can't imagine how much work it is to produce something like this but i can't wait to see the future updates! used to watch undergrads like every night on teletoon detour back in the day; stoked to see the final product!!
Hi Pete, one of your Kickstarter backers here. Thanks so much for the update. I know it will be a mountain of work doing the movie in-house but I am glad to hear some big studio will not get the change to mess with your project. Take your time and make something you are happy with. We will be here waiting for you once it is complete. Also, congrats on making the leap to quit your day job for this. It takes courage. Looking forward to the next update. Best of luck!
Imagine the horror Gimpy must face being told he must leave his dormitory room after 23 years just to then be told he has to wait for the movie crew to finish animating his scenes: which might take another year. I don't think Gimpy even knows what the sun looks like or how green the grass is outside. I'm sure there's got to be a doordash or uber eats joke in there about him being their best customer for over 20 years. I'm convinced that when Gimpy Graduates: he'll end up doing a master's or doing remote work... that guy is never leaving that room.
Undergrads was my favorite show from the first time I watched it as a kid. My friend and I would watch all the episodes over and over, staying up late and binging on candy. We made the cast into paper puppets to make up our own episodes with. It's unbelievable and amazing to me that over two decades later it's going to come back. Please take your time and make something you're proud of, and (I say this as a backer) don't compromise for the sake of "getting it done for backers". I look forward to the next chapter! Sincerely, a lifelong Undergrads fan.
Take as long as you need. And if I can be of any help, let me know. I have a degree in cinematography that I am not using right now, and helping produce the Undergrads movie would make the little child in me and the grown-up so freaking happy! I wouldn't even ask for money. Cheers!
I have to point out just in case it wasn't known, that the french dubbing of the TV show was really popular at the time. Idk if any of the dubbing rights are still within your reach, but some of these dubbed-quotes are still popular to this day in Quebec 👀
Thanks Pete! Even after 20 years I have a soft spot for undergrads. It will still be a long road ahead to completing the movie but I would love to keep supporting the project via a merch store or something!
It takes immense courage to take a gamble on yourself like that, you have all my respect... which I guess you already had, since I've been watching and re-watching Undergrads for 20 years now. We're all rooting for you!
To date, this is the only Kickstarter project I have ever backed. Loved this show when I was in high school, geeked out so hard I even made the theme song play when I booted up / shut down our old Windows XP computer. Sucks about Netflix. But the whole landscape for animation on streaming took a nosedive after 2020. Is what it is. 🤷♀️ Anyway, still stoked for the movie, whenever it may release. And even though I didn't donate for the movie premiere stretch goal, I'm still hoping I can buy a ticket to see it in Toronto. Good luck - I'm rooting for you. 🤘
I wonder how people thought this would be enough to fund the entire project lol. Glad for this update. Whatever happens with this project, we’ll take it. I’m also sharing to everyone who loved Undergrads back in the day, hope that helps.
glad to see this come back, just watched this series for the first time 4 hours through and i can confidently say it needed its finale to tie up loose ends with the characters and give them new beginnings like with Nitz and his relationships, Rocko and him terrorizing the new freshmen, how Kimmy and Jessie go about Nitz after what happened at the party and finally most of all Gimpy and him building the real life Death Star. good times, good times
Thank you Pete! Everytime I look at my Rocko ID from the Kickstart Fundraise, it just reminds me how much fun I had to watch and have Undergrads in my high school years. Made me esteem myself even in my outcast feeling, made me discover bands I still listen today, Good Charlotte, Alkaline Trio.. I still believe in the project and will continue to watch 2001 Undergrads to help me in the waiting process.. Best of luck, you have 100% of my support!!
Dude ive been waiting for this since the show was on teletoon, season 2 being teased with that contest so long ago was such a crushing feeling when nothing came of it. I so hope this works out and we get the evolution of this awesome show
Proud to be a backer and supporter since day 1, and I'm still rocking the avatar you created for my character. (Hey, I was in this video!) Also, where can I get one of those Nitz & Gimpy & Rocko & Cal shirts?
Pete take the time that you need to make sure it comes out right. I hope you can set something else up where we can support you financially for this. I've supported the show for well over two decades and I'm not stopping now.
