By now you know there is more than one girl watching. I am a 76 year old girl who enjoys your videos. I don't work on cars, I just drive one. I have learned a lot as I watch you problem solve. Nice to see Mrs. O. Thanks for all the great videos.
I am a girl and always watching. Learned mechanics from my daddy many years ago on carb engines. Mr O is my second teacher of the new computerized engines...lol thanks Mr O! love from AZ ❤

I can’t believe that I’m the only girl that watches you! But I am definitely one! Can’t wait to see each and every video you post!! I try to keep up with my vehicles, 2002 PT cruiser and a 1948 Chevy Panel Truck. Truck has a Jaguar suspension and a Chevy LS1 Corvette engine! Love all your videos! Women who want to know about bad new and badly maintained used cars and how to avoid the worst pitfalls awaiting them in "today's" (shudder) car market are probably secret fans. The ones of both sexes who buy their large appliances by which item has the lowest price and the shiniest "stainless steel" cladding, probably not.
Im a DAV, just had my 19th surgery. An very young early 20's something nurse saw my Summit Racing Catalogs I brought to the hospital opened to LS Blocks and started talking to me about LS Engines and how she modded hers to get 150 more HP. Thanks for the shout out to Royalty. I'm a subscriber now and they are close enough to me that I could get a car to them! I also bought Deoxit based on your comments. No need for my car but I did use it to fix some crappy connections in a little window unit AC. We have lots of those in FL. 😊
Whenever I have a connector that is tough plugging in, i just smear a thin film of dielectric grease in the female side of the housing and it clicks right together nice and smoothly every time. Only one girl watching LOL. Mrs. O got some competition out here fellows. You guys are the best. I've learned so much, especially about troubleshooting these new cars. When I was younger I wanted to run my own shop like you have. Life happened though and now I'm a warehouse maintanance sup. Fixing machines is my thing now. I never thought I'd be here. I used to be a die hard Chevy guy too. I've bought 5 brand new Chevy's in my life. Four years ago I bought a Toyota 4 Runner. Never going back. Not that I have the much time left.
I've owned Toyota, I had to get a bigger truck. My family got sprouted. More heads to feed. I bought a GMC Terrible terrain. I wish I never bought. But I cleaned it up, cleared codes and sold it back to Gmc😅😅. Bought a Sienna,
That's why we need higher tariffs, so that people like you will be punished for making sound rational decisions based upon what's best for you and your family.
I used to be a diehard Toyota guy. The quality has gone to sht with their trucks and I'm no longer interested. If you haven't heard, 2022+ Tundras are eating crank bearings like the cookie monster eats cookies, and Toyota makes a point of being a scummy manufacturer and blaming you for their bad engineering.
@@hochhaul I do electric and transmissions as a specialty. The new Tacomas have incredibly weak transmissions. The torque converters in them are made of play doh, and their camera and accessory circuits have horrible insulation quality control and the modules for the cameras themselves are pathetic quality compared to what we expect out of Toyota. They still are probably the most consistent brand for quality, but they have taken a stark nosedive compared to their last 20-30 years. I don't have brand loyalty because they all make great stuff, and they all make bad stuff. The newest generation of Colorados are amazing trucks and I have a ZR2. The quality is hands down the best in the category in my professional opinion, but the great irony is that the colorados before 23 were probably the worst truck ever made with the 3.6, trans, and electrical problems it was plagued with from start to finish. We could pick any brand and find a long history of greatness and failure.
Better than current Toyota trucks. The Tacoma is now garbage imported from Mexico and the Tundra has been having engine failures for 3 years now and nothing done about it by Toyota aside from accusing owners of causing it and replacing only with a new short block and old parts, built by a tech at the dealer. $32k job if it's approved for warranty.
It’s satisfying to know the customer green lighted repairs, even more satisfying when you resolve the issue and it’s fixed. I have had more Chevrolets than I care to recall. I currently own a Subaru, and do not plan on ever giving GM any of my money again.
I replaced a transmission control module/valve body on an Equinox a while back. I called a bunch of independent shops to have it programed and no one could do it. I ended bring it to the dealer to have programed. I didn't want to go to the dealer, because of prior experiences. Surprisingly, they did a great job.
I still say that you’re the BEST. I can’t do it because I do not have the brain or the scan tools that you have. But I do know that what you pay tens of thousands of dollars for is all junk. I will never buy a GM vehicle again. But that is what keeps the wolf away from your door. Keep on keeping on. Love your channel. Aaron from Canada.
I watch your channel a lot and am subscribed. I truly enjoy your knowledge and wit. The one thing that annoys me is in your intro when you mention the amount of females that may or may not be watching. If you come out of that cave you are living in, you will find that a tremendous amount of women not only work on vehicles, but also watch channels like yours. Keep up the good work.
