I think we oily/combo ppl should just use a cream or serum that has both sulfur and salicylic acid in it. There’s a lot of those in drugstores, labeled as a “spot treatment” for acne or cystic acne.
I have oily skin and have been using Trader Joe’s facial oil and a gentle foaming cleanser for sensitive skin every evening and it has really improved my skin.
So Sulfur for the those little heads that aren’t blackheads 👍 no wonder it’s taking me YEARS and forevermore to get rid of them. They aren’t blackheads to begin with. Thank you so much Dr Idriss I’m off shopping lol
I’m no expert but through experiences as an oily gal, only cleansing oil that claims deep pore cleansing and will emulsify with water is what i use like 2-3 times a week for pore and oil clearing. It’s better than drying clay masks for me. I just make sure to soothe my skin with gentle products and ingredients, and moisturize afterwards. Oil production doesn’t seem to ever end because it’s more of an internal problem relative to genetics and diet.
@@meyssounebakkouche7883 Here’s a list of those I’ve tried. Some you can find in sample/travel size to try out first: Kose softy mo deep cleansing oil, Hadalabo gokujun cleansing oil, Annua heartleaf pore control cleansing oil, Dear Klairs gentle black deep cleansing oil, hanskin pha pore cleansing oil. I use it everyday for tougher sunscreen removal along with a 2nd foaming gentle cleanser like Cerave so as to not have any oil residue. It shouldn’t be oily feeling anyways because they emulsify on contact with water to rinse off. My blackhead and sebacious filament cleansing is only like once a week and that is the one that I would message my skin where the most oily clogging parts are for about 1-5 mins max. Don’t overdo it! It will be more damaging if you do it a lot and too much. Always follow with a 2nd gentle wash and then of course your treatments and or moisturizers (plus sunscreen during daytime). Hope it helps!
I've been using sulfur for years. It's the one thing that has consistently helped control my adult hormonal acne. I still get my breakouts once a month, but nowhere near as bad as I used to. The downside is that it's extremely drying for my skin, and it smells not great.
I had acne for years and this is what my dermatologist told me. Now I have a prescribed sulfur face wash I use 2x a day bc my face is very oily. I also use a salicylic acid toner after that and then a vitamin c serum and ofc retin a. I had a ton of scarring from my acne and the SA/vitamin c/retin a made such a difference the scars are so light now you can barely see them. It is so validating when ppl tell me I have nice skin like girl you don't even know how long it took me to get here 😭
I’ll only do oil cleansers if it’s literally a cleanser that’s been formulated to actually cleanse. An oil can sneeze from across the room and clog my pores ugh
I like a cleansing balm to double cleanse. I have oily skin BUT, I use a gently foaming cleanser in the summer and a cream/foaming type cleanser in the winter. A pure oil to "cleanse" is a no. My skin can't take it
Genetics, diet, and skincare. Eveyone is different, everyone. I've been moisturizing my skin eveyday for 20 years and using Rentin A micro for the last 4 years and retinol prior to that for years. And it works it helps alot. Also sleep wrinkles are a thing 100% if your a side sleeper and mushing your face every night those lines you are creating in your sleep will become prominante and stay. Its not talked about enough and it's an actual thing, try your best to sleep on your back. Like this dermatologist I'm almost 40, I use the bare minimal for skincare products you do not need a 10 step skincare routine whatsoever, do not allow "Influencers" to make you think otherwise.
I double cleanse, which is really common Korea. Oil cleansing to remove makeup, sunscreen and other stuff followed by a light weight watery cleanser. I have very dry skin.
With oil cleansing (the right Japanese oil cleanser that has emulsifiers) you are treating/controlling the issue every day. it's not meant to me a one-time solution but as a continuous rutin. My sebaceous filaments got reduced by 70-80% with daily oil cleansing.
Same here! I switched from using makeup wipes and micellar water to using banila co clean it zero oil cleanser and it saved my skin. The lady who made this video is tripping. 😂
Sulfer is a amazing thing for oily skin... i use a green sulfer spot mask by Sunday Riley like once a week for like 30+ min ... i only use a very thin layer that doesn't look green on my skin it helps a lot
Per your guidance I started using PanOxyl cleanser (just the lower concentration 4% kind) and my acne has all but disappeared. I have always been super good with chemical exfoliation but I don’t think the AHA/BHA cleansers/niacinamide was treating the bacteria and excess oil production. It's kind of silly to complain that "oil cleansing" is bad just because some oils are comedonegenic. Like companies obviously aren't putting those comedonegenic oils in their oil cleansers. Oil cleansing is great for clearing up blackheads and getting rid of the excessive oils, dirt, and makeup that cause breakouts, and it doesn't strip or dry the skin as badly as other cleansers might. Switching from makeup wipes / micellar water to oil cleansers saved my skin.
It's more silly to complain that " oil cleaning isn't comedogenic " Cause no ! You aren't a dermat and there is actually only few cleaning oils that doesn't clog your pores + those are way expensive that other cleansing oils . You might be blessed with a skin that doesn't gets clogged by " MANY cleaning oil " .
And idk where did you get this study from but last time I was doing a research on non comedonal cleaning oils . Only few oils were non comedonal. Otherwise most were comedogenic . Sulfur is the main ingredient in estrogen and vitamin D. For those of us born with an estrogen overload, sulfur and it’s components really does no good for us. Too much of one ingredient is never a good thing, no matter what it creates!
