I had the great good fortune to see Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy in concert in the mid 80s in Fall River, MA as my mom was a huge fan and it was amazing. Opened my eyes to a whole new type of music and I've been a fan ever since. Loved hearing the stories and some of their wonderful songs again - it was like going back in time to that concert!

I really enjoyed this interview. We grew up with records of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem in NZ. The lyrics in the first song reminded me of elements of other songs. There's an English one that my mother used to sing "The Keys of Canterbury." "How old are you, my fair, pretty maid? How old are you, my darling? I'm seventeen come Sunday, " and The Nightingale has the line about having already a wife of my own.
