What I do in heavy traffic and an emergency vehicle approaches, I pull up on the sidewalk real quick. It is very appreciated by amulances, cops etc. They always gives me thumbs up cause I´m the only one that moves... :)
@seserbcp Perhaps that is because lights and sirens are used excessively. In the UK a blue light is only used in an emergency, and the siren is only used when needed.
It never ceases to amaze me how oblivious some drivers are. Yes, cars are more "soundproof" than they once were, and stereos are louder -- but so are sirens, and the array of blue lights is far more noticeable than the single revolving beacon of days gone by, and still some drivers seem completely unaware of an approaching emergency vehicle.
That was perfect driving man. If that were me driving, I would be so confused where to go, because that looks like London if I'm correct, such a big city and confusing streets. :)
Never seen so many Drivers "Failing to Yield", there either arrogant, not aware of their situation, or got the blinkers on (possibly all 3) And dong get me started on the OBLIVIOUS Pedestrians ... Grrrrrrrr.... Good Piece of driving , getting there in a Safe Proficient way.. well done
the professionals Magnum Hawaii 50. All old has been action programs. At least twice he kept the noise going at a red light forcing vehicles to go through against the lights. Protocol is to kill noise but keep lights on and not force people to break the law
I'm amazed. People in the UK is by far more willingly to yield to an emergency vehicle, if you take this an example. I've been in a volunteer fire department in Denmark now for about 6 months, and it's so annoying to be blocked by some youth which has decided to use a pair of plug-in headphones while driving.
I think its a medical transport vehicle (blood or organ rapid transport), or a fire chief's car with blue light grills and dash light. Its definitely not MET or City of London.
ok so silly question but whats the deal with the light set up near the camra? is it different flash patterns or somethin coz i notice them changin all the time
That's a fantastic video, great quality too. Couple of questions; What vehicle is this, and what service does it operate under, and will there be any more videos?
I would not make a very good blue light driver. Feeling tense just watching the clip. Good to see that the majority of people move out of the way reasonably quickly
Do you need to be so aggressive to make progress in London? In particular, when you come up to traffic waiting at a red light, you're right up to them on the yelp, whereas I'd tend to hang back and turn off the noise to let people sort themselves out without feeling under too much pressure. But hey, I find driving in town aggravating on routine :-)
That's legal in Sweden. Once when I visited my local fire station there was a army fellow there becuse the watch that worked that they had rammed a army pick-up the week before.
Starting think Europe should adopt the Fire Vehicle laws of the US, where they can legally ram a vehicle if it's refusing/unable to move for them after a period of time.
here that kind of driving would be more than normal, and drivers are actually supposed to go through the red light into the intersection, or in the lane right/left, or onto the sidewalk if the emergency vehicles doesn't get through...
Well, here in Spain We can cross the line JUST to get to the side of the road, you CANNOT get pat but you can just cross it halfway to gt your car to the side, that's what i meant.
I'm not a rapid response driver, but we were being very pushy in queues and red lights weren't we? You could have at least cancelled your sirens when other vehicles had nowhere to go! :/
Actually, "999instructor", you do have people like me driving response cars. Response driving (as I was taught, anyway) is all about balacing safety with progression. If I wrap the vehicle on my way to the job, then somebody else has to run to it. If I take another 30s to get there, so be it. I asked a specific question about one element of this guy's technique (good example at 6:50 onward - he forces the waiting traffic into the junction) - have you got anything to add?
The only time it's legal to go through a red light is in an emergency (to get out of danger) or if a uniformed police officer directs you through. Other than those two times, you're breaking the law regardless of whether there's an emergency vehicle behind you or not. It's good to see that somebody else knows the craic. I get such dirty looks when I don't move for the police car even though I'd be putting myself & others in danger whilst breaking the law.
I think it's a police car, I used to drive one in London exactly like that. Yes if you think it's wreckless but we were highly trained and experienced. And had to undergo strict medical s every year. The met takes it very seriously
It is illegal to go through red lights whatever the case, even if there is an emergency vehicle behind you. It is acceptable to move (to the best of your ability) to clear a path, but emergency vehicles should cancel their sirens to prevent people putting themselves in danger.
Yes there will be more uploaded, sorry i am restricted to give any info on vehicle & service. Subscribe and you will be notified when new videos are uploaded.
You may pass through a red light and treat it as a give way if you are the one responding. There is no relaxation of the law for someone who moves through a red light to let you through, in fact not letting you through anywhere is not an offense. I don't know of anyone who has been prosecuted personally but I have heard stories. Certainly a red light camera would trigger a prosecution but you may well be successful in front of the magistrate to use the emergency vehicle as a defense. If you are a responding vehicle our guidelines would be to turn off the audible warning devices and leave the lights on so you don't panic people and push them through into a potentially dangerous situation. Basically what a lot of people have said already!
