This piece of music is so beautiful and so sad at the same time. I watch a lot of Chinese historical series and I have learned that being the Empress was one of the hardest things to be. Not one day of her life was her own, she had to maintain the image of being the most moral, kind, forgiving and tolerant person within the Empire even when a lot of hurtful things were going on right in front of her. She was always expected to smile and act gracefully even when her heart was breaking. She was a beautiful caged bird, and when I see her dance I feel it's the only time she truly feels free again. Her maids are reminding her of her role and the responsibility she has to the Emperor, Empire and it's people. This song and the dance should be dedicated to all of the Empresses before her, truly remarkable women.