Hate to hear you don’t like Chevy’s as I have a 2024 Equinox LT, but appreciate your honesty and your chatter. Originally from Geneva NY but now from SUNNY, FL.
I am impressed with the confidence you attack any problem you're presented. You approach the issues with knowledge you dillagently aquired from aftermarket and/or factory sources. How can anyone diagnose a problem without knowing how the system works? Thank you for displaying skills that are based on your experiance and the ability to use critical thinking to aid you in your diagnosis. I'm a retired mechanic, and I'm glad you're there to inspire future technicians.
As a DIYER, I hate the fact that all the modules need programming. I get the PCM, BCM, but the others can easily be self learning. That isn't a complex module that should need programming. Thanks Eric for making this video.
Hi eric, great video as ever. I'm a vehicle technician in the UK and with airbag faults with the seat airbags a lot of the time the connectors get bumped and then set codes. Most of the time you just unplug the connectors and reconnect them, then reset the codes. Thanks Chris.
Long, long ago i to was a Chevy guy , now I’m 18:00 a Honda guy. Where did it all go wrong? Good video sir as always! I had the passenger presents code on my granddaughter’s car and i removed the connector and cleaned it , reconnected it and no return on the code for 6 months now.
I owned GM products built in '57, 70, '74, 78, 82, 83, 90, 93, 96, 98, 02, 03, 04 (still have the 03 Sirrra and 04 Suburban) but the 2011 Enclave had enough problems for 10 cars. I've had 3 VWs since then, all great. Now my kid sells Toyota, so I'm about to develop a new brand loyalty.
Brand loyalty is moronic and Toyota trucks have been trash in recent years. The Tacoma is now an import from Mexico and was rated least reliable midsize truck by Consumer Reports for 4 years in a row, and the 2022+ Tundra has been having engine failures left and right, and Toyota frequently accuses the owner of being at fault even thought they know the crank bearings are failing due to bad engineering.
Be prepared to see many more Traxes and Encores in the future GM has a corrosion problem with the modules & also the differential cases corroding through. They have issued service bulletin's and are replacing the complete assembly under warranty only in Canada from what I understand. As i haven been told we in the U.S. don't require as much road salt. I had to replace the rear diff on my 2016 Trax to the tune of $3K. I filed a complaint with the NHSTA to no avail. Thanks for the great videos.
I’m sure the steering is effected due to setting input / angle / data is used to determine how much power to end to rear wheels or something along those lines.
Well done diagnosis and fix. Helpful to me since I have a 5 year old Trax, Encore's cousin. Gives me an idea of what working on it involves. Thankfully I don't have AWD.
Hey Eric, I noticed that this video was up yesterday but it was unavailable to non-members of your channel and I was going to call your shop to let you know.......but I forgot. lol When I hear you talk about the things that people bother you with, when your phone was ringing off the hook years back because people would call you for free advice, among other things, I just cannot fathom how inconsiderate people can be. It literally floors me. You and Misses O., are great people and I really enjoy your videos, thank you for making them.
Given that some of the module and connector pins were corroded, after flushing the connectors with D5, as you did in the video, you can brush D100L directly onto the module pins before assemble this will provide more lubrication for the mating pins. It is best to then cycle the connectors a couple of times and you should feel the mating pin force decrease due to the D100L cleaning and lubricating action. The new module has been sitting on the shelf for several years and the connector pins are all oxidized. It is no surprise that they should be treated before installation into the vehicle.
DeoxIT D5 is great stuff! I use it on switches for all the Radio's I rebuild. At 4:22, you said it all! I only buy Toyota or Honda now. This was a good one!! 👍
Possibly Steve Millers best song. +80 Streetcred Mr. O. We love to hear your little stories. Sherwood at Royalty has some real quality videos, thanks to you and him and all the people like you. Stay gold.
Hey Eric, tech tip of the day. DeoxIT D5 is about $25.00 per 5. oz can. Spray a quick burst onto the contacts, it is not brake clean! If you can get it cheaper please let me know!
They used to carry it at my local parts store, but the last 2 yrs they haven't. High price = slow sales? I dunno. Anyhow yes I buy it through Amazon now. I dunno how else to get it.
Been using DeOx-it for 40 years now, back when it was called Cramolin. I have yet seen anything that works better in all that time. Back then they just had red and blue. Red was for cleaning corrosion and blue was for new connections to prevent corrosion or for after using the red. There had to be a ground loop thanks to the corrosion that affected the power steering. After working on Land Rovers for so long that is pretty much the first thing I look for. Defenders have the craziest grounds and you can see all kinds of problems.