I remember watching undergrads in 2009 and I was going through some hard times but I always remember I had undergrads to watch at home. I wish I was able to help but now I'm in college and working a part time job to get a computer science degree. I hope your able to produce the next work of art that we all love thanks for taking the time to inform us and for taking the time away from your full time job to start working on this. Maybe some of us fans are good animators and can chip in.
Thanks so much for your commitment to the movie, Pete. And thanks a ton for such a clear and informative update! As a backer I'm stoked to hear the project is still going, and really appreciate all the care and effort that's gone into pre-prod and beyond. Sucks to hear there's no interest from outside buyers, but frankly with the dismal and frustrating state of the industry, specifically for animation projects at streaming platforms and major studios, that unfortunately is not too surprising. Disappointing, but I don't think any of us saw that coming, just like with the pandemic. So stoked to watch as things progress over the next year. You've got our support!
I have been waiting 23 years to see what the click gets up to next... so I can wait longer and watch this video. It has gotten me excited all over again. I cannot wait to watch the movie Pete Williams.
This is freaking awesome! Like this was amazing, the details on pre-production, the life updates and all the R&D. You are really the best Pete. #BringBackUndergrads
Hey I just wanted to say take the time to say that When I watched undergrads for the first time I was in middle school early high school. I'm now almost 30 lol. Your show definitely influenced my life in a way that I can't really articulate at the moment. Thanks for everything man and best of luck. I'll make sure to check out your movie when it drops. Take all the time you need 👌
I will admit that I was concerned at the lack of updates and communication, but I didn't believe you would just take the money and run. I'm glad you haven't given up!
Hey man, just wanted to say thank you. I graduated high school in 2001 and remember when undergrads premiered on MTV. I thought it was very entertaining and always hoped for a second season.
I'm so glad it's not dead! Thank you for all your hard work. I've loved this show since I was a teen and was so bummed when we didn't get more. It might be another 5 years before the movie comes out but I'll still be happy to see it!
You are a great dude 💪 keep doing what you are doing loved the undergrads series growing up it helped me when I was going through high school and college when I needed a laugh and needed to learn a lesson 🎉
Thank you so much for all that you are doing. As a fan for 20+ years I'm eternally greatful for the sacrifices you are making, and the effort you are putting forth to make this dream a reality. I'm so happy you haven't given up and I cried tears of joy to see this update. Thank you *ssslsshp* guy ❤❤
Glad to see you with invigorated energy to get this movie done, Pete! I'd love to chat if you happen to need voice talent. Either way, looking forward to the updates. Cheers!
I’ve definitely been curious on Adobe animator especially from a v-tuber/streaming thing. Seeing it in Live Q&A with animated characters made me realize the power for it in terms of quick content. Glad to see you gave it a test run.
LET'S GOOOOOOOO !!! I'm so happy you are doing this!! This is an enormous undertaking, but I'm so glad that you've got such a devoted fanbase - and I really do think that when it's all complete, it'll be something you'll feel very proud about. I'm subscribed and totally locked in for the Movie , I'm currently rewatching Undergrads and Im going to show it to my friends ! It's awesome , it's got such a unique charm and great characters, I'm ONBOARD!!
Hey Pete, thank you for this update! The fact you are making this movie at all is still an amazement to me, as I thought it would never happen. But even with the odds stacked against you, they have never stopped your drive to get this made, even after all these years. Thank you for your commitement to helping continue one of the most important shows from my childhood. I know you are taking a big risk with this endavour and I know that the fanbase is truly grateful for what you are committing to! Good luck and please keep us in the loop. If there is any aid we can provide, I know there are animators and the like who would be willing to assist 😊
Hey guy! Thanks for sharing the ups and downs of this project and sorry for the downs you have been experiencing so far. You handled this video and addressed everything with class! I can see how overwhelming this must be for you to take everything on, but just how much of a labor of love this project is shines through. Take care of yourself, and take your time, we will be waiting when it's ready!
Watched Undergrads in my senior year of highschool, so back in 2017. Found out about the project my second semester in college, I cannot wait for this movie to come out, it's a shame no one wanted to pick it up, seems post pandemic animation has been put on the back burner for all these companies, I would have preferred The undergrads movie over that one season of Farzar Netflix put out.
