Developers lied and tricked my mother to sell them our family home. It was a small home with a decent size yard, nice vegetable garden, apple, pear and cherry trees, grapevines and blackberries. She did NOT want to sell it to someone who would bulldoze it and build a Mcmansion, preffering a buyer who would appreciate and take care of the yard and home. I believe it was Olson realty in Lake Oswego and rennisance, who lied and tricked her. They built a new Mcmansion, taking up most of the property and destroying the yard. 6 months later, They ended up reselling the place for a $1.3 million dollar profit. Lying about remodling the existing home and maintaining the yard, lying, decieving and tricking the seller to get ahold of the property. Breaking the agreed contract whether verbal or written. They knew what they were doing and how to decieve.
I moved here in January 16th 1998. I thought this town was rad. After years of living here for the past 10yrs it has gone to complete crap. I used to go watch shows at the Satyricon was a very good time. Now just can't go there without being armed... Portland was a really cool town. Too bad it's gone to waste...
If this woman is serious I hope she gets the buyer to sign a binding contract and not just take their word for it, otherwise she'll just get taken advantage of like so many others
I was only born in 2000, but I still remember when the streets weren't so wide, and traffic was low, and there used to be houses instead of coffin apartments.
1965. I know. I know..im still super handsome..its crazy..ANYWAY , yes. Indeed time changes everything. I grew up in a city that had stood for 1400 years. Before white people even heard about this land. Its changed too . They also enacted a law that made drugs legal..you might have heard of it . Lisbon, Portugal. the architecture hasn't. Its incredible. Some of it was built by the Moors. In 800 Ad. Some by the ROMANS. But its soul died like here. Bad and dumb marxists took power. The more things change...
I love her plan I can't lie I love her plan and I would be the one to buy her house and leave it just as it is with the front yard and continue on the legacy that she has started and created for the city of Portland she has a kind heart and a very creative way of giving back to the
I love to live in Portland but couldn’t afford 500k house. And even though affordable, I don’t dare to put my kids at risks also. It’s far away from the time we enjoyed coffee at 2 am around mall 205. My poor kids didn’t have a chance to see what beautiful Portland was! Portland is weird but not this kind of weird.
I lived in Portland for 27 years and finally got fed up with all the crime I saw everywhere. Never going back. Moved to a small town on the east coast with no crime.
I think Portland isn't weird anymore. Its just haves and have nots and most are probably desperately just trying to stay above water with the current cost of living.
It's still a fabulous neighborhood in spite of the new condos. I wish I could buy her home, I would love to have a food cart in my front yard. I would plant big, lush hydrangea bushes, hang bird feeders and put in a big cutting flower garden for the neighbors to share♥
I wish more people selling their homes would think of their neighbors when matching a right buyer with the community. Some people fit and other disrupt the entire neighborhood, and even destroy it...devaluing other properties
You cant dictate what can ve built on land to a certsin legal degree. It becomes a restrictive covenant, many of which were outlawed in msny cities snd states
Actually, she can. Restrictive covenants are not outlawed in Oregon in general or Portland specifically. That said, historically they have been used for to keep races out of neighborhoods, and obviously that type of restrictive covenant wouldn't be allowed and is outlawed. In fact, you can see lots of restrictive covenants in HOAs all over the US... They are actually pretty common.
The only thing that happened there is the cost of living went through the roof. Its inevitable that everything will be worth a million bucks and will get bulldozed and developed. I cringe to think what her property taxes are now.
You are so right on your believes. I honor you. My girl is the same way. We strungle to but hey its a new day. People today need hope. Open up a place called. Its a new day. A place that you ask you get.
I love her beluefs. I've seen the whole character of a neighborhood change with highrise and condos replacing older structures it brings sadness.. Dull and sterile
Those houses have character- unlike the cookie-cutter Mc Mansions that people can't afford, of today. Houses can be updated, remodeled, and repainted- it's cheaper and better than building new and preserves the historical value of the community.
She wants market value and wants to have a say in how the person will use their land. Like at least give it a discount if you truly care, she’s just greedy like all other Portland landlords that created this mess.
Never gonna happen. Since she started her life there zoning has changed and everything she currently enjoys will be grandfathered out when it changes hands. Simply won't be a feasable dream.
Go up and knock? It ain't like corporate landlords aren't jamming reams of flyers into all of our doors and mailboxes trying to get us to sell in this neighborhood in the first place. And ringing our phones every damn day trying to buy us out of our own home just to rent it back to us for double our monthly net worth.
So wait… she’s a landlord. She dared own property and lease it to someone (probably to support retirement). Isn’t she supposed to be evil? A leech? No? She’s got the right politics. We LOVE THIS landlord. 😂
So i buy your shack for 800K and you get to tell me how to run it eh? Sorry Mabel Im smashing that old fartbag box of sticks and going commercial highrise and calling it "whispering pines" 1 and 2 bedroom studios starting at only $2,300.00 a month haha then once their in I raise the leases about 15% a year. Take your check and get out get outta there and get on up to Detroit Lake or Lynnville. What? You aint out yet I said get outta there Hazel
We need housing so very badly that it is almost a taunt that this homeowner is refusing to sell to developers because times are different now. We all love thinking about the past. So far, no one has ever managed to go back, though.
refreshing to see someone who cares so much about their community
What a sweet soul. She’s so right. Wishing her the best.
she never went to sleep she stayed awake through the onset of technology thats happened in the past 15 years shes awesome
Aww, I used to live down Hawthorne from her, and I want to thank her for renting out that lovely spot!

