I don't know if this comment is a joke I'm not in on or an actual comment people agree with, but I grew up on the show. He IS good person. "This is never change what people say." Goddamn poetry.
Paul Ruben is actually an extremely intelligent and talented person who plays a dumb part. It's like Christina Applegate is extremely intelligent and talented and is extremely good at playing dumb. Pee Wee's Big Adventure is so off the wall that it's fun. Who could ever forget Pee Wee dancing on a bar to the tune of Tequila for a room full of bikers? It's pure genius. It's so dumb it brilliant. And Paul Ruben can also do a serious roll like he did in the movie Blow staring Johnny Depp. Ruben maybe a bit odd but he is interesting and intelligent and it's cool to hear his stories.

Pee Wee was my childhood. I was born in 1987. The first ever movie I've ever seen was quite possibly Pee Wee's Big Adventure on VHS It's awesome to see Paul's doing good. I can't see anyone else but Tim Burton directing Big Adventure!
@@fkaiba94 I found that part quite frightening. You definitely felt the fear Pee Wee felt when he rescued the Snakes. My favorite parts are the Large Marge bit (I was in awe of Burton's animations even at 5 years old) & the first interaction of Francis & Pee Wee (arguing like a couple of man-children) Hahahahahahaha.
I enjoy showing people the old tv show of pee wee and pointing out the soon to be big stars that make up the characters. My favorite is Cowboy Curtis. Its good to know what his life was like before he was freed from the matrix.
The best part in the movie was when he was leaving the bar and he takes off on the motorcycle and plows rite through the billboard and goes head over heals.
I mentioned this before, but if they ever decide to do a biographical movie of the life and career of Paul Reubens, I think Jim Parsons, AKA Sheldon from “The Big Bang Theory”, would be a perfect choice to play Paul/Peewee, if he was willing! 😃👍
When I first saw Pee Wee's Big Adventure when it first came out, I thought it was the dumbest thing I ever saw and I'm a Pee Wee fan. Then with each subsequent viewing it got funnier and funnier to the point where it's in my top 10 comedies of all time. I still quote it regularly. And for the record, he was hilarious in Meatballs.
1:08 "It really kind of just came out that day, it was...it never changed really very much." I mean wow, 😮, did your jaw not drop when he said that? To just one day improv something that would define your career for ~40+ years and make you millions of dollars over years on tv and a movie, making you forever part of the hearts and minds of generations of kids and adults alike and just being a unforgettable cultural touchstone of a character.
I remember before the TV show and the movie Pee Wees playhouse did a two week gig at the Roxy in Hollywood. The Rocky Horror show did the same thing before they made Rocky Horror picture show.
Wow the last two minutes of this really demonstrates that the studio heads and the administrators are working on formulas and think they know everything. And the creative types cannot get their projects through. Peewee Herman's big adventure would never happen without that man sitting right there making it happen not only in his head but through his actions. That movie was epic hilarious If there is anybody who wants to see a similar story, you simply need to read Steve Martin's autobiography? I'm not sure what you call it but he has the same experience trying to get the movie. "the jerk." Rob Reiner and his family I think got in on it but if it weren't for them, and the tapes who were cutting edge, in and out of the studio, "the jerk" would've never been made. Steve Martin talks about it and in his book he adds that it was the "highest grossing comedy film of all time, thank you very much." And of course once he had that money and recognition they gave him some more freedom. Sort of like Bill Murray was allowed to do the razors edge, but he had to agree to do "stripes"? I think it was? In the studio refused to consider Bill Murray capable of pulling off the serious acting role. The razors edge was a very good movie. I wonder how many of these creative ideas are just destroyed by the time we see them on film because those stupid studio heads have no idea what normal people really want to see. The movies are just ridiculous now because it's all green screen and fake. It's not worth even going to see
Now this is something that you never considered that when Paul Rubens had Pee Wee's Playhouse on television during the 1980's he then thought that he would have something that could be on a different path that what Dr. Fred Rogers had on PBS, and that is a fact! I just wanted someone to consider what would be the facts involving the truth about someone who would do work for children!
Paul is a seriously under rated actor. Just because he was beating off in a port theatre people wrote him off. I still got mad love for peewee. Also, his film might be one of the only tim Burton films I actually love
He says it a lot...there is another interview of him as paul rubens and he was giving advice on comedy and he said the perfect thing to ssay when a joke falls flat or a story gets no applause, he said to wait a beat and then say "I love that story"....go watch more of his interviews when he is in the pee wee character, he says it all the time.
