So I’m in a really weird spot I feel like on my channel, I started a year ago and have been spotty with posting my long form content but what I would do between long form content is post “remix” from the current video to I guess give me something to post, now those weren’t giving me long form views but did give me subs. I feel like my long form views started picking up possibly because of this? Well recently I had a short blow up recently close to 700k views and RUclips has this new thing where you can link your long form video to it so I did that and people actually started watching my long form videos because I did that and so I did this on more of my shorts and people are actually going to my long form from my short form. Not in huge numbers but I’m getting a few hundred views and in the past week or so I have almost gained 1k subs and I’m a small channel that only had like 700 subs now I’m at 1.5k I believe. So this year I made a promise to myself that next week I’m going to start a schedule and take this way more seriously but I’m curious what you guys think. Thanks!
I should've written them down. I watched the whole vid in 1 sitting. It wasn't said this way, but that's what it is. Start and be you. Share what you've done, what you know. Even if you use a clip of someone and you talk about it, you're still sharing your thoughts about it. like Sean says, Press record.
My biggest takeaway was the perception people have of being a You Tube Content Creator vs Having a Podcast. I think people may "view" a podcaster as being "more mature" As opposed to someone doing videos on You Tube. Food for Thought.
As a new RUclipsr, I feel these tips were highly insightful! 🎉 Loved every bit of it.. Also, to all New RUclipsrs DON'T GIVE UP! We are all in this TOGETHER ❤️ 🚀
I know I'm the only person doing the kind of content I'm doing (Deaf Ministry, sitting down and teaching lessons). So I have no blueprint, but trusting God completely. 💞
Glad to hear vlogs are not dead as I started one a while ago lol. I have to say I have been on RUclips for 6 years. I’ve followed all the guru advice over the years and have grown as a creator. However I got trapped in a niche so started this channel. I started off sharing decluttering tips and most videos wouldn’t go past 300 views. That was with 6 years experience. Then I changed to vlog format and was filming myself very authentically. Hair a mess, clothes with stains etc you name it I truly showed up as me in a way not many are willing too. I have chronic illness and barely have energy to brush my hair so I’ve bought that reality to my audience. My views are so much better at around 2-3k with only 10 videos out. Vlogs are where it’s at. This channel isn’t far behind my other channel in views and that has 25k. I do wish it was easier to find other vlogs in search as I have to rely on the home page. My advice - make what you like watching. Topic and format will make or break your channel.
As a new RUclipsr this is SUPER helpful! I just passed 1,000 subs and so excited for 2024 🤗 If only my content was Podcastable. Thanks Think Media and sending positive vibes to everyone building their channels this year!
The current state of RUclips, you have to have 2 separate channels, one for shorts one for long form. I personally only look for long form content on RUclips.
Thank you for the insights!! I am an aspiring RUclipsr from Australia & have been wanting to do RUclips for years, I decided to take it seriously last year, fell off the wagon for a lil bit but I’m pumped for 2024 to keep consistency & get 1% better. Thank you think media, I consume all your content for the past 3 years & has helped me significantly. Also, I recently uploaded a ‘my story’ just me being vulnerable & sharing my story of how fitness changed my life and spoke from my heart. I totally didn’t expect the views I got!! It just goes to show, no need to fancy edits, people appreciate connection & story telling 💜
I started a french podcast 12 weeks ago. episode 12 is releasing today and I can relate SO MUCH with what omar says. In person as well here. Makes me connect with people I didnt have chance to connect since a while. And YES its a lot of work but still amazing
I agree about the authenticity thing, I recently understood why and what my podcast is all about: Christianity and Mental Health/Illness. I'm autistic and I have ADHD and I'm a Christian. Let's talk about all the things we are scared to talk about and ask all the questions no-one wants to ask.
I think beginner quantity over quality is a good point because as y’all said in a previous video, we don’t even know what questions to ask as a beginner. So in order to know quality, we have to learn how to see good vs bad quality in our own work.
