"Philips head" screws on Japanese bikes are always stripped out because they are not Philips heads they are JIS and everyone is using the wrong screwdrivers...
I thought he was going to explain just that but he didn't. Vessel makes a lot of jis drivers so that probably was one.
Correct
Good to know. I remember the old Reed and Prince, but this one is new to me. Thanks.
The other thing that can help is one of those manual impact drivers. Not the electric or pneumatic kind, the kind you hit with a hand hammer. They can really be a lifesaver on tight screws.
@@Lucas12v for sure you can even use one of those after turning the head into a flathead. But having the right bit in even that really helps.
Fix the speed-o and the cruise will probably work. Bike's gotta know how fast it's going to set the speed...
Also, the cruise on these bikes only works in top gear.
I’ve watched a lot of your videos. Caleb is the celebration king. You definitely want him on your team whenever you succeed. He will make you feel like a rockstar. What a great guy!
Lol the “nNoOoOOOOOO!!!” Whenever he found something wrong
Definitely had me cracking up!
Funniest part is he keeps saying he got ripped off when he literally got the cheapest bike 😭

Then they die of old age and the family sells it for 2k

@@BobbyTucker I ended up getting rid of that bike and got a new one
Sean, your farmer's tan goes perfectly with the beard and American flag tank top. 🇺🇸
All signs of a good murican
It's not a tank top, the sleeves are just pale white guy colored.
Beat me to it😂
No better way to respect the flag than to put it in your sweaty armpit.
Reminds me a little of the martial arts instructor in Napoleon Dynamite. “Think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I’m wearing these bad boys!?!...forget about it.”
I use to have one of those... amazing bike... completely use to love it... amazing MPG, good sound sytem, comfy AF, Cruise control... and runs like hell.. 1200cc 4-in Line... 55K miles and Still runs Hard 🔥
My fuel injected '85 1200LE has 117kmi and it wants to go all day at 90mph.
I have an 84 Goldwing with 157XXX km on it and it still rides like a dream, I call it a couch on wheels 400 km ride without stopping no problem
Love those 1200 Voyagers! Fast, smooth, easy to work on (compared to a 'Wing)...and they made them unchanged for over 15 years. Most cost effective touring bike ever made. Thank you Kawasaki...
The trunk is flopping around like it’s about to fall off. I still want that bike.
I'll trade my mother in law for that bike. If not that's fine you can just have her.
take my wife for example..... no for real, take her....
For those bikes, I’d trade your mother-in-law too. 😉 😉 😉
@@MrMatt713 fr?
If u didn't have a mitherlaw, u wouldnt have ur wife, dude...
My mother in law is wonderful. I get along with her great.
Now my wife's mother in law can be a real pain at times.
My Guess is the Cruise Control needs the Speedometer to function.
true
"I got ripped off!"
XD
no it dont
You should be in 4th gear at least for cruise control and running more than 6o Kilometers speed IMHO
Assuming that is the Audivox or whatever unit, it has to have an electronic pick-up on the front wheel unless they sprung for a REALLY expensive converter box the speedo cable plugs into which then plugs into the speedo.
"Didn't take you for a quitter" - see, Sean is experienced at auctions, most of us would have snapped that bait right up and kept on bidding up the price of something we really didn't want. You my hero, boss
I thought he said “queer” 😬😂
@@ElyCaroom Me too, lol! I was like "what?" lol
reply to all: I definitely thought he said queer and rewatch for 5th time but I am so glad for another perspective. just seemed bizarre in this day and age

