Like a lot of people were saying, "WE WERE SOLDIERS". I remember being 19/20 and seeing this in the theater one earlier afternoon. There were quite few Vietnam vets in the theater watching this movie. And when it was the finale battle scene with the helicopter, these war vets were just cheering and applauding. It gave me quite bit of pride watching these vets. Having them in the theater made it so much better.

He said We Were Soldiers is one of the most accurate Vietnam War movies he's seen. He also gave consultation for the movie. He said Mel Gibson was incredibly gracious, but that Sam Elliot would stop what he was doing and eat with the veterans visiting the set. He said Sam Elliot is one of the most genuine men he's ever met.

It was the first time I've ever been in a theater, and the only time outside of Infinity war, where the movie ended and the crowd just sat there. Yes, Marcus Luttrell was heavily involved in the making of the movie. He is in multiple scenes in the movie as well. Including the one where the helicopter get shot down. I found that to be very symbolic.

In all seriousness, I missed the voting ( :( ) but Kingdom of Heaven: Director's Cut is a very Warrior Poet movie.
"Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What God desires is in here [the mind] and here [the heart]; and what you decide to do every day will make you a good man or not."
    ~The Hospitaller
(I emphasize the Director's Cut as the scenes cut from the theatrical release take it from a medieval action movie to more of a political thriller).

I would like to give an honorable mention to Captain America: The First Avenger. Yeah I know it's a super hero movie but I believe Cap is a warrior poet. You have a 90lb asthmatic with a laundry list of medical problems. All he wants to do is follow in his families footsteps and serve his country. He is so desperate he attempts to enlist 5 times, lying on net enlistment forms just to get a chance. His heart is recognized and he volunteers for an experimental procedure to make him strong enough to serve. He meets the love of his life, and has to sacrifice his chance to be with her to save the world, putting his duty before his personal feelings and needs. If that isn't a warrior poet I don't know what is.

Not to mention inspires Widow to be a better person and Falcon to get back in the fight. Cap rules.
