Watched this video many times has to be the best one l have seen so far.The camera action from following truck is ace the leading truck goes round some of those corners on two wheels.Great to watch a shout and this delivers in bucket fulls.
The lad driving has good skills, convoy on blues is never easy when you're behind the lead vehicle , excellent use of tones making sure they were different from the lead vehicle. The white rigid didn't do them any favours near the end, bloody professional drivers ! Good demonstration of how NOT to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle.
These guys and girls are modern day super hero's, my Mam worked for Tyne and Wear fire brigade for 20 years, the amount of abuse that the Brigade get now on the streets is ridiculous, as if they haven't got a delicate work load to deal with already its has become all the more risky when on a shout from members of the public abusing them. The lads really don't need to be dragging body armour around on top of a already cumbersome kit. Respect to all of you 🤝🏻
Oh wow. They passed my old street. Riverside road. Mother still lives there. But I've Not been there in 28 years. Moved to Perth Australia with my dad. But seeing this footage. Feels like only yesterday I was there
it just shows that its big red and high viz marked with flashing blue lights, headlights and multi tone sirens and yet still some people fail to notice it completely........ keep safe responding, drive aware, keep alive, get to the emergency in one pece
Nice progressive drive.... worked the brakes and gears hard - sod the mini roundabouts as they are a scourge of the earth.... didn't take risks - kept the crew happy and smiling..... EFAD = PASS..... best drive from a water fairy I have ever seen..... lots of love an anonymous AMBO..... ;-) (PS: I mean it - nice job fella..... gladly I don't have to drive fire lorries... 3.5t is big enough for me....)
I have never seen ill feeling between fire and police, banter yes. Police and fire work together so often they get to know each other very well. They play charity footy matches against each other here, and do school open days etc together. You will always get the odd occasion when a bit of frustration creeps in, but in my experience I wouldn't say it happens often. Just my humble opinion.
My god chucking a truck around like a car you could teach the police a thing or two on how to drive. Well done you firefighters are the bravest warriors we have protecting us except of course for the SAS
Watford, the town where I was born and lived for the first 18 years of my life, Since then I have lived and worked in 6 other countries. But I still recognise many of those streets. That siren a bit of an irritation though.

smashing video a blue light run by the book. I don't know if i would have been able to do it just as good. I'll stay with my RRV a chevrolet suburban rapid response vehicle
There used to be more fire stations when I grew up in Watford. I guess it’s cheaper to have just one now. More risk to life if they have to go so far to . On this shout there’s not too much traffic!
I think there’s just the one up by ASDA now . I’m not sure if there’s still a station in Bushey , I’d have thought it would have been easier to deploy from there to S Oxhey , maybe they were already out on a call
I live directly under a flight path for air ambulance taking urgent calls to hospitals 15km from my home, with covid19 it has been eerie quite like all the people have vanished.
Are they still in Watford? It seemed as if they had responded across all of England. That was a long ride. The problem with station centralization I expect. So many great European cities have only three or four massive fire stations quartering a dozen or more fire and rescue vehicles. Each station covers it's own section of the city, thus centralization. As opposed to the U.S. system of large cities and towns having fire departments made up of anywhere between two to twenty or more smaller stations spread out across the city forming a type of grid, where apparatus from different stations responds in conjunction with one another. Thus smaller response areas and shorter response times.
Land is relatively expensive and at a premium in UK towns/cities. It's not going to happen that fire stations multiply, the local councils would not want to fund it. Now, I can imagine fire stations being reduced in number even further if the local councils could get away with it.
they seem to be a very long way away from the fire location--------in a place like watford-u would think there would be a station nearer than this to respond-maybe not in 2002
I know fireman want the thrill of a fire as its why most take the job but are they happier to turn up at a place and there is nothing or nothing atleast left to worry about, or there is a good fire for them to take on and sort? Im guessing the younger more excited but less experienced are happier with the lata but the old experienced who have seen alot, are happier with the first outcome
I would have loved to have been a firefighter, I had always wanted to be one since I was a wee boy in Edinburgh, my dreams however were dashed when I discovered I hated heights, mind you though, I would have been able to have attended bungalow house fires lol
No need to not listen to music mate, mirror checks should be done every 7 seconds then you would see them without too much of a delay. That's how I was taught on my police driving course anyway for advanced :-)
Always loved driving 2nd pump, no stress sweatstains, let the guy on 1 force the route and surf along behind!...lol...seriously through any turnout driving is stressful
+Noodle999 just the other week some moron pulled out of a junction and collided with a pump tender on call, I suppose it is one of the few good things to collide with though.
Doh! I was in the back of a truck once that ran straight over the bonnet of a car. Van driver stopped at a junction to let us through, idiot in the car got mad at the van driver for stopping for "no reason", mounted the pavement, undertook the van (unsighted to the driver of the pump) and shot straight out... BANG.
seem to be very long way from fire?-i assume they where going to back up another station-even though it was a false call--u certainly need to know your way from a-z
I think you mean 'False Alarm Malicious' and 'False Alarm Good Intent'. Best FAM we ever had was a drunk on his way home from the pub. Sub Officer radioed the 'Stop' and asked if they knew where the call was made from (Pre mobile phones). We went to the phone box to find the miscreant collapsed in a drunken stupor... he was arrested by the police who'd turned out to the fire.
+Brandon Strafford And I'd love to see anyone handle any Scania like that the simple fact is that you can't and why drivers prefer a Dennis NOT a converted bin waggon.
Manoeuvrability aside, Scanias are not capable of driving that fast either. Firefighters who I know at my local station swear that in the “good old days”, their Dennis RS of 1990 vintage could do 95 mph. The Sabres that replaced the RSs topped out at 90 and now they have a Scania that is restricted to 56 mph. The only time a Scanny could do a ton is if it drove a cliff. Is that progress, I wonder!