Yes thanks , i thought it was “queer” , but quitter makes more sense and def fits the pronunciation ; +1 to OP for internet rage de-escalation
As a 35yr old non balding man that likes motorcycles, the keeps ad definitely speaks to me. Thanks Sean!
Just embrace it and go full chrome dome. It's pretty nice except for sun burn.
Trust me dude, shave it all off! 👍
@Brian MAyes "As a 35yr old non balding man " .... so in other words, you're an alien...
So happy to see these videos starting up again, they were missed!!!
Try using a JIS screwdriver on those screws and you're a lot less likely to strip the heads. The Japanese bikes use JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) heads, which are like Phillips, but slightly different. Using a Phillips on a JIS head screw can strip it pretty easily.
Thanks for reminding me. I really need one.
Vessel JIS impact screwdrivers. JIS bits, a must for everything japanese.
I was thinking if those heads are always stripped, they must use Japanese "Philips."
Everyone needs at least one set of these drivers.
Battery Light is on because the acid level is low in the battery they have a sensor for that on those
Light is on because battery installed has no sensor hole.
They didnt spend money on a battery that has a sensor hole in it. Lol.
Probably just a glass mat battery anyway
Been missing these auction videos!! Glad they’re back open! 👍🏼
This needs to be a series. Auctions with you guys is awesome
apparently seans big mouth got them kicked out
I would absolutely love to see more action videos! Keep up the great work guys!
Please we need more bike/vehicle customization and mods. Love the content btw, be sure to keep up the good work
I rode one of those Buells for 4 days - pace vehicle for bicycle race weeked - amazing machine but after 45 min so uncomfortable, leg gets cooked. After a 6 hour night on it , the next 3 days made me question some life choices...
This is my first time seeing your page and I ab so freaking-lutely love it. Completely awesome job guys. 🙏👍😎
These Velorex sidecars are awesome. I mounted one of these to 2005 Sportster. Great to bring your wife, kids or pets with you!
So awesome seeing you guys do what you love!
I’m a wholesaler out of Dallas and I go to the dallas NPA every auction. It’s been CRAZY trying to buy. But you will still find deals for sure! Cool to see inside Philly NPA
Are prices around the same both places .? I would love to go to the US buy a bike and tour the Country for a month or so .I know that its extra risky buying at Auction though .
Love your channel, because of you, FortNine and quarantine i'm buying my first bike. So excited to finally be riding motorcycles
I had '86 Voyager 1200 I bought new. Great bike, easy to ride and maneuver. I rode all over the US west and as a daily commuter 100 miles round trip. Only a few minor problems until at around 150K miles an internal drive chain snapped and locked the engine. I didn't have the money for a shop to replace the engine or the time to do it myself so I sold it to a motorcycle salvage yard.
I'll always miss it.
Old style content like this should make return.
Entertaining but good business insight as well
I love you guys videos like these where you buy the cheapest bikes and fix them. This makes me want to go to an auction just to learn how to fix one 😎.
Hi Super Sean, loved the content got 2 bikes for rent with Riders-share and already bought and sold for a profit 2 other bikes, I’m getting my own business inspire by you !
Thanks for the inspiration!
The best.
Great Job man learn something everytime keep up the great show.
I own 2 vstar 1100s the starter clutch isn’t that hard to change if you take your time and buy a service manual. You will probably have to buy a couple of tools. The first one I did took me 8hrs the second one took 5hrs and the parts cost less than $300 including all the seals gaskets and the oil to refill the bike. While you have the side cover off it’s also a perfect time to preventatively replace the shift shaft seal.
Hi, am from India and my mind gets blown when I see videos like this where you get such bikes for under or around 1000USD. Here where I live, an nice 200cc bike would easily cost upwards of 2000USD and even used ones come over 1000USD.
Yeh dukkh kaahe khatam nahi hotaa!! 😂
Watching this vid from Ukraine. Envy you guys.
That’s cos you are in a gareeb country bro. 90% use goats to get around 😂😂😂
@@MishMash22 you're deranged if you think goats are means of transportation. utilitarian motorcycles are a thing in India and are more commonplace than USA.

Long time ago I bought a Voyager XII at an auction. I wanted to keep it but sold it for a $700 profit. LOVED how it rode. So well balanced, tons of torque, felt much lighter than it is.
It was Kawasaki's answer to Honda's GL1200 and would actually outperform the 'Wing. Then in 1988 Honda intro'd the 6 cylinder GL1500 and the Voyager XII just kinda faded into history after that, unloved and unremembered.
@@Leftycraig48 I would take a Kawasaki over a Honda any day, I've never liked Hondas even though I've owned several. They just don't measure up to a Kawasaki to me.
Sweet deal, I've got a 91 Voyager XII as well! Love that bike, my speedometer doesn't work either! Our bikes are basically twins lol
Sean! You need to do a 'buying the cheapest and most expensive motorized bicycle kits on amazon' video. Not only would it be a riot watching you guys build and ride motorized bikes, but the most expensive kits you can get go up a ridiculous amount in horsepower over a stock bssic bike kit.
Good idea!

