OoPSiE wHoOpSiE ... I was born in 2001 and am currently a freshman/sophomore in college! I just finished my finals last week and decided to watch this show XD
He's almost a little over-animated tbh, but it's a good demonstration of animation, that he's not standing still. Love you undergrads, please come back to us soon
@@rubyy.7374 I'm glad you get my meaning because I was stoned AF when I wrote that and it still reads like something a stoned guy would write lol. I worry a lot about being comprehendable when I'm high. I'm sure this won't carry through to the final movie. It's easier to chalk it up to the fact Pete is blowing the dust off this series and probably hasn't drawn this much Nitz-Guy in a long time. Very excited to see this movie whenever it comes around. Pete if you're reading this, remember that sometimes less is more when it comes to these things. Though maybe you were just trying to show off what you could do, and I can totally understand that feeling
It's funny, I think if Undergrads had gotten a second season right now then it would become a commercial success. The generation two decades ago wasn't really into the type of humor Undergrads had, but now that my generation is older (20-30 year olds) I bet they would eat this show up like crazy. Maybe it's just my bias though since I have always loved this show since I was little kid, but I hope that we still get a second season somehow in the future.
This show is timeless. I first watched Undergrads while I was in high school while my brother was in grade school. We both went to college and realized how accurate this show was. I'm 35, he's 25 and this is still one of our favourite shows to watch over a game of Risk. It deserves more than a movie. 4 seasons minimum!
I doubt it ... The characters in Undergrads were hardly relatable as evidenced by the creator's own lack of his experiences in higher education. This show basically has nothing to offer against the recent young progressive intellectuals who went to college since nearly all of the tropes used back then would be outdated by today. Undergrads biggest flaw was in it's portrayal of only concentrating on campus life instead of covering the academic aspects so the show was totally disconnected among real students in higher education. The show basically has a cult following with some young adults who mostly didn't go into higher education since the only main appeal it had going for it was giving them a perverted perception of what having college life was like ... If it did get a second season only to make the same mistakes again by using obsolete tropes and making every character devoid of intellectual development then it won't age well like the first season did. The campus life they showed during the first season isn't even close to being accurate to current day so the show would need to undergo a concept change in order to appeal to demographics who are more academically oriented. Undergrads as it is devalues it's own college setting since the creator made no attempt in using it to enhance the show's concept which is wholly ironic since the title 'Undergrads' just makes the show itself misleading ...
@@herahbgad9061 who's going to watch an animated sitcom where students study? The focus groups knew it would be better to write about the antics of college life. The show's biggest issue it just wasn't funny. It wasn't funny 20 years ago and it's not funny now. It's lame out of touch Gen X humor. I'd wager it would be chockful of unfunny jokes, as evident by the force be with you quip at the end. At best, we might get references to safe spaces on campuses but even that's scraping bottom of the barrel for jokes.
@@swarthybullxxx Then why even have the college setting in the first place if they aren't going to make use of it ? I wasn't just talking about studying but sure that's a part of it ... There could've been a few interesting scenarios if they made actual use of the college setting like creating arcs/episodes such as Rocko at risk of dropping out of college, the boys needing a part-time job to pay their tuition/hobby bills, them thinking about their future/careers, "unpopular" vs "good" professors, assignments/class evaluations, partner/group projects, final exam crunching, meaningful competitions, internships/co-op and so much more etc ... There's loads of untapped potential with the college setting but instead Undergrads originally just focused on the dumbest parts behind college like alcoholism, sex, fraternities, parties or cliques. College is supposed to be about portrayal of "enlightenment" or a "coming of age" story and is not nearly supposed to be stuffing up as much crappy tropes as possible like it was in Undergrads. The main protagonists of the show are supposed to be growing up to be responsible adults for themselves while encountering unique mishaps doing so and that would've made for some powerful character development that was much needed in the original show's ending ... If the show wasn't funny then maybe it's probably best that they start making the show more serious with real character development and sentimental scenes. By the end of the first season the main protagonists of Undergrads came out from the beginning of the season as if nothing happened or mattered. Undergrads isn't going to stand the test of time if it keeps concentrating on jokes with overdone themes in modern day media like you said. Another thing that doesn't make any sense about Undergrads is that nearly all of the 4 protagonists go to different post-secondary schools but they're somehow all within meeting distance of each other ...
I was in elementary when this series first aired. Me and other classmates felt so smug for “getting” an adult oriented show while being grade-schoolers. But when I got to college and stayed at a dorm, this cartoon felt a lot more “real” than most reality shows could dream to be. Undergrads did a really good job showing the weird experience that is life in college.