Great driving on difficult roads, and great discipline by drivers of Watford and South Oxhey.
In south oxhey they nick your wheel hubs 😆

No wonder you have Driver's Training fire trucks in the UK. You need the best to race down those narrow streets dodging parked vehicle's and traffic.
Average_Joe87 EFAD is hard apparently, some drivers bolt it to incidents.

I think he lost half his water encounter!

Amazing driving by both drivers. It must be tough driving appliances at speed safely. A lot of ground to cover though

Do you drive hotpoints often?

I had a ride in the merc cfrs all the way
Best video around i think of 2 proper engines on a shout. The way they handle the turns at speed
Nice to see some of the old parts of Watford, and especially Vicarage Road, the home of the Hornets; about 2:15 into the video.

Fantastic. Thanks for putting that on well filmed and good to see a pair of dennis machines on the bell, take it their both sabres
Must be enjoyable to fly through traffic like that. Fun stuff.
Goodjob guys.
I wish My bus ride to work was like this
Drove right passed my house in Queens Avenue, don’t see them any more since they moved the fire station to the Lower High Street.
I have never seen ill feeling between fire and police, banter yes. Police and fire work together so often they get to know each other very well. I see police and paramedics working together more than with fire but they still do a lot

I loved RBFRS’s sabre always clean and was an absolute beast! Now they have been replaced by Mercedes atego’s and Volvo FL8’s
drove them. P570 ORD and P571 ORD one was caversham rd the other wokingham rd
God I miss the engine sound of those sabres
I was always fond of these machines, dennis sabre will out perform the scania rubbish any day
man i so want to do this as a job been trying to get in the wmfs i can still remember my yfa training god bless u all on ur watch great vid
Did you eventually get there ?
it must be so cool racing in a fire engine, looks like you guys had a fair distance to travel
woollett182 it is good to drive a fire engine but it can be hard work specially with all the idiots that use the roads these days
Excellent driving skills

Before covid19 I could frequently hear sirens but now very rarely, which in itself I find very uncomfortable.

at 3.40 did the first 1 drift it round the lights
Its weird watching a video knowing exactly what roads they're on
Thanks for a great video

Sometimes it's just a busy day, the crews that would normally respond to an address are already at a job. You have to go into other station areas.
Multiple stations are also vastly more expensive to maintain.
nice job, those engines clearly get a beating!!

Nope sorry i was a cadet with Cheshire fire and rescue service
I was Cornwall, they still have good old two tones though :P
Great driving
Somewhere up Prestwick Road, apparently.
I wish I could drive a big loud van
Get some high power subwoofer in your white Transit van.
Love it how everyone complies. Its why i dont have music on in my car when im driving. U got to think of the 8 minutes target

the shops you passed with the esso opposite looked like the ones in the on the buses film
Was this part of a training exercise?
I remember when I had an iPhone 4 with a cracked lense
The driver in front was certainly clearing the traffic !!
Stick the two tones on. Take it from someone who drives an old car, they are easier to hear!
Landie Man I love the two tones they are the best siren and like you said they are affective
thanks that would be fab
i am hong kong firefighter
look at the speed of those sabres :)