Good video. You guys are great. You offer good advice and are very informative.
driving down the interstate does seem like the best time to figure out what the buttons on your bike do.
Driving in the left lane next to the camera truck slower than a truck pulling a massive camper while merging onto the highway...Pennsylvania drivers...
Thinking the same and everything on the left lane!
A lot of $1200 stimulus checks in that room
Stripped screws probably used a Phillips head, rather than a jis head. Looks the same, Phillips were designed for Cadillac because workers were over tightening screws and destroying expensive parts. Phillips are designed to back out when too much torque is used. Easy to replace a .01 cent screw rather than a $50-500 part. Jis looks so much the same, but I was gifted one in the ‘80’s for use on my Honda Twinstar, and never stripped a screw on it. Lost the screwdriver, now I ride a Harley! Great bike, rode a Voyager when new. Great work you guys do to further people’s love of motorcycles. Keep up the good work!
Just recently subbed and love your videos. I just looked you guys up to see where you are. I'm a trucker and I'm in PA right now. Turns out I'm 24 minutes away and I can't come see your spot, aarrgghhh! What are the chances? Great content boys! Outta straight envy I will say what glorious beards you have😕🤣😂
That slow motion high five...haha
Caleb is such a hype man.
I never heard of Honda dn-01 until now. And i think its one of the coolest looking bikes !
Don't like the DN01's look, but have tested it, when it was new. The special thing about it is the transmission. It has an hydraulic automatic, which does fantasticly smooth shifting, much better than the double-clutch-transm. of the NC models coming after this. This hydraulic transm. should have been in comfy bikes like GoldWing, PacificCoast, Silverwing...
My friend at the dealership said they're nick named Do Not Order One (DN-01) Still go for high dollars used. Might be fun.
This is informative AND entertaining. Good job.

that cruse control is for fuel millage. i had the 1984 voyager 1300 6 cylinder. believe it or not a few car parts interchanged with the 1300 version. i loved that bike
i'd go all the way around the globe to you guys just to score a bike like you do. i can't wrap my head around how cheap bikes are there. you lucky sons!
I had a V-Star 1100 and that's exactly what happened to mine. In the end, the starter didn't engage at all and just spun. "Yea, lets put the starter clutch inside the engine case with no slip at all." Great design.
Don't they have kickstarters? If so, just use that instead?

I bought a VG1200 new in 1987. It saved me in a wreck when hit from behind. The saddle bag tops were 1200 bucks. The radio was $2400. It was a really nice ride. I could hear the radio at 80MPH.
I'm so jealous. I just want a decent bike to ride. It ain't even gotta be new. Lol
Certainly making me wish I could afford another bike, that is for sure. Lot's of cool stuff there.