I’m only 11 minutes in and this is sooo good already! My eyes have been opened to new possibilities in my own niche like PodCasts and informational shorts!
the thing I hate about shorts is that they did it go compete with tiktok same with Instagram reels! So the thing you love about a platform e.g. Long videos on RUclips and photographs on Instagram get pushed aside and the people who enjoy that thing lose out! It's frustrating if I want short videos I don't go to RUclips I go to tiktok muddling it up for business makes nobody happy who is creating
🚀🔥💎 I found so many great tid bits of advice in this video. All of which I want to check out. Starting a YT channel/Podcast is a desire, and listening to this conversation has been really valuable. Thank you both for what you've shared. ❤😊
Omar to see you be on RUclips for awhile, and then discuss how your podcast popped off years later… even know you just started.. is so motivating because you never know when your moment is going to happen. I’m so happy for you and can see the little kid excitement in your eyes. You seem like such a good genuine dude… I hope to meet you one day at a think media event. I think you are going to continue to do, big, big, things in this industry. It inspired me because I want to make it so bad on RUclips … but I think about Gary Vee…. And practice patience and enjoy the process… I’ve become obsessed with RUclips and wanting to be successful … I understand I’m doing my time… get one percent better each day, enjoy the process, and your one video away from changing your life. I’m loving your new content and I’m leaning in hard on your podcast. Delivering so much value. Thank you brother 💪🥰
This video had me hooked, loads of great inspiration and advice... I've thought about a podcast in the past, as a way to get established in a space and meet the people that have travelled the journey before me - this year I will nail down a format and hit record! 👍
I go on the RUclips search bar and my favorite channels to look for specific info or even new content. I generally don’t watch the full video from the snippet of a recommended short. I will watch a long form video from a short based on something I’m searching for
This was really interesting, I'm pretty new to growing youtube- I've been doing it for 6 months - and I'm tired of videos with quick hacks on how to grow. I'm a lot more interested in story telling, and building a brand. This conversation really made me think of how to reuse content without skipping out on the quality of my long-form videos
Omar, that's powerful about Myron Golden. People that learn from him love him and they've made more money, built bigger. I heard of him through Russel Brunson, I was like who is that? Then more and more ppl started talking about him and how he's helped them. There's so many people doing big things we Have Never heard of, that's so powerful.
I agree. Even as a viewer I come to RUclips because I watch peoples videos to get to know them as a person and feel like a friend to them and that’s how I want my channel to be. If shorts will turn someone into a long form video sub then that would be ideal, but I don’t think that’s always going to be the case.
Exactly@@jessicaaczerwinski When new shorts will get you more subs probably and you want to get monetized, but beyond that, I want a business that I can take off youtube, in addition to my youtube channel.
07:00 mindless is the keyword here, because it's hurting retention rates. Once someone consumes shorts, it's hard to want to sit and watch or consume long-term content.
My podcast Kind and Gentle Word has 44 episodes in less than a year. I had no idea I was in the minority with that number of episodes! They made it sound easy to get views/listeners, it’s actually pretty tough. But so worth it.
The shorts conversation is an interesting one. I grew by 500K subscribers in 2023 and had one of my best revenue months due to one of two of my shorts going viral. My hope is that the shorts will bring more people to my more valuable long-form content. We’ll see what happens!
I upload my Instagram reels to RUclips as RUclips shorts and the money they make for me makes a difference. They also gain me a load of subscribers. They may not be the same people that watch my longform content and I might need to build that separately but for no extra effort I’m not going to ignore it.
Would love to see a video about overall channel strategy: 'Personal Brand' VS. 'Corporate Brand'... when the INTENTION is to sell the brand at a future date... thoughts?
Ahem.... I think you'll find that English is still the world's dominant language, though by no means the only really popular one. Your point is well-made....
I love this and gives me motivation and inspiration for my own video podcast which I just started last week! I am doing one episode per week and already have guests booked out for the next 2 months!
Top Languages spoken 1. English (1,452 million speakers) 2. Mandarin (1,118 million speakers) 3. Hindi (602+ million speakers) 4. Spanish (548+ million speakers)
I started and built my main channel on long-form and started doing shorts. It is a different audience, I do music reactions, so my intent for shorts was to get people from the shorts to go watch full reactions. It is totally different for this niche. I have a secondary music reaction channel, that I started posting my shorts to exclusively and that seems to work better for me. The revenue for shorts in this niche is really low, even with a couple viral videos, it just seem to be more of a waste of time that I could use better on long-form.
