  • Shirley's Snowfield is a daunting hanging snowfield off the east face of Cody Peak in the Jackson Hole sidecountry. It's an impressive, aesthetic line that only a few people have ever tried to ski. In this video we talk about who pioneered the line and how it got its name. Footage of Teton Brown skiing the line follows, including his decision-making to help him reach the bottom safely.

    Dude, so epic!!! Hearing your actual reaction as you stop above the exposure shows a sliver of a chance that you might actually be human.

      Did you think this was all I did in life? Also, I'm a professional. I mitigate risk using plenty of knowledge, experience and developed skill acquired over decades to navigate terrain like this safely. I'm not just "tempting death"

    • @edwardmacnab354
      @edwardmacnab354 6 месяцев назад

      @@teton_brown nevertheless , although you do make it look easy , you and I both know that there are plenty of examples of what could go wrong , I'd rather "mitigate risk" in the terrain of financial markets and tempt financial "setbacks" that don't imply physical damage . But hey , that was pretty adrenaline rushing to witness !

    This looks like something that Paul Bonhomme (look him up…) would consider “too snowy” 😉
    PS: Why are there so many guys carrying their skis rather than skinning up? 🤔

    • @teton_brown
      @teton_brown  6 месяцев назад +1

      I had to look him up... incredible pilot! This is outside of the resort boundary at Jackson Hole. People often don't bring their skins to the resort and just bootpack up because it's easier/less weight. Some people bring their skins though. It depends on your preferred method and where exactly you're going

    • @teton_brown
      @teton_brown  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. I have a lot of experience analyzing risk in these situations. I would have liked to ski it through without stopping, but it was necessary to stop and re-analyze the situation in order to make it down safely. I wouldn't have skied it if I wasn't sure I could make it down safely
