    My duty and EDC gun since 2001. Now that I'm (semi-retired) retired I carry it every day everywhere. G26 reliability, dependability and interchangeability is the reason. I have 17s, a 19 and a 43, but my 26s are my choice for everyday defense of my life and my loved ones. Great vid, thanks.

    Great choice.. I have the G-26 gen5 that I carry as a EDC/off duty a lot when not carrying my G-19 gen5 or my G-19X. The 26 will serve you well as being compatible to nearly all other Glocks on parts and magazines. I've shot my G-26 gen 5 with Agent sights and placed in a steel gun match. Never worry about what others say about your choice of EDC as long as it works and fits your use etc.

    Im not a glocktard or fanboy, but im a realist and like to think practically. If you can shoot you can shoot the gun isnt going to matter much. Glocks are simple and like you stated interchangeably is a reason I have a few.

      I think we in the gun community we over think handguns. Example:
      - oh, this guns grip angle isn't to my liking
      - my trigger is better than yours
      - your gun has 5 bullets mine has 10
      - my gun is a sub-compact 10mm i.e. it is best in power
      When the only thing that matters with all handguns is: *reliability*
      And the main thing that matters with CCW weapons is: *concealability*
      All that said, the Glock 26 (any Gen.) is my absolute favorite pistol.
      *BUT* IMO the *Glock 43* is the best Glock for CCW, period.
      Note: The G43 is really a slim-line G26.

    I’ve tried many other compact firearms platforms and it seems I always come back to the 26. For me it I just can’t beat it. I have competed in several Glock GSSF matches and IDPA matches with my 26 Gen3 and its a winner ! All I can say is the 19/26 combo is all I will ever need.

    G26 with G17 back up mag since 2008ish. I own the 42, 43, and 19 too... the 26 is the sweet spot with ultimate flexibility in mags. (Even a 33rd, lol) I've never had one issue with my 26, ever. XS big dot sights is the only mod I ever made.
    Congrats on your decision - I'm sold on mine.

    I liked your comments on practicing and becoming proficient with your edc. I think it's not talked about enough. Find what works best and commit and practice with it. I have many pistols but narrow it down to two that I practice and train with. The P320 compact . . carry/home defense and the Walther PPS m2. I practice with both extensively. I practiced with both yesterday and it seems I need a lot more practice!!😋

    Purchased the G26 Gen 3 last year and I love it for the reasons you cite, albeit, I disagree with your take about the magazine grip extension (Pearce, etc.). They have worked flawlessly for me with zero issues. Moreover, it provides a better grip. Your point about the manufacturer specifically made the grip shorter for a good reason is noted; but why did you change the sights and trigger? I will answer the question for you, i.e., you wanted better sights and a better trigger. No issues there . . . Similarly, that is WHY people want a longer, more secure grip (for that dangling pinkie). My point is that the shorter grip works for you, but not so much for everyone else.
    Otherwise, outstanding review. No idea why your site isn't more popular, e.g., you are very relaxed, cogent, and most important, you know your subject. I will be looking for more videos from you.

      I appreciate the support and compliment, thank you. My subscriber count is all organic, none were purchased and I’ve never ridden the coattails of others. Not all channels can say that.
      The difference in aftermarket magazines is the manufacturer didn’t test them. The smooth trigger is from a G17 so it is 100% OEM. Sights have nothing to do with feeding the gun so that argument is irrelevant. Anyone who feels comfortable with aftermarket mags and extensions should carry that way. I have carried the 26 with a Magpul 12 rounder, so I’m not opposed to the idea.

      As a follow up.... your thoughts on gen3 vs gen4 vs gen5? I can readily obtain any of these through BL program and was wondering if you could maybe share your opinions on whether or not one shines through over the other. I like the gen5 because of the absence of finger grooves.

    • @PoeOutdoors
      @PoeOutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      I only have experience with the Gen 3s and 4s, haven't held a Gen 5 yet. I personally like the finger grooves especially on the 26 since it has a short grip. I could do without the grooves on larger guns but they feel fine in my hands.

    Have you considered the original (12 round) M&P 9c? Barely (and I mean barely) larger than the G26, but it holds 12 rounds. I own a G27, G19, G17, and G43. I originally used my G27 as a primary CCW. I've tried to carry my G19, and bought 2 different holsters for it for CCW. However, I have a slim frame and just can't comfortably conceal it well enough (bottom of the grip always prints). The G43 is easy to carry and easy to conceal - in warmer months. However, I switched to the M&P 9c for CCW in colder months - and it effectively carries as easy as the G27 (or G26), but holds two more rounds. For whatever reason, the M&P 9c just never caught on as a viable competitor to the G26/G19.
    PS: I won't buy a Sig P365 until the current issues with it are fully resolved.

    • @PoeOutdoors
      @PoeOutdoors  6 лет назад

      I've held the M&Pc but it just wasn't a good for for me in size and balance, good capacity in a concealable gun though. A friend of mine loves the 1.0 M&Ps and owns several.

  • @davetripper

    I’m considering a 26 Gen 3 for primary EDC in CA because it’s one of the few great options on the unconstitutional CA gun roster. But also for all the reasons you stated - mostly versatility, aftermarket, and parts compatibility (I also have the Gen 3 17 and 34). The mag compatibility idea for a 9mm PCC makes sense too. Just curious with all the newer micro and subcompact 9s out there if you’re still carrying the 26 as your EDC?

    • @PoeOutdoors
      @PoeOutdoors  2 года назад +1

      Can’t go wrong with it honestly. I don’t carry the 26 much these days, carried a 48 for quite a while but landed on the 365. I can carry it small with 10 rounds but also have the 12 and 15 round mags so it’s versatile as well. I am looking hard at the 48 mos, might have to grab one.

    Why the Glock 26 over the Sig p365?
    I can understand your decision.
    I thought about buying the p365 ( I have not held one yet), but I am concerned about obtaining a decent grip on a pistol so small.
    I already have difficulty with a good grip on the Glock 43.
    I have decided to carry the p320 subcompact because it is easy to conceal and I shoot it much better due to better grip.
    Is the same experience that you had?
    I carry at 4 o’ clock and can easily conceal the subcompact p320. I found that I don’t mind the width of the pistol at all.
    Excellent video. I continue to learn excellent points from your channel.
    I also started working out after seeing some of your videos.
    Take care.
    Keep up the good work

    The argument of carrying similar manual of arms (G19/G26) makes a lot of sense. In my case I carry an M&P Shield or an M&P 2.0 Compact but the 2.0 compact feels just a tad bit big and the grip texture--even after sanding it down--still feels uncomfortable at times. Would you recommend trying out the M&P 9c to achieve that middle-ground that the G26 gives you? From what I understand it's similar in size to the G26 and carries 12+1 which sounds very appealing compared to my Shield's 8+1. Plus it doesn't have that 2.0 sandpaper grip that bothers me.

    I need your opinion I’m in California and want a G26. Now a new Gen3 on roster right now is about $630 plus tax. I have an opportunity to purchase off roster Gen5 for $1000 so basically $300 give or take more than a Gen3 do you recommend for me to get the Gen5 ?

    • @PoeOutdoors

      Both will work reliability for a long time. My personal preference is the Gen 3 because I like the finger grooves, the Gen 5 didn't feel good to me. The Gen 3 would leave a lot of $ for spare mags, parts or ammo when you can find it.
