It is pretty poor labelling that the lane assist options in Gameplay refer to always-on lane departure avoidance features, and the lane assist option in Controls refers to an entirely separate toggle-able lane keeping assist.
Awesome, thank you for the tutorial! Knew I had to be missing something since I've seen it work so well for others, but the lane keeping support option was way too aggressive. Now I can relax a lot more as I... or rather the truck drives, thank you! :D
Very instructive video! I did not even know that this was a new feature introduced with v1.50!! Happy trucking and, although on the wrong side of the road, drive safe! (Kidding, eh!? Just kidding! I am italian, unfortunately (!!), and love to drive on the left side in ETS2 when I travel to England - which I do whenever possible! this is what i've been waiting for years! in ets2 the autopilot, i mean literally now i can eat in peace while my truck drives alone, and more in truckersmp which is what i play the most because i like the multiplayer.
It is not an autopilot because it does not keep you the track of the route, in fact it does not steer in the curves when there are deviations of the route so it is only a lane assistant
@@pintuchannel71 the definitions are all a little fuzzy, but if we use the Tesla definitions - Autopilot is single-lane following and ACC, which is what this is. Ability to change lane is Enhanced AP, and ability to follow a route is Full Self Driving.

Not quite. You still have to monitor speed and sharp turns, and once you go under 55kmh at toll booths or cities you have to take over manually.