I wasn't able to contribute to the kickstarter when it launched. However, whenever this thing drops you can be certain I'll be throwing my money at it. As an aside Invader Zim got a movie, Clone High got a season 2, real shame the powers that be didn't go for this gem of a show.
It's kind of strangely appropriate how Undergrads began with Pete submitting a homemade animation to a contest held by MTV, and ends with Pete animating the Undergrads movie himself. In any case, I thought the Gimpy update video was pretty good. It's crazy how much animation tools have progressed since Undergrads was on TV.
Don't worry about comments. Keep the focus on that project and stay positive. I have a question though, don't you think it would be easier to sell a new season project over a movie?
I've been waiting for over a decade for more undergrads. I miss the gang and regularly rewatch the whole series. If there's any other way for us to support you, do let us know!
I was a very young kid when undergrads first came out. I discovered it a few years ago when I was in college, and I’m graduated now. Hoping this actually comes to pass I’m super hyped
I'd be fine waiting another 5 years (or hell, longer) for this if it meant being able to deliver quality animation and production. A merch store or even a Patreon might be the way to go. I'm kinda surprised there weren't any bites from streaming services, especially if the pitching process took place in the past few years, when it seemed like *every* streaming service was chomping at the bit for original content.
Glad to hear about the updates coming down the pipeline! I'm apart of a group for motion designers and other creatives, seeing monthly updates on a large scale project like this would be something I think could garner some interest from that demographic.
This is awesome and exciting news! I loved Undergrads when it first aired and it has remained a personal favourite of mine ever since. It honestly means a lot to see this project go forward. I was stoked when I first saw the Kickstarter campaign and I'm even more stoked to know that things are moving ahead. Best of luck, and be well!
Hell yeah! Been there since the begining of it all, and patiently been wainting while handling my broomstick gonna be worth all the while thanks a lot and keep it up!!
The best stuff is almost always the most underappreciated. you got major balls, I hope you make a gajillon dollars and finally make it to a beach somewhere. Undergrads forever!
The fact that you quit your job for this both worries and inspires me. If you’re confident about this, then I am, too. Just…as long as it doesn’t blow up in our faces. Clone High could get a second wind, what’s the deal with UG? UG was fantastic in so many aspects. I’ll always be here ready to support, I promised my father and lord and saviour G-Prime I’d never stray. (Just don’t over-stress yourself. Giving up a fixed income for something that might end in debt is a ballsy risk. Don’t be afraid to go back to working at the store). Much love with the Force, E-Prime
I backed the Kickstarter and I have absolutely no regrets. Actually that's not true, I wish I had a larger income so I could contribute more. I never once had the thought that the money didn't go into the project and I still support it whole heartedly. I don't care how long it takes or even if it (god forbid) doesn't happen, I still support the project. I discovered the show one late night in 2002 on Teletoon, the same year I started high school and I still love it. I bought the series on DVD just before I went off to university and I usually rewatch it once a year or so (which I think its been a while so I think I have my weekend plans). Keep up the great work and thanks for everything!
A buddy and started watching UnderGRADS when it aired on TeleToon. We'd quote the show regularly, "Hey guy!" was our normal greeting, "The Duggler" was our way of annoying each other while the simple words "Drinking is yes" initiated a trip to the local pub. When the DVD set was available new I bought him one, however just recently I bought myself a set but used because they're currently out of print. Thank you for the unforgettable entertainment and the memories. All this being said I would happily contribute to another Kickstarter campaign without hesitation.
Glad to see some movement, undergrads has always been a part of my life since watching it in the early 2000s. I still quote random spots from the show weekly, always bring up that time I got a gin and milk from Boston Pizza (as a joke from that one episode), constantly reference The Dougler and continue to have my own bobby whiskey moments. Would love to support the dream of some more Undergrads content, but im sure you have already considered other money making options and I tip my hat to you for going all in. Go get it Pete
I have been waiting since 2001 for the follow up, and have checked up on the progress over the years. It is really cool to see this is actually gonna happen. Kudos man, and keep up the amazing work. ♥
I'm just a humble but BIG lover of undergrads, but (and maybe I missed it) would selling merch help. I'd totally buy a hoodie of cal or nitz, posters etc. or what about patreon, I'm sure LOTS are dying to see this made and would be glad to help out. It worked for Viva la dirt league, why not you guys? :) if you need help, just ask. your fans love you.
