Amelia And JP .. I give you this information, so that you take it into account in case of questions.. The basic salary is $ 400 is the minimum that a person must earn in the private company, which is generally earned by masons, domestic workers with affiliation to social security by "law", there are also cases of people with higher education and professionals who earn as base that salary but we all have compensation such as the thirteenth, which is paid until March 15 and is a bonus of $ 400 and the fourteenth which is all earned in the year. For example, a commercial advisor earns $ 400 as a base, this is called mobilization, but they also pay commissions of 4% to 10%, others that can end up earning in a month from $ 1,000 - $ 2,000 - $ 3,000 etc without having a ceiling limit, and also "profits" that are the profits of the whole year of a company, distributed among its workers. Ah! but supervisors, company managers etc. The minimum is $ 6,000 a month, worse journalists here earning from $ 7,000 as a base. Now, in the public service much more is earned, the base salary is $ 700 but generally the professionals exceed $ 1,200 as a base, doctors from $ 2,500 onwards the same teachers from $ 1,200 depending on the institutions, companies that previously gave good profits were the telephone companies where their employees earned from $ 700 to $ 3,000 but according to the family burden they gave you $ 5,000 per child, that is, if you have 2 more children, your spouse was a profit of $ 20,000 profit + salary, in short, the problem is for those who They do not have a stable job, many times they earn more doing trade, they can get to make their $ 1,000 and more, as well as living alone with just $ 400. There are many people here who earn a lot of money, but there are also people without education who cannot access a salary greater than $ 400 unless they become a merchant, or become a business executive, where through their sales they earn a lot of money, That is, there are well-paid people here, but there are also many poorly paid, and those are those who migrate to work and make money, and then have a better future, then return to the country with money saved to live their retirement with ease. And apart from that many get into politics, and in the blink of an eye they are already billionaires for corruption, which is what is most abundant in the countries of South America. In my country, the "populism" managed by the previous government did a lot of damage and taught the new generations to hate those who have the most "(pelucones)" that is how they call the wealthy, businessmen and bankers in our country, blaming them for being exploited because of "savage capitalism", and where they assure that they are the biggest tax evaders, that they take the money to tax havens, damaging the country. Do not feel bad if someone suddenly makes some crazy message, like some I have read, indicating that foreign expats make the properties and services of the place where they live more expensive. A Greetings from Guayaquil!
Interesting video, I am Ecuadorian, those apartments as you mentioned are luxury, furnished and close to the beach for that reason the high prices, any property worldwide next to the beach are expensive, but you can find more affordable rentals and in excellent condition for less than $500
yes..and seems enough of us have been watching *enough* ex-pat videos to agree that those prices are ridiculously high for Ecuador - even for vacation rentals near the beach...thanks for chiming in with the truth.👍🙋🏾♀️
Really great info guys. I'm getting closer and closer to pulling the trigger on relocating. I want to be by the beach and knowing what to expect is very helpful. The US is just becoming unbearable anymore with all the division and political issues. Thank you again from Colorado Springs Co. WB-USMC-RET.
I am so enjoying your vlogs while I sit here in my flat during lockdown, in Northern Ireland,UK. Oh, you guys made the right choice in so many ways. Love the frankness, the insider info, and those great aerial shots. Thank you both for taking the time and patience for creating this invaluable content.
In my experience, the best way to find an apartment in foreign lands is to get to know a taxi driver. They know what's up everywhere, and they can help to get you the local price or near the local price.
That helped me in Baltimore when I first got there. He would drive down streets and say, "Whatever you do, don't rent here...or here.....or here..." So much for that city. 😯
Nice places but I was a little surprised at the prices. For $1000/mo you can get a pretty nice apartment here in the Carolinas. Thank you for the video.
We've heard that about SC. We were paying $1800 for a 1bed/1bath 800 sqft apartment in Denver, so these seem like good deals to us. I guess it's all perspective. You can find much cheaper places away from the beach with fewer amenities.
Really? You mean the same type and style Beach Front in Myrtle Beach or Wilmington. I doubt it. I own a house in Fayetteville, NC that is for rent for $800/mo. But if I had a condo in the beach front of Wilmington the price should around $1200 to $1500/mo..Now obviously you can get an apartment for $350 in Olón, but no beach front and a lot of less luxurious setting.
I will definitely continue my research ex-pat life seems to be the way to go for me just a matter of location. NC prices may be great however I'm looking for not just lower cost of living but cultural diversity and acceptance. I'll take Ecuador any day of the week over any part of their artfully contrived southern hypocrisy and heritage.