love the auction videos!
I’ve never been much of a motorcycle person because I’ve lost a lot of family on them due to stupid drivers mostly but I found your channel and love the content and have started looking for something just to take on some fun rides or take out on the weekends.
I have own two of the Voyager XII, sold each one after 120K , never leaked a drop, fix it with hardware store stuff. Never had to clean the carbs. the rear speakers sat on the chrome rack on the trunk, the light switch would get loose and the trunk light stays on. There are a few of us out here that can tell you what you want to know about them.
The trick is never let them sit which you wisely did not. Once any carbed bike sits long enough it's an automatic "strip and dip" (undiluted Pine-Sol is terrific).
i have now 2001 25000 miles having problems with the shift forks 1 then 4th and 5th pls help me luv my bike og
I love that you guys love motorcycles, and not just a towards a specific brand name.
Haven't been on SRK or bikes & beards channel in a while. But dayum, Caleb looks super lean, like he got into some rigurous diet and hardcore excercise routines.
Good for him.
FINALLY!!! a legit sponsor HAHAHAHA
Looks like a comfortable commuter bike. For those lucky riders who have several bikes in their stable.
I have a 86 voyager 1200 with 10,700 miles on it. The faring was broke on the left hand side. Pulled all that stuff off and its now a basic custom bike. I bought some nice aftermarket lights for it, all led. Its a great bike and there isnt another in my town that I know of.
You do the coolest stuff man, I love that you trade bikes just for a service 🤘awesome 🤘
These bike auctions look so fun compared to the car ones I've been at
What a beauty, don't trade that for just anything. 😂🔥
You see a beat-up old wing, I see a blank canvas with lots of potentials. I'd love to have one like that to go with my Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe. It would give the Yamaha a break from doing all the miles I do going on trips with it during the summer. I would put about 3 to 4 grand tops in her starting with a paint job, new stereo and speakers, maybe some LED lighting, and I could DIY fix the cruise control and other small issues. And since I have a good running, excellent condition touring cruiser already, I could take my time and gradually fix it up to what I'd want. Then enjoy the heck out of it riding all up and down the eastern seaboard and Appalachian mountain range.
5:25 my buddy has one of those. The full carbon buell lightning. Awesome bike. I got my harleys but I’d like one to add to the collection.
I don't know about yall, but my favorite videos are when they walk around the auction and end up buying 40 bikes and have to figure out how to fit them all in the trailer to drag them back to the shop.

Like you scored a cop bike for 700 looks pretty quick and quite
This video makes me so sad because I just missed out in a $300 Kawasaki concours that just needed carbs cleaned
Nice new bike man! Especially for $700!
Those mounting holes on the trunk lid are for rear speakers.
You got SO LUCKY to not have to clean those carbs!!
The car radio install was classic!! LOL!!!
Cruise control may need the speed input to work...Just sayin'....
And yes, it is an inline-4...Unfortunately it's not a Voyager 1300 which had the inline 6 engine!! Those sound awesome! Especially when straight-piped :-)
That V-Star 1100 with the starter clutch problem - You want to see a starter clutch problem, buy a 1981-1983 Yamaha XV920 Virago. Those starters sound like a box of rocks - on a GOOD day. The repair is just as challenging, and never lasts for long. 920 Viragos are best used as art pieces or boat anchors
I had that same bike when I lived in Las Vegas, had the computer dash, had to carry a towel around all the time so the dash didn't go blank on me. I flipped it and made more profit on it than I bought it for.
Those old Voyagers were nice bikes! Was looking at buying one back in 91.
Wish I had.

I just bought one of these for $500. The bracket on the back is for your rear speakers 🤣 and the battery light works off a sensor that goes inside the battery and is 100% probably just missing entirely off this bike.
I had a 1986 model, batteries at the time were not sealed and this indicator was connected to a sensor that triggered when the electrolyte level was low. There's an easy fix to bypass this sensor when switching to a sealed battery.
If you fix the speedo the cruise control would probably work it functions off from what the speedo is reading
Hey great video I was wondering how you find motorcycle auctions
"noooooo i got ripped off" hahaha the 2 times you said that cracked me up!!
I've had 2 of these bikes and ridden them across the country. Great bikes. The missing things on the top of the trunk, were speakers. Cruise doesn't work because your speedometer isn't working, and the battery light being on is probably because someone didn't put the battery acid level sensor in when they replaced the sensor. These are inline 4 1200cc engines with hydraulic adjusted valves. Never needs valve adjustments. There were great bikes, its a shame that Kawasaki didn't update them with fuel injection and such and keep producing them.
Rob
My dad works on old imports like this and he says they are so easy to fix most issues.

My deceased great uncle had one of these, with a small trailer and a sidecar. Him and my aunt would drive up to visit his sister (my grandma) all the way from Arizona. I have a pop up camper that's in rough shape. The top won't crank down, so it's been up for the last two years. A tree branch fell and ripped a hole in one of the canvas pull-outs. I'll trade you that, and a 12 pack of Faygo (flavor your choice) as well as a pan seared swordfish steak dinner, you pick the sides. Only catch is you pickup and deliver, Detroit area.