We will wait however long it takes. Have you considered starting a Patreon for the project? I know there is probably hesitancy because of the Kickstarter and it still wouldn’t be a lot of money, but it’s a way for fans who can/want to to support the project on a smaller, recurring scale.
Hi Pete! Two things to ask: 1) How are you going to be alright if you're no longer working to support yourself? We all care about you mate and don't want you to lose your house or not be able to do things you like! 2) Might it be a good idea to at least *offer* a donation method to continue to fuel this dream of all ours? So that people that do have money to spare (despite this rather harsh economic day and age) can continue contributing if they want to (just like a link in the description and a video link near the end of each video) I forever show the original series to people I come in contact with, tout the AMAZING soundtrack that at least the Canadian broadcast had, and recommend it to people as an adult cartoon series that deserves attention still to this day as being bonkers in such a good way - Thank you for having made this cult gem those many years ago, I related to Gimpy a lot as a teenager (and still somewhat do!) and am eager to see you expand and wrap up loose plot lines/ideas the original series ended with! Take Care Bud! -Sara
What?! $146k doesn't buy a movie?! I'm shocked! Shocked!
Well, not that shocked.
can't imagine how much work it is to produce something like this but i can't wait to see the future updates! used to watch undergrads like every night on teletoon detour back in the day; stoked to see the final product!!
YO! KURTIS!!!
KURTIS? UNDERGRADS??? WHAT??????
hi kurtis
this is actually insane
Me too 😅
Hi Pete, one of your Kickstarter backers here. Thanks so much for the update. Loved the series
Take as long as you need. And if I can be of any help, let me know. I have a degree in cinematography that I am not using right now, and helping produce the Undergrads movie would make the little child in me and the grown-up so freaking happy!
I wouldn't even ask for money.
Cheers!

TAKE YOUR TIME PETE AND THANK YOU STILL FOR DOING THIS
I was an undergrad when UnderGRADS came out. I am looking forward to the end results and I know its going to be worth the wait.
I was in grade school when I watched the show, now I'm a decade out of uni.
I was an undergrad as well. Sadly, I wasn't aware of the show when it first aired on MTV though.
I have to point out just in case it wasn't known, that the french dubbing of the TV show was really popular at the time. Idk if any of the dubbing rights are still within your reach, but some of these dubbed-quotes are still popular to this day in Quebec 👀
I still have my TekersonTech shirt and i am happy.
Thanks Pete! Even after 20 years I have a soft spot for undergrads. It will still be a long road ahead to completing the movie but I would love to keep supporting the project via a merch store or something!
Hey Guy, thanks for not giving up!
Been a fan of the series for a long time, super hyped to see all the new updates and what happens next.
Anyway, still stoked for the movie, whenever it may release. And even though I didn't donate for the movie premiere stretch goal, I'm still hoping I can buy a ticket to see it in Toronto.
Good luck - I'm rooting for you. 🤘
We've been waiting over twenty years based on just over a dozen episodes. Our patience is proven. Take all the time you need (and can afford to).
Thanks for all your hard work! I'd love to help contribute money.
I wonder how people thought this would be enough to fund the entire project lol. Glad for this update.
Whatever happens with this project, we’ll take it. I’m also sharing to everyone who loved Undergrads back in the day, hope that helps.

I still believe in the project and will continue to watch 2001 Undergrads to help me in the waiting process.. Best of luck, you have 100% of my support!!
Damn I was hoping HBO max would pick up the movie after seeing it pick up clone high. Alas hang in there Pete and thank you for the update
Great to see an update. I've been behind you the whole way. Look forward to more updates.
BTW If you had a Patreon I'd support it.
Dude ive been waiting for this since the show was on teletoon, season 2 being teased with that contest so long ago was such a crushing feeling when nothing came of it. I so hope this works out and we get the evolution of this awesome show

You are and will always be my hero. Thanks Pete.

I believe in you, Nitz guy.

Holy crap what a leap of faith! Rooting for you guys!
Love your dedication to getting this done, my wife and I kickstarted this and are willing to wait however long it takes!

