    This video may have just convinced me to buy a Lindstrom set of tools. Of course in your skilled hands they work so beautifully but the needle nose were just beautiful in there “ needlelyness”. Great video. Really appreciate that you are always in frame. Thanks.

    I too have watched every video and I find you so easy to follow, you are a really gifted teacher! I was wondering if you had a formula to determine the size of wire to cut to wrap the Cabochon with? Also, how do you determine how high to wrap the bail? If there was a determining factor it may be easy for me to mark with a felt tip marker where to stop. I never get it quite right. Lastly I seem to find my wires inside the wires I’m wrapping around for the bail seem to shift before I realize it. Your 24 gauge half round seems thicker then mine. I may be hallucinating , I got mine off Amazon and I know you get from Rio Grande which I have an account with, if there really is a difference. I’m trying and I have made some lovely things and I am loving my new hobby☺️

      Thank you! I try to overestimate the wires when cutting them just so I don't run out, but if I wanted to work with a precious metal such as silver, I'd make in copper first and take note of how much excess I have and subtract that out so I cut only what is needed in the silver. I like to do about 3/4 of an inch of the weaving for the bail, it usually ends up being a fairly small bail though, but that's what I prefer. If you find that twisting of the bail wires, press down with pliers often as you wrap, don't wait until the end to press down, it will help the bail wires not twist.

      @@OxanaCrafts Thanks for answering that. Bail size is quite helpful. I was thinking there was a measuring table that you came up with. I am noticing a Cabochon that is an inch long you usually do around 11” if I remember correctly. I have some uneven polished stones and was trying to get an idea of length. I realized that most of your tutorials use 22 gauge half round and I was using 24 for weaving wire, so changing that will make a difference I’m sure. I’m having such a blast making jewelry and you are my go to teacher. I feel empowered every time I complete one. I sold quite a bit at Christmas at a cheap price because I’m a beginner, but everyone loved them and I am opening up an Etsy store to at least have a place where people can view it. I can’t stop making them😍. I will be 69 tomorrow!

    Thank you. Greatly appreciate the tips you add. How much space do you leave above the stone? When I made the crisscross a couple weeks ago, I had to improvise as not enough room to tuck the wires.

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  5 месяцев назад

      It is up to you how much space to leave up there, you need it big enough for the wires to go through at least, but you can also make it extra big for a different sort of look.