Those passenger position sensors are a pain. GM often blames seats for getting wet. I have about a 50% success rate of getting the light off by firmy spanking the seat hard many times. Good luck and excellent video.
Whenever I'm training new folks, I make it a point to drill into their heads: "GMs like naps." Got a code that won't clear even though you know the fault is fixed? Let the car take a nap. Car acting like it's posessed after programming? Let the car take a nap. GMs work hard, they need lots of sleep! As for your passenger presence module issue, as long as you have the VIN in SPS2, might be worthwhile attempting a seat weight sensor calibration. These older bladder-style sensors fail quite frequently, and if they fail way into negative numbers, it can trip a false "internal failure" code. If you're bored, and live data is kind enough to give you an actual calculated weight value, sometimes you can even tease them back into calibration! :D
My trucks bladder developed a leak. It was all gooey. Thought I had a premature guns going off😅😅😅. But I'm on da hunt for a used bladder unit. My abs is staying on.
All good advice. I punched the seat bun a few times haha then did the calibration and it would not even complete. Was using the autel then tried again with GDS2 and same issue.
@@SouthMainAuto Yup, that bun is cooked! Fingers crossed that cushion isn't too expensive, if you can even find one. I'm told they can sometimes be rebuilt, but I have no personal experience with this outside of a customer having had his rebuilt on a 14 Nissan Rogue. I never was able to find out where he had it rebuilt, sadly.
@@SouthMainAuto dont blame gm.. blame the epa, greenies.. being in a 4x4 club, i see sensors sht, then its 1000 ks in limp mode.. cant be fixed..work mate had a gm statesman. v8, 90,s. he washed the motor, it stopped.. the oil sender dont like water.....
A PPS uses sensors to detect if someone is properly seated in the passenger seat and signals if the airbag should be enabled. However, a faulty PPS can cause the system to fail to recognize an occupant, which could lead to the airbag being improperly suppressed during a crash.
A note on Deoxit D, which I have been using in one form or another for 45 years. You don't need to flood the connector with spendy Deoxit--a little dab 'l do ya'. I typically use less spendy contact cleaner (Caig, CRC, etc) to blast away looser corrosion, then a quick, light spritz of Deoxit, then exercise the connector with its mate 5 or 6 times, to use friction and Deoxit together to remove remaining corrosion, then blow the connector with canned or compressor air and reassemble. The remaining residual Deoxit film will inhibit future corrosion for a long time.
Regardless of what some would say about sinking money into an old car, if the car is paid for , then any repair cost will be less than ANY replacement vehicle replacement cost, and you know the history of the one you already own.I used to be a Chevy guy too so now I own one from that era.
Interesting, you said one gal might be at least 2 gals? This is Jennifer from Michigan. Have been following you for several years now. Love your videos. And yes you still are very expensive to watch as you show various must get tools as I'm a toolaholic... LoL
Actually am familiar with Deoxit myself here in the south. We use it in audio/video production to clean potentiometers and contacts and such what. Excellent spray to have! 👍
Always great to watch your videos. I doubt if I will have to do any of this type of troubleshooting but might be handy to see if the tech on our vehicles is pissing on my leg..
When you use Deoxit D5, spray the female and male pins, plugs.... plug together in and out a few times to clean the contact areas off. No need to blow it out at all. The chemical is inert, no conductivity hose it up, leave it there.
Now you did it! Amazon is sold out of dioxit. I was a chevy guy too. Until they sold me a new 1980 Silverado that broke down every other day for 10 years. It was my first new truck and I could not afford to replace it. Ever hear of a driveshaft breaking the welds to the yoke and falling out at a green light? It happens.
Another good video Eric thank you you're correct after 2002 Chevrolets went into the clunker GM used to be built 23% better than any Ford or Dodge are Toyota or Honda but when they reformed under the LLC they took that 23% out of GM
When the Ecoturds came out, that was the beginning of the end for the tried and true GM 4 cyl. Then they decided to tack a turbo onto them..Oh brother. They put the final nail in the coffin when the 3.6 V6 came out. Now only the V8s are any good.
You are a smart guy, so thousands of women probably watch this channel. You may not realize it, but you probably saved viewers millions of dollars just by teaching views something about how cars work, thus making it harder for crooks to sell people parts they don't need, or have no idea what they are, or do.

With a proper scan tool. You can do it.

I was a gm guy for 50 years but in 2020 switched to Nissan trucks and couldn’t be happier
Nissan is the Chrysler of Japan lol
It’s satisfying to know the customer green lighted repairs, even more satisfying when you resolve the issue and it’s fixed. I have had more Chevrolets than I care to recall. I currently own a Subaru, and do not plan on ever giving GM any of my money again.