Ian Leigh Yes. At 7 mins in the drivers go through the reds to allow the emergency vehicle passage. 3 points and £100 fine. There should be an exemption for this. Otherwise no one will move for the emergency services. Good drive all the same and hopefully no tickets issues to the helpful drivers.
We're not talking Spain are we, we're talking London, and you stated someone talking UK road traffic act as wrong, not how it is in Spain. Ergo KGzll RIGHT, TGXtrucker WRONG.
@999instructor How many of the jobs you turn out to are *actually* sensitive to 30s, when you get there? For me, it's about one in 10, perhaps fewer. As you know, the other drivers don't have an exemption for passing the ATS on red, and courts are making examples of the drivers of services vehicles who are in any way culpable. This is what I'm trying to understand: I don't work in London often, and on my patch, this approach to lights is too aggressive. Is it normal for London?
Roundabout part was fine & she probably jumped the lights because she wanted to get out of the way of the car, same as to why she tried to go around that car in front of her. A lot of people panic when they see lights & sirens so they do anything in a rush to get out of the way, which sometimes puts them in a worse position, such as here. I blame lack of education more than individuals. I have never once been taught how to react to an emergency vehicle, not even on my driving lessons. Have you?
I'd be going ' cross the road bitch...make my day!!' Hahaha! I live in a rural area, just come to these videos for an excitement kick! Wouldn't like to have a heart attack in London though, although I do believe they have bikers as 'first responders' now. Makes it a bit safer. Not good if your posh London apartment was ablaze though!
@lanegane1 Nothing wrong with him. He couldn't move in because of the car in front so instead he gave up and pulled forward until he could move aside - exactly what's required!
sir lost a lot actually no, in certain situations you can go through a red to get out the way .. for example if all ahead is clear - you can clear traffic for the emergency vehicle as well it's definitely situational.
I'm a cop... You go through an automatic red light camera and you'll get a ticket... It is no defence. As a blue light driver you switch off the audible warning equipment so you don't pressure drivers into doing it, then carry on when the way is clear... I'm not arguing, just educating
Stranger ..no just watching videos and listening to other Police Officer but hey you might be right lol I'm not saying you won't get pull over but I'm saying I've seen people not get pulled over..
@naojason we have more balls than u think, but we can do nothing because drivers in US don't respond like London drivers, they do nothing when they see lights and hear sirens.
Saintly Patience must be a job requirement for London police... with that level of traffic, I would have ground my teeth flat! One thing that would have been nice to see would be for the bus drivers approaching the same intersection as the car on a blue light run, to hold back and give way to the police car.
Ok 1st off this IS NOT the met police, I won't say what it is, that would remove the fun. Keep guessing. As for the keybord heros, shure go on and post your moans. But they are nothing unless you say EXACTLY what the problem is. I'm currently editing another video that's even better than this. Subscribe now and don't miss it ;)
it take much concentration to drive like this, busy city and night time. Driver should not have had his cd player on for first 3 mins. he should concentrate all the time.
Thought these days that all emergency vehicle drivers, are taught to turn off the two tones at red lights and wait, rather than harass motorists to go through red lights in case it panics them, especialy that camera outside euston fire station (i think thats where it was), sad thing is, there is no law expressly giving emergency vehicles a divine right of way,no law to force people out of the way. But i believe there is a law regarding the obstruction of an emergency vehicle. But the video was superb and superb driving also..
Only if other motorists give way, they cannot force people through. There is no law that says they can go through red lights,as there is no law which forces motorists to let them pass, they must treat red traffic lights as give way.if no one gives way then they cant do much, which in my eyes is so wrong,.
It depends on the type of unit, the type of emergency etc. For example, if I was an armed response vehicle responding to a potential terror threat then I'd blast the bullhorn and not give a toss whether they have brown trousers or not, however if I'm an ERT officer responding to a domestic with Mrs Miggings, I'd ease off the tones. Also depends on your driver level, Level 2+ drivers are more equipped to deal with the danger of a motorist panicking, whereas a Level 3 driver is only taught how to do it safely, not necessarily effectively. Hope that answers your question.
Never worked for any emergency service have you? trying telling the 1000's of people we've saved by moving effectively to scene. 8 mins is all you've got to try and help someone in cardiac arrest, and even if they aren't calls taken are never accurate so we get there asap anyway incase it is serious.
But if nt going through if instructed ould result into a death or multiple deaths thats why they would instruct you . They wouldnt do it for the fun of it.
Let's just take a moment to wallow in these quality 999 sirens, far better than the new ones these days.
It's amazing how many pedestrians still cross the road despite an emergency vehicle coming towards them with lights and sirens blazing.
What I do in heavy traffic and an emergency vehicle approaches, I pull up on the sidewalk real quick. It is very appreciated by amulances, cops etc. They always gives me thumbs up cause I´m the only one that moves... :)
nice selection of songs good work
those are some nice sirens
@seserbcp Perhaps that is because lights and sirens are used excessively. In the UK a blue light is only used in an emergency, and the siren is only used when needed.

