- The Four Corners Monument marks the quadripoint in the Southwestern United States where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah meet. It is the only point in the United States shared by four states, leading to the area being named the Four Corners region. The monument also marks the boundary between two semi-autonomous Native American governments, the Navajo Nation, which maintains the monument as a tourist attraction, and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Reservation.
The origins of the state boundaries marked by the monument occurred just prior to, and during, the American Civil War, when the United States Congress acted to form governments in the area to combat the spread of slavery to the region. When the early territories were formed, their boundaries were designated along meridian and parallel lines. Beginning in the 1860s, these lines were surveyed and marked. These early surveys included some errors, but even so, the markers placed became the legal boundaries, superseding the written descriptions of geographical meridians and parallels. This includes the Four Corners Monument, which has been legally established as the corner of the four states.
Where’s jimmy?
Utah
I thought you guys where going to the 4 corners
Yeah we did and he’s in Utah
Funny
Were going.. not where
Fucking frtnite pfp
Yeah guys I went to 4 different states in less than a 5 seconds...
Excellent. I felt my presence far from India
that's surreal, reminds me of being in the multiple places at the same time💯like hands and feet in different places wondering around 🤣💫
I was there in the late 1980s. I arrived at sunset and I was the only one there! There were only the markers in the ground and Navajo vendors selling jewelry. No buildings, walls, railings, benches - they really built this place up since then!
It’s a cash cow, now.
It was nice then...
I first visited this monument in the early 60's....virtually nothing there except the circle with the crossing of the state lines. I revisited a few years later, abhored the trashy commercialism it had morphed into and NEVER returned.
I'm going there very soon. Thanks so very much for sharing this with me 💙 from Texas 🇨🇱
🇨🇱 is Chile.
So somebody is laying on the ground with their arms and legs spread out with One Limb in each state. And if somebody shoots and kills them
Which state will prosecute them
Or will all four states prosecute
New mexico
I took a photo of my grandparents here in the 70's. It doesn't look like the same place.
What changed
@@sentientarugula2884 There was a small gravel parking lot surrounding it, and about a 50-foot square of grey concrete with 4 brass circles or caps, you could park next to it about 10 ft away. No landscaping, walkways, buildings, no vendors selling things, or very many people. There was only one car with 2 people there taking photos. It was cool to see it the way it was.
This is such a special place!
Which state has jurisdictions over this landmark?
I would like it if someone was able to play 4 square with the 4 state corners
Can't wait to visit ✌️✌️
Thanks. Saved me time and money as I watch from California!
one thing I'd love to do there is just run in a circle and then act very winded, then when someone asks "What's wrong?" I'd say "I just ran across 4 states!"
Do they charge going there?
If so why if it’s public property.
1:40 i remember when i was a kid i met an quiz in my country that there is a guy who is said to acquire clone or (doppelganger) technique like a ninja. he could stand on 4 countries at the same time on earth. without using any time machine. he doesnt separate any of his body parts or his shoes. nor chopping his cap, shirt, pants apart. witness says he never do any cunning act. why and how could he do that?
@Christian DiPaola I also couldn't read that at all lmao
It feels this man is going way to fast
Que interesante pensar, estar parado o sentado simultáneamente en los cuatro estados: UTAH, COLORADO, ARIZONA Y NUEVO MÉXICO.
So beautiful
How long does it take to get to one state from there?
a couple of seconds
@@selfisht 😂
Like one step
Less than a second
I'm heading to Wyoming on Friday morning and im planning on stopping there, is there a specific hour only allowed to stop there?
Rey Rojo nope, but do check ahead...because the Indians own this and it’s on Indian land. And as you know..Covid hit them hard. And many Indian reservations are shut down.
@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist thank you for the video and the information sir.
@@reyrojo4702 navajonationparks.org/tribal-parks/four-corners-monument/.... it is closed. But, I bet you could park outside the area and walk over. I can’t imagine anyone would be there. Illegal?yes.
A coworker of mine told me that no other location in the US has more incidents of indecent exposure than Four Corners Monument. Because the laws differentiate in the four states.
Looks beautiful there. What's the cost to get in there?
I also did four states at once, lying on my back with my arms and legs spread out. 😄
Is this the highway Forest Gump ran?
Awesome be in 4 different states within 5 seconds, like Superman 🦸♂️, cool Adventure 🏰 Awesome drive. I would like to 360VR interactive this location some day
Cosmo Kramer: I must be at the nexus of the universe! 😆😆
If weed is legal in Colorado and Arizona but not in New Mexico and Utah then what happens if you smoke weed in all four at once?
You get him 4 states at once
Then the Governors of all four States will show up to duke it out over which one gets you.
They cancel out, 2-2= 0.
Which means.... Idk, it's just whatever I guess, neither legal or illegal
Get the Tribe's permission first, I guess, then you'll have nothing to worry about.
It's not actually 4 square 90deg corners as the monument shows ..the north border line comes in on an angle according to Google Earth
Are you serious or are you joking?
Yes......The Four Corners regional area becomes complicated primarily due to the earth's elliptical orbit around the sun, which tend to stretch the inheirent cardinal lines.
Four corners is actually off by a few feet
Yes actually
disturbing facts:they are not a lined
There is the Original person along with her mother and Grandmother who started the gift shop at the visitor center. She is still there, ( October 20,2023) She sells the REAL turquoise and REAL silver jewelry not the made elsewhere claiming to be real. She is located in the far back . ❤❤❤❤🌵
4 state speed run
Where is it
Bro💀💀💀💀
Just remember not to stand in Arizona if you plan to commit a crime; it's the only state of the four to still use capital punishment
Imagine saying you flying to Arizona and saying that you went to Utah New Mexico and Colorado
Utalaradewxicarizona
I bet the governors of the respective states must come here to solve the problems that affect them.
We will meet i come from north south america 4 corners im 100% native american andean apache aztec kickapoo proud
If you stand in the middle where are u
New Mexico, it isn't perfectly alligned
Which is the one where the aliens come from
AWWW, haven't we stood in four different states long enough?
No.
Love that the Indigenous peoples get to rightfully charge people to step on the land that was taken from them 🙌🏾🙌🏾
No one cares
@@dcoing1907 definitely not true.
Too bad nobody kicks you out of your house because somebody had a shit hole in the ground there 300 years ago.
Looks a little too touristy and I heard it's not even in the right place.
so you pay money to standw on a plate? thats wired... sorry, but that is bs
No
Well maybe you don't have the I Teresa to go there. Some people actually do.
It's the Indians' land! Don't like it, don't go!
Yes, it’s Indian land. And a nominal fee…like $5 or there abouts.
Don't ever say the world is over populated !
Over populated means there isn't enough place for people to live you see them making anything about it
A true fact, the entire world population can all fit into Texas!