Another thing, yall (I'm from Texas lol) got me thinking about the 2 podcast ideas and another channel idea, i'm more motivated to just do it. not all at same time, but it feels simpler.
I don’t remember the last time I watched a short. Even though it’s the first thing I see. For example right now I’m watching a long form piece of content from Think Media.
In all honesty, I have unsubscribed from most channels that create shorts off their long form as I have already watched the long form one and now I have all these notifications with the shorts. Very frustrating when I am short on time and looking for new videos from channels I enjoy😢
I found myself watching this whole video. Nice to hear now vlogging isn't dead.🙂 Idk if I should give up or not, but something interesting in this video was quality over quantity. I noticed a vlogger posting a lot of videos that they didn't need to spend a lot of time and effort on and they rarely get a lot of views, but their channel grows fast, which is kind of interesting but frustrating at the same time. I have to figure out a new plan. This was a bit motivational to post more even if it's not super great quality, but of course some people don't want to post crappy videos so they choose to stop posting. Decisions decisions. Thanks as always for sharing this podcast.
This was a great conversation! I just disagree with one thing that was said at the end of the video the Internet cannot spot a fake there’s so many fake creators
Wow! All of this is facts! I’m in the thick of it .. growing .. I have 1.6k and RUclips shorts is hard to get audience . But definitely good for story telling. Instagram is wayyyy harder though lmbo .
This was really amazing. Thank you for this. I don’t know if you guys have a video coming out on ‘how you shot this podcast’ but would be great to have an insight on the BTS of this. Thanks
I'm gonna be honest, I am not interested in creating shorts at all. You are catering to 2 different audiences when you start incorporating short-form videos and some things IMO don't need to be in short-form videos. I have noticed the same thing when it comes to channels blowing up from shorts and when I check to see how their long-form videos are doing, they are barely pulling 100 views, no matter how many subscribers they have. To me, that's not a good look for your channel and if you desire to be a RUclips Creator primarily making long-form RUclips Content, I don't think it's advisable to even mess around with RUclips Shorts unless that's the audience you intend to primarily create content for.
To answer Nolan's (rhetorical?) question about the power of podcast medium; at least for myself I can say 100% I wouldn't have gotten into the first few if they were only the audio in a traditional podcast. Those first few I watched were basically the equivalent of drinking the kool-aid, im obsessed (and it converted me from streaming anything but RUclips now, I actually let Disney+ and prime video lapse). Im a visual person, (not always a good thing but...) so even if I happened to randomly stumble across a podcast in only audio and was listening, it wouldnt be enough for me to get to the end of it. I also find if I try to listen to an audio book or podcast while doing dishes or driving I dont remember the content like I do with video (and I cannot multi task to save my life, thanks alot ADHD 😒). But it comes down to keeping me engaged to finish the episode with visual, I imagine im not the only one.
This episode was so informative and educational! My one question is, when I create a video podcast 4:27 can I create it and edit or is it automatically live? Thank you
Do you think RUclips Shorts is straying people to consume long-term content? Because I feel while shorts has it's benefits; I have four monetized channels and now I teach other creators who to do the same on their end with Pesce Media; I brought in on one posted video last year 20,000 new subs just from one of 200+ shorts posted. But I just feel people aren't consuming enough of the long-term videos that it's hurting content creators who are monetized to earn a decent income, because highest I've been paid per thousand views on shorts is $0.04 which on one of my channels I earn over $9 in some cases with long-term video. What's your thought on the future of this?
Such a good video! 🫶 I’ve been binge watching all of your videos and I’m obsessed! Should I upload my YT podcast videos to my same channel or should I start a separate channel for the podcast? I currently do 1 long form per week and I will start doing 2 YT podcasts per month
Do you think since I'm signing in all of my videos I need to do more minimal editing? I'm using ASL to communicate so all of my videos have my hands moving to create words, sentences, and thoughts.