The sign of a good driver he makes this stressful and demanding driving look so smooth.
I'm a "blue-light" driver....and I have to say, those damn traffic islands don't half cause bloody problems!!
strewth! And I think I've got it hard on our rural, winding, hilly roads in Derbyshire! Nice driving!
good job it wasnt busy or we'd be here all night
That was perfect driving man. If that were me driving, I would be so confused where to go, because that looks like London if I'm correct, such a big city and confusing streets. :)
Never seen so many Drivers "Failing to Yield", there either arrogant, not aware of their situation, or got the blinkers on (possibly all 3)

Good Piece of driving , getting there in a Safe Proficient way.. well done
I hope the music was added in post production... :P
Excellent bit of driving!
Music ruined it....
+Jack Vanags agree 100% would have got a thumbs up if no music
the professionals Magnum Hawaii 50. All old has been action programs. At least twice he kept the noise going at a red light forcing vehicles to go through against the lights. Protocol is to kill noise but keep lights on and not force people to break the law
why does this video not play in 480p quality, it used to? and now it just freezes
I'm amazed. People in the UK is by far more willingly to yield to an emergency vehicle, if you take this an example.

ok so silly question but whats the deal with the light set up near the camra? is it different flash patterns or somethin coz i notice them changin all the time
@TheBluelights2009
yup it really nice driving like an police ...is you the officer?
Its BTP and the light isnt sticking its just not catching all the flashes with the camera resolution.
Good and safe driving from the driver :)
It is the flash pattern changing.
The 9 dislikes is from people who is jealous that they don't have blue ligths and sirens in their car
That's a fantastic video, great quality too. Couple of questions; What vehicle is this, and what service does it operate under, and will there be any more videos?
I myself have drove on blue lights a few times and tbh, this is perf driving.
great video and driving
I would not make a very good blue light driver. Feeling tense just watching the clip. Good to see that the majority of people move out of the way reasonably quickly
Hillarious left turn sign on the street at 06:24, lol.
Do you need to be so aggressive to make progress in London? Let me guess.. British Transport Police? :)
Again, nice driving.
Hey Peter how it going still in the same line of work dosent seem like 2009 since you loaded the Video (HIDDEN ) ?
That's legal in Sweden. Once when I visited my local fire station there was a army fellow there becuse the watch that worked that they had rammed a army pick-up the week before.

Not in the UK, you're not supposed to go across the stop line, otherwise you could get a ticket, madness in reality as I usually go through!
wait was his/her headlights off at the begining?
....glad I'm not in a city....the traffic didn't seem any worse than a town....but there was an awful lot of pedestrians crossing the road at points
I don't know if we are colleagues or not, but can you tell me the names of all the songs
Well, here in Spain We can cross the line JUST to get to the side of the road, you CANNOT get pat but you can just cross it halfway to gt your car to the side, that's what i meant.

Not really sure why but throughout this video i could taste kababs?????? any answers?