Wild to see your actual face lol
Much Love brother. So many people I know also remember and love Undergrads.
You are a champ for taking this massive challenge on for us fans! Thanks for being awesome, Pete!
We believe in you Pete! Just watched my Undergrads dvd last week thanks to your update.
LET'S GOOOOOOOO !!! I'm so happy you are doing this!! You're seriously the best, we are truly living in a blessed timeline to have you making an undergrads movie!
Holy crap! I was just bingeing this show the other day. I can't believe there's gonna be more Undergrads (hopefully)!!!
This man literally is committed to finishing the story just like Cody Rhodes. Keep it up Pete. We're all rooting for you.
Looking forward to this one, Undergrads was a hidden gem!
Maybe a little too well hidden.
Good luck and please keep us in the loop. If there is any aid we can provide, I know there are animators and the like who would be willing to assist 😊
Used to really like this show when I was younger. Seeing how good you look now gives me hope that I'm not old... Not to grab my hip meds...
Thank you so much for the update and for going all out to make this movie happen!! So excited! Skid Ro bro 🤘
Hey guy!
Thanks for sharing the ups and downs of this project and sorry for the downs you have been experiencing so far. You handled this video and addressed everything with class!

Bless you!!!! Take your time, patience is important... Thank you for the update!!!!
when the world needed pete the most, he returned.
Yay keep up the good work! Take care of yourself Pete
We believe in you, Pete!
Holy Shit!
Undergrads Movie!!! 🤯

I was stoked when I first saw the Kickstarter campaign and I'm even more stoked to know that things are moving ahead. Best of luck, and be well!
In Pete we trust. Let us know if we can help with another round of funding!
Hell yeah brother!!! Looking forward to the final product
good to hear your voice!
Much love with the Force,
E-Prime
The creators of Clone High have had very successful careers in Hollywood. That opens a lot of doors Pete doesn't have access to.
@@IMissBionixyeah, I guess, but UG has something that CH doesn’t; Rob Brody.
He got the hook-up.
I am very so freaking always supports you Mr. Pete Williams and the fans will always support you what matter the time dude
I will say, that UnderGRADS gimpy on adobe is pretty impressive.
Way cooler than those anime Vtubers on twitch.
Hey Pete, so awesome to hear you’re working full time to see this project come to fruition!
If there’s any way I can assist please let me know…
Glad to see some movement, undergrads has always been a part of my life since watching it in the early 2000s.
Glad it’s gonna start coming together thank you for your persistence love the show can’t wait for the movie 🍿
I'd buy some merch! My Kickstarter t shirt is slowly dying!
We're all rooting for you!🥳🥳
Sounds like an upgrade. Gimme them delicious blood, sweat, and tears. 🤖
We will wait however long it takes. Have you considered starting a Patreon for the project? I know there is probably hesitancy because of the Kickstarter and it still wouldn’t be a lot of money, but it’s a way for fans who can/want to to support the project on a smaller, recurring scale.
I'm alive and still waiting... After repeats and repeats of all episodes of Undergrads.
Great things are worth waiting for! Thanks for the update.
Thank you for the update! I'm really glad you're going all in instead of dropping it! I'll be looking all the updated and "boring" technical stuff!
God I miss Undergrads so much. Only thing I'd want brought back over it is Megas XLR.
Hi Pete! Two things to ask:
1) How are you going to be alright if you're no longer working to support yourself? We all care about you mate and don't want you to lose your house or not be able to do things you like!
2) Might it be a good idea to at least *offer* a donation method to continue to fuel this dream of all ours? So that people that do have money to spare (despite this rather harsh economic day and age) can continue contributing if they want to (just like a link in the description and a video link near the end of each video)
I forever show the original series to people I come in contact with, tout the AMAZING soundtrack that at least the Canadian broadcast had, and recommend it to people as an adult cartoon series that deserves attention still to this day as being bonkers in such a good way - Thank you for having made this cult gem those many years ago, I related to Gimpy a lot as a teenager (and still somewhat do!) and am eager to see you expand and wrap up loose plot lines/ideas the original series ended with!
Take Care Bud!
-Sara
i watched the whole series last year really underrated show and i look forward to seeing it continue
