I study a lot of biochemistry. When you dissolve salt in water you get individual ionic atoms of sodium and chloride. Carboxylation and decarboxylation are mechanisms used in biochemistry very often. Is the CO2 a single bubble of gas or is it more like the salt ions? In thermodynamics, gas equations get corrections when you work with extremes. When the gas gets very rarified in a container you move on to statistical dynamics to explain the behavior of the gas. In what form is CO2 that we write out so nonchalantly?
