Before she was an RCMP constable, Ms Yang was with Victim Services in Richmond.
When my sister was found deceased, Ms Yang along with an RCMP constable had the task of informing me. The compassion Ms Yang showed was above and beyond. I won't forget it.

Exceptional and worthy service for a very compassionate, dedicated hero who reached out to lift up the most vulnerable on the front lines (while many of us pretend this addiction/mental health epidemic is not happening just look at west Hastings/main in our communities this is everyone's concern we are all part of humanity Const. Yang had an exceptional sense of morality and compassion). Unfortunately one of the one's she was trying to help was high while mentally unstable a very bad mix. Ultimately this is another reminder/an RCMP's life taken, to deal much more effectively with the distributors who are selling hard drugs to mentally unstable folks who can barely get it together to buy their groceries let alone buy drugs. They bring the drugs to them, making it really easy for them to buy and use.

@@mauricamcginnis4063Talk is a good start as people connect and share ideas. The recent new Vancouver mayor has suggested hiring more police officer. But police I have spoken with express they need more supports in the Vancouver Downtown Community courts. As once they charge someone who is using/high/homeless ect... they put them in the system via charging them hoping they get treatment. But although a judge orders them rehab programs and probation via the Down town Community courts there are not enough care workers to support the people through their programs Those that have the supports along with one of the psychiatrists who run the programs have good recovery rates and start to live happier/more productive lives. Had the fellow who was so high and mentally unstable had the supports from the Vancouver downtown community court he may have recovered and not unfortunately taken this amazing women' Cost. Yang's life. In this regard politicians are negligent as the Downtown community courts have been applying and asking for more funding to hire more staff.
Erica ..it is not that cut and dried ...if it was like you are trying to suggest . people would not be afraid to leave their home's ...if anything it's way worse .and not getting better ...!!!!

Const Yang should b so proud to b a RCMP offficer.....its equivalent to being a " Navy Seals" by far the hardest training program for a police service......so sad that the help she offered to the less fortunate and mentally unstable will fail her and take her life....R.I.P Const Yang

What an incredible turnout. I hope at least some of these officers are actively investigating government overreach over the past three years.
I believe that they were burying a comrade in arms. That is the only thing their mind should be on at that moment.
In my 17 years is a police officer I've seen a lot of things come and go such as politics etc but when we're bearing a brother or a sister we simply don't give a tinker's damn about that.

Let them join the RCMP and enforce the laws of Canada.... It they get killed while doing so, they will get the same parade. Not rocket science. Anyone who serves the people as a career enforcing the laws of the country, gets murdered while doing so SHOULD get a parade. She was actually responding to a call and was stabbed to death doing so.