To much electronic parts on vehicles now days. Good job Eric
I was a GM fan for many years. My 16 Acadia cured me of that !
HI Mrs. O. and you also Eric, Hey all your videos are good, I don't care what they are! Thanks Eric!
Just another Chica watching you fix stuff.
Mr. O can perform in the dark, who knew. Great job.
Good to see you use deoxit to flush out all the green corrosion out the way it was meant to be used .
I work on small jets for Cessna and Pratt and Whitney calls out DeoxIT D5 to clean the wire harness on Jet Engines every 800 hours.
Great video Dr. O. Built in obsoletion just like our computers and mobile devices!
Always enjoy the network diagnostics, Eric. Heck, I enjoy them all!! Thanks as always.
Speaking of glare, when the electricity was out the other day, that video looked awesome with you just working by flashlight and screens.
Good job on the fix.
It’s a win!
I was a Chevy guy for a long time,
but no more, I moved on to Honda/ Acura.
Can’t say I regret it.
I always find the rectification of the fault once established, closes the loop and completes the info. Not boring, but insightful.
"A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that music
Used to make me smile..."
Great video as always... And from the comments below there are quite a few ladies watching your videos too !.and that's awesome. Only the best on SMA.
Thanks Eric for the Friday upload. Have a great Memorial Day weekend! 🇺🇸
Hate to hear you don’t like Chevy’s as I have a 2024 Equinox LT, but appreciate your honesty and your chatter. Originally from Geneva NY but now from SUNNY, FL.
Glad you are using proper factory torque specs as I hear the double click.
Those dreaded factory specs… brought to you by lawyers.
You do know he is making the clicking noise? You aren't wrong about lawyers.
Luna doesn't seem to know how lucky she is. Don't worry though she'll come around!
love that patented torque click.
The follow-up videos are very much appreciated, no doubt. This channel is a new favorite, you've earned a sub.
Not a girl, but I do tune into your channel with my Fiancee when she's reading, so that counts for something!
Girl power has spoken there is a lot of women viewers, keep up the good work
As a DIYER, I hate the fact that all the modules need programming.
Nice job Mr. O! Canbus stuff gets confusing for me but I enjoy seeing your logic at work.
Hey Eric,
I noticed that this video was up yesterday but it was unavailable to non-members of your channel and I was going to call your shop to let you know.......but I forgot. lol
When I hear you talk about the things that people bother you with, when your phone was ringing off the hook years back because people would call you for free advice, among other things, I just cannot fathom how inconsiderate people can be. It literally floors me.
You and Misses O., are great people and I really enjoy your videos, thank you for making them.
Read his description in the last video, he has it that way for a reason lol.
Thanks for the shout out to the girl! I feel more accepted.
Deoxit is great for cleaning and lubing potentiometers too
Given that some of the module and connector pins were corroded, after flushing the connectors with D5, as you did in the video, you can brush D100L directly onto the module pins before assemble this will provide more lubrication for the mating pins.
I love the time savings of the onboard torque wrench......the clicker needed to be a little louder.....good vid
Royalty auto service. Really good channel! Definitely recommend.
great diagnosis and fix Mr O!
Stay gold.
Nice clicker torque wrench. Never needs batteries
Great diagnosis thanks for posting ! I bought one of these for a family member, and what a toilet these are.
Hey Eric, tech tip of the day. DeoxIT D5 is about $25.00 per 5. oz can. Spray a quick burst onto the contacts, it is not brake clean! If you can get it cheaper please let me know!
Amazon has it for $17.99 for the 5 oz can. Free shipping if you have Prime.
Thanks for the videos i learn your way to find a fault well done
A PPS uses sensors to detect if someone is properly seated in the passenger seat and signals if the airbag should be enabled. However, a faulty PPS can cause the system to fail to recognize an occupant, which could lead to the airbag being improperly suppressed during a crash.
Thank you for what you do. Amazing work.
Nice one on networks and the interaction between modules
Nice fix Mr. O. Like the Cameo of the family/shop cat and Mrs. O.
If you "were" a Chevy guy, what are you now???
Love your channel
That hard edit @ 4:54 caught me off guard!! Not the usual SMA fadeout/in 🙃
Dang! Missed one :(
Regardless of what some would say about sinking money into an old car, if the car is paid for , then any repair cost will be less than ANY replacement vehicle replacement cost, and you know the history of the one you already own.I used to be a Chevy guy too so now I own one from that era.
Tge follow ups are fine. I like seeing it fixed and working.
You are a smart guy, so thousands of women probably watch this channel. You may not realize it, but you probably saved viewers millions of dollars just by teaching views something about how cars work, thus making it harder for crooks to sell people parts they don't need, or have no idea what they are, or do.
