ourselves that's basically it. And stop following a lot of these RUclips trends. I hope and pray that this helps someone thank you ever so kindly God-bless you❤🙏🏽
I experience alot of breakage through (braids)protective style. No matter how long I leave my hair in the weave the strands are always dry no matter how much mosturizer I apply on the ends. Not sure how to make sure my hair gets the moisture when it is under the weave
Depending on the braiding hair your using it maybe damaging your hair! Some braiding hairs are so rough that they damage the hair cuticle and cause breakage.
God did you send her? Cuz i really needed to hear this. Ive been experiencing a setback and i still dont know why and was about to cut all my progress off . But ill continue to do my best and wait for the come back.
I've never gotten past shoulder length. Because the back of my hair (middle) keeps breaking off and I always have to cut back to shoulder length. I've done everything but take vitamins
I don’t have an issue with breakage. My issue is with moisture. My hair eats up moisture too fast, I moisturize it at 8 and by 1 my hair ate every ounce of product. I don’t know how to fix it because I use a water based moisturizer and an oil for sealing. Help!
LCO(Leave-in,Cream,oil)yes high porosity hair is eternally thirsty and sometimes I feel like mine is popping it’s eyes on me saying “keep going, keep going gal…🤦🏽♀️”
@@isidoraveronica just moisturize and seal with the grease on washday. For the rest of the week you can seal with your fav oil mixed with castor oil. Hope this helped this saved my DRY Nigerian hair 😂
Hey Brianna am from Jamaica and I have been on a hair journey from last year I have been going to the salon for years and I have not seen any progress on my hair so I stopped going because I got a lot of burns and stuff like that so the relaxer I used to the olive oil brand from school days an I use to love it but I stopped using it for the last nine months this relaxer am using right now burns my scalp alot what do you think I should do and I even tried to trim my hair myself and it didn't work out and recently just started to do protein treatments on my hair I never used to doing that my hair is growing but not how I want it to so am asking you what should I do?
I don't go to hairstyles because they really don't cut about your hair ,it's all about the money, i don't trust them,do it yourself. You'r hair is not supposed to be even all over, that's the beauty of your hair,it looks natural that way ,cutting hair all the time isn't even
How often do you take down your braids when wearing wigs, i see so much breakage taking down my braids from under my wig. i take them down every 2-3 months

I literally said that this morning as I was doing my hair. It’s sad.

Protective styles don’t always protect. Ugggh lessons learned. And so true. No more salons. I will work on my own hair

When my hair start growing, my right side is always longer than the left side. And when my hair break it's always in the middle.
Middle breakage is usually from hair ties. Ponytails & buns, anywhere there is tension. Start using a Satin scrunchi that will help.
@@crystalebarnicle9628 thank you hun
I just had to cut 4 inches because of this
I don’t even wear ponytails like that and I still be getting these breakage. I think it’s from wearing my hair in cainrow and parting it in the middle
Girl I WISH you lived close to me so you could be my stylist! You are the epitome of how a great hairdresser should always be!!

Yes! All protective styles aren’t “protective”! But you wouldn’t know unless you try! You’ll be back to bsl in no time ❤️❤️❤️
for real my last braid my hair was so matted

Well take vitamins. Growth is from the inside. Length retention is the outside.
Setback is real , you said it all dear thanks
I experience breakage in the middle no matter how much length i retain its just the middle😔
Same! But then I realized that I always keep my hair in low buns and ponytails and they pull on the middle section of my hair the most .
@@Tonicayewright123 yes i do this too.always in buns and ponys.its coz i dont always have time to wash my hair
Thanks so much for this video. Honestly. Thank you. Setbacks are really hard. I needed this.
You are so welcome!
What color is your lipstick? You are stunning!
Thank you so much for this! It can get so discouraging.
Thank you so much for that because i did everything right but my hair is still breaking and i have lost so much faith 😢

I know pass my relaxer, but about to get braids. But at this point I have thick hair just trying to get some length added to it

Good video, it does become a lifestyle and everything benefits if you do it right.
Yes it does!
My breakage came from sleeping without a bonnet and sleeping with my hair out
Mine fall off everytime unless I use flexirods
Love this video! You are so right about everything you stated in your video!
Thanks for watching Arlita 💕

Do u moisturise seal and massage your scalp???
One time I got braids.. and during the process she was just ripping through my hair with a fine tooth comb to comb it out ! :(
I had this happen to me in October, i was internally screaming the whole time. Especially since i had 3 months worth of new growth.
