    If I have a 165hz monitor,, will I still be able to get 240 frames per second? Or do I need 240hz monitor to get 240 frames

    • @TotallydubbedHD
      @TotallydubbedHD  Год назад +2

      two different things: fps = the number of frames your GPU can output. Hz = the number of frames your monitor can display. Yes, your 165hz monitor can display over 165fps, however, you might encounter tearing (visual differences) over said refresh rate as the monitor can't keep up with the amount of frames your GPU is producing. Hope that makes sense?

    • @Benfuze
      @Benfuze Год назад

      @@TotallydubbedHD thanks for the explanation - so how do I avoid visual tearing? For context it’s for online shooters like call of duty and I’ll have my settings on low for max FPS output

    • @TotallydubbedHD
      @TotallydubbedHD  Год назад +3

      @@Benfuze well if you want max FPS output such as playing games like COD etc, then you'll effectively just want to ensure you've got the highest refresh rate monitor in order to prevent any tearing from occurring. The only counter to that is to use technologies like G-SYnc or FreeSync which you should be able to use. However, by doing that it will CAP your frames to your monitor's refresh rate. Does that make sense?
      So you're using 165hz monitor, with say VRR tech (Adaptive sync technologies: G-Sync or FreeSync), you can then cap your GPU's output to 165fps. These techs are great far better than using VSync (NEVER use that please as it adds a heap of input lag, be it in your GPU settings or game settings!).
      Now you'll ask, why don't I just run Adaptive Sync tech at all times then? Because you're capping your frames, so if you're a twitch-based FPS gamer, you'll be limited in fps for the bettered visual experience (and there is a tiny bit of input lag that's also added, but it's not noticeable by most gamers).
      So to summarise: if you're playing casual games, I'd suggest using Adaptive Sync tech, if you're not I'd put up with a 'worse' visual experience by having screen tearing and having the max amount of FPS available.