Crazy! Weird how you see so many realtors and travel agents recently about Portland 😉
@@Azazel2024 Why do you think you see more realtors and travel agents about Portland?
What do you think?
Developers destroyed Portland. Used to be such a cool city.
Yes, I am that old too.. I loved to go to Portland..now I go around Portland...

@charlesm3724 Not everyone though...
drugs destroyed Portland
How right you are. Sad isnt it. @KeikoFXDesigns
Bless this lady for caring about her community. This is the Portland I remember.❤
If this woman is serious I hope she gets the buyer to sign a binding contract and not just take their word for it, otherwise she'll just get taken advantage of like so many others
🤣🤣🤣🤣. Obviously that worked for so many others. She'll take $
Awww .....this is the Portland I miss. I hope she finds the right buyer!
I would love to be that person for her. Carry out the love and peace we once were!
Aww, hope she finds somebody who will honour her wishes 🙏

Isn't the lack of housing the cause of homelessness? This sounds like modern redlining.
They will tax her right out of that place guaranteed.
I love her plan I can't lie I love her plan and I would be the one to buy her house and leave it just as it is with the front yard and continue on the legacy that she has started and created for the city of Portland she has a kind heart and a very creative way of giving back to the
Good for her!!!!! Behind her 100%
My old Bike paper route from Division to Hawthorne 42nd to 50th 1960s
She's not wrong though...

She can discriminate on her own, A Real Estate Broker NEVER will
Good on her. Keep Portland weird!
What an amazing lady! Wish more people had this sharing, neighborly heart❤
It's still a fabulous neighborhood in spite of the new condos. I wish I could buy her home, I would love to have a food cart in my front yard. I would plant big, lush hydrangea bushes, hang bird feeders and put in a big cutting flower garden for the neighbors to share♥

The house will eventually be sold to a developer anyway.
smart lady. Many houses and a chinese church sold out in my neighborhood. Developer's and their APT's with no parking. smh!
The only thing that happened there is the cost of living went through the roof. Its inevitable that everything will be worth a million bucks and will get bulldozed and developed. I cringe to think what her property taxes are now.
I'd love to buy the house but in this economy, it'd be hard with the mortgage % but I hope she finds her buyer
You are so right on your believes. I honor you. My girl is the same way. We strungle to but hey its a new day. People today need hope. Open up a place called. Its a new day. A place that you ask you get.
She’s a sweet woman but, you can’t control everything. I mean, I hope she finds the buyer she wants.
I love her beluefs. I've seen the whole character of a neighborhood change with highrise and condos replacing older structures it brings sadness.. Dull and sterile
Yes, those rundown, clapboard houses with the chipped paint and busted out window panes are always so endearing!
What’s it like, living without a soul?
Those houses have character- unlike the cookie-cutter Mc Mansions that people can't afford, of today. Houses can be updated, remodeled, and repainted- it's cheaper and better than building new and preserves the historical value of the community.
Like she’s a little old lady and not cashing in. Fooled me.
How much though
She wants market value and wants to have a say in how the person will use their land. Like at least give it a discount if you truly care, she’s just greedy like all other Portland landlords that created this mess.
She is so right. ❤
Be careful might have a tents 🏕️ under the tree 😏
Never gonna happen. Since she started her life there zoning has changed and everything she currently enjoys will be grandfathered out when it changes hands. Simply won't be a feasable dream.
Good luck with those stipulations.
That house looks like a money pit.
Take the money and run, or at least move to someplace nice.
Wish someone knew how to contact her ❤
Go up and knock?

Lovely person. She is so wise and kind.
Bless that lady!!!🙏
Love this lady to pieces!! She is a stunning ray of love and light❤
❤❤❤❤❤
What a sweet lady ❤
Isn't this like a restaurant serving only to certain type of people ? It should be open to anyone to buy.
It will be eventually
Wtf are you talking about? You’re welcome to buy food from that restaurant any time you like
❤
So wait… she’s a landlord. She dared own property and lease it to someone (probably to support retirement). Isn’t she supposed to be evil? A leech? No? She’s got the right politics. We LOVE THIS landlord. 😂
Another 500 mil. for developers last week. Portland is a lost cause.
Won't happen
🙄
Sell it to a developer and go buy your dream property . Life is short . Do it !
Is there any chance from India to buy that house
😂 losers

Artificial house shortage.