Why did you put the music on the video? I'd have preferred to watch it minus the music. Still a good video though.
Are you in an Ambulance RRV?
Whats the car please?
which car is it?
I believe European code negates that local rule.
You MUST give way to emergency vehicles, any unlawful act to do so would be under emergency rights.
BTP surely?
The only time it's legal to go through a red light is in an emergency (to get out of danger) or if a uniformed police officer directs you through. Bloodtransport or organtransport?
id guess its a blood run car or some ambulance related vehicle.

BTP?
great drive other than the wig wags being on at night.
is it anything to do with the CIA or MI5 ?
A emergency vehicle can give you instructions to go though the red light IF NEEDED only
That reg plate at 3:26!
+1 and indeed.
@999instructor How many of the jobs you turn out to are *actually* sensitive to 30s, when you get there? For me, it's about one in 10, perhaps fewer.

London cops must have saintly patience. American cops would be loosing their minds in that traffic!
that is pretty intense driving pretty glad i am not in the MET!
ambulance i think
Roundabout part was fine & she probably jumped the lights because she wanted to get out of the way of the car, same as to why she tried to go around that car in front of her. Nice vid and excellent driving. One point though....loose the music it makes it a bit naff !
I'd be going ' cross the road bitch...make my day!!' Hahaha! I live in a rural area, just come to these videos for an excitement kick! I like the yelp & wail siren but I hate the third one (the space invader), it's bloody awful. Bring back the good old two-tones!
sir lost a lot actually no, in certain situations you can go through a red to get out the way .. for example if all ahead is clear - you can clear traffic for the emergency vehicle as well it's definitely situational.
There are no situations where it is permitted and the emergency vehicle driver should not try and cause it to happen.
Stranger If you do it you're not going to get pulled over lol.. you can keep arguing but go and do it and you'll find out
I'm a cop... You go through an automatic red light camera and you'll get a ticket... It is no defence. As a blue light driver you switch off the audible warning equipment so you don't pressure drivers into doing it, then carry on when the way is clear... I'm not arguing, just educating
That's based on actually being a blue light driver.... Not playing at being a policeman on GTA and thinking you know everything, but it's cute
Stranger ..no just watching videos and listening to other Police Officer but hey you might be right lol I'm not saying you won't get pull over but I'm saying I've seen people not get pulled over..
@john43144 as am I, please keep them coming!
nice vid ^^
@PoliceMadBen You said it.
@godzillasdad it's not that
it's because they dont give a .... when they see and hear us
even emergency vehicles get suck in london rush hour
it's from a movie
@naojason we have more balls than u think, but we can do nothing because drivers in US don't respond like London drivers, they do nothing when they see lights and hear sirens.
UK has very different ideas of visibility from the U.S. when it comes to police vehicles.
@ImRatherTall Not as bad as that.... we have a Family friend that works with the Secret Service... Its not like its Area 51 I am talkin about here.
BTP ?. ;-)
I someone who got three points cuz he moved a metre over a red light to get out the way.
@HornySweetGirl You can use Bus Lanes after 7pm in London.
Saintly Patience must be a job requirement for London police... with that level of traffic, I would have ground my teeth flat! One thing that would have been nice to see would be for the bus drivers approaching the same intersection as the car on a blue light run, to hold back and give way to the police car.
Oh do bother to explain, please. You see, I'm a Swede, from Sweden.
The Sweeney ruled!
Ok 1st off this IS NOT the met police, I won't say what it is, that would remove the fun.

Westminster to Kings Cross station I suspect it is a BTP vehicle.
it take much concentration to drive like this, busy city and night time. Driver should not have had his cd player on for first 3 mins. he should concentrate all the time.

Nothing panics london driver's , they dont give a fxxx
+mortgagewizard40 Yes it was Euston. I agree the driver could have cut the noise there for a bit.
thats what they are taught to do, unfortunately,,

anyone else notice santa at 2:52 lol
@jasonolsen99 Jason you bugger, what're you doing watching this?

I hope the driver of GD03 AZN was severely fined for that disgraceful excuse for driving.
ARV!!!!!!!!!!!
Hate the music in this! Please take it out
@KGzII one word. WRONG.
But if nt going through if instructed ould result into a death or multiple deaths thats why they would instruct you . They wouldnt do it for the fun of it.