My audience is 60% shorts watchers and 40% long form. I consider myself a long form creator as a history channel but for me I can post a short and rack up more views and subscribers than 5 long form videos on average
Awesome episode gents. Oumar i watched the session with Myron Golden entirely. It was really full of valuable information. Thank you gentlemen for being generous with your time, knowlege and experience. Quick question for you Oumar. Do you record your podcast sessions while streaming live, or you record and publish after post production?
The Latin language was the language used in much of science and education and religion. But that changed and English replaced it. The vast majority of European countries are english speaking as a highly-taught 2nd language. Philippines is the same. Not in all countries. But India, most of Europe, other parts of Asia, are english-speaking, being taught commonly in school. If you want a job requiring a 2nd language, English is a popular choice for that reason. As another example, passenger jet staff throughout the world speak English. Boeing is a major supplier of passenger jets, being the reason for that. For a brief period, we were told 'learn Mandarin or Cantonese' but due to the path taken by China, that is gone now. We operated a portfolio of apartment properties in California. We had tenants from: Turkey Iran Iraq Syria India China Taiwan Hong Kong Malaysia Italy France Ukraine Spain Germany and most of the european countries. It was shocking to see that variety of nationalities all being conversant in English, because in the U.S., we absolutely do NOT take it for granted or even expect that many countries to teach English. So it was eye-opening. The one tenant we had from Ukraine had parents who were missionaries and traveled internationally. They were so fluent, it they'd taken a class in 'accent reduction', you'd have thought they grew up in the U.S. .

This is sooooo good!!! Oh my gosh! One day I wanna do an interview podcast with both of u individually!
Awesome discussion….i learned heaps…millions of thanks 👍🙏🏻
Thanks guys.
So close to reaching that 500 goal !! 🙏🏽
Thank you so much! I have so much to learn lol blessings to everyone!
I’m subscribed to this one girl who mastered RUclips shorts. All her shorts get millions of views.
Who?
I think about the competitive landscape changing with the AI dubbing a lot. It’s either going to be a blessing or a curse we shall see lol.
Such a good video! 🫶 I’ve been binge watching all of your videos and I’m obsessed!
Should I upload my YT podcast videos to my same channel or should I start a separate channel for the podcast?
I currently do 1 long form per week and I will start doing 2 YT podcasts per month
you guys are so insightful ! thank you! 🙏 Video podcast or bust, let's goooooo! ! !
I learned so much in this conversation. Thank you.
I do both forms, yes! 🙌
Thank you
Fired up to get going....thanks guys!!!!
For RUclips shorts, I look alot to Jenny Hoyos! Her advice definitely helped me.
This information was so helpful. I’m trying to break the plan in shorts for my fitness channel now.
So glad you got value from this!
Do you think since I'm signing in all of my videos I need to do more minimal editing? I'm using ASL to communicate so all of my videos have my hands moving to create words, sentences, and thoughts.
Goals !
Superb as always. Thank you from me. Warm wishes from Millionaire Paul 👋
Pure gold...again 🙂
Conversation is so interesting will listen again and again😊 please can I use my present channel for podcast?
Nice video...
I would like to know if you were using the Mevo cams...
THE setup looks great
I'll watch several shorts from one channel to make a quick decision about whether I want to follow the channel or not not.
👍👍
English is by FAR the most popular language in the world. Spanish isn't even second...
good long form content, great advice informative content
Thank you for your support and feedback💯
My audience is 60% shorts watchers and 40% long form.
I consider myself a long form creator as a history channel but for me I can post a short and rack up more views and subscribers than 5 long form videos on average
💪👍
Mandarin Chinese is one of the largest spoken languages.
To the person who find this comment don't give up before the day of success
If the shorts intrigue me enough, I will go to their main channel! 🎉🎉🎉
We had tenants from:
Turkey
Iran
Iraq
Syria
India
China
Taiwan
Hong Kong
Malaysia
Italy
France
Ukraine
Spain
Germany
and most of the european countries. It was shocking to see that variety of nationalities all being conversant in English, because in the U.S., we absolutely do NOT take it for granted or even expect that many countries to teach English.
So it was eye-opening. The one tenant we had from Ukraine had parents who were missionaries and traveled internationally. They were so fluent, it they'd taken a class in 'accent reduction', you'd have thought they grew up in the U.S.
.
Great video