I just saw a magnificent house on GringoPost with every conceivable amenity on a large piece of property with fruit trees elsewhere in Ecuador for only $450 a month. You have to pay for your own utilities, but what a deal. So large you could put two families in it.
Great videos. I was in Ecuador five years ago looking for property. They had very nice units. The only problem I had with it is the front doors were torn up from people breaking in. They had security there. But it was probably the security that were telling their cousins brothers and sisters when you left so they could break in. I’d like Ecuador but don’t think I would want to buy a new television weekly.
I see a lot of comments regarding the price of these places. Well, as an Ecuadorian I can assure you that here not everything will be extremely cheap. All depends on where you are. A fully furnished apartment in a touristic area in front of the beach with those services will be pricey for sure. I love your videos! Great information!! I’m planning to visit Olon by the end of this year! You have a new subscriber! Si tienen alguna duda extra de Ecuador o de Quito! No duden en contactarse! Saludos y los mejores deseos!
Yep, it is!! I'm an ecuadorian (born in Guayaquil) who has been living abroad (as US citizen) for the past 33 yrs., and MY ENTIRE childhood and teen years were spent vacationing in Salinas and all that area shown in this video. Back then, Olón, Montañita and all those small beach towns (except for Salinas) along the coast, were practically empty and mostly inhabited only by fishermen and their families. It was absolute gorgeous when the area was not overly developed as it seems to be now. It pains me to see, for instance, what Montañita has become. Back in the days we used to host the Surf championship there with nice groups of people simply gathered on the open beach space and there was just a "station" house on the beach made simply of some "caña" and a bit of wood....and there was practically nothing else around! Aahhh, those were the days of true simplicity and PURE nature around you!! Back then, no one wanted to live or have a summer house in those smaller villages. They were not considered "chic" enough because they lacked some modern life amenities. Salinas was the place to be! But now, no one can even pay me to live in Salinas!! It has lost its original charm (believe me!!). It is indeed painful to see that the prices for rentals are almost like the ones @ Florida or even NY! Totally RIDICULOUS. (Hey, we are not talking about the French Riviera here!) Average Ecuadorians can't afford such ridiculous high rental prices (let alone buy!). What I see now happening is that the whole area has become a bit too popular and there are people dedicated to catering expats' real estate needs with these very high prices. For Ecuador, the prices should be way much lower. Sad.
Happy Birthday Amelia !!!! Hope it was a very unconventional celebration. Apologies I was unable to attend party via video today. I wish you much joy on your special day and throughout the year.
I am Ecuadorian, back in high school a participate on an exchange program in Minnesota, people thought we lived in caves and they thought I was rich because my dad was a lawyer.. I had yo explain that some lawyers and doctors do not make a lot down here 😂 I love your channel thanks for showing the world the American perspective of our country. If you need any help when in Guayaquil let my know 😊
as usual, you ask the "right" questions (not all interviewers have that knack).....you really know your audience......LOTS of info, you really cover a lot of ground with valuable insights.....might be my favorite post yet. (you two really seem to enjoy each other's company....OR you're great actors. that helps "sell" this channel.) Nice job.
Brand new building.... I bet the channel is getting paid here. Either for the ad of the videos or a commission somewhere. Not mad at them but those prices are found in *HOUSTON* with larger size apartments, a part of the US that is supposed to be *AFFORDABLE* compared to NYC, LA, Miami, etc.
I have to admit I'm a little more than jealous. You both seem to have the best of both worlds financially stable, professional tourist and best of all someone special to enjoy life with. You both compliment each other.
Yes, there are cheaper places under $500, but they're not on the beach and don't have the amenities. They also aren't represented by the agents who were kind enough to show us around.
I think the prices are reasonable for what you get. A one bedroom, unfurnished apt in Reno is now 1,000 a month, utilities not included. I imagine it's like anything in real estate....location plus amenities.
@@robertwhite1181 True, but if you do not speak any Spanish, is very convenient to have an interpreter and a person that has that much experience renting to expats.
These were higher end places near or on the beach so they're a lot more expensive. Our place is $700 per month for a 3bed/2bath condo, but we don't have a view or amenities. You can find places for less than $500/month here, but those typically aren't represented by agents so we don't have easy access to them for our videos. We're working on that for a future video.
in july 2019, my filapina GF and I stayed in a solid 3 star hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia. it had a nice pool, and came with a very decent morning breakfast buffet on the terrace overlooking the city. comfy lobby. good wifi, and 5-6 English channels on the TV. solid working A/C. intl feel b/c of proximity to angkor wat. price per day was.... $16 for us both. no deposit. no extra charge for elec. thats 480 a month.
Gizziiusa Asia is a lot cheaper than South America in general. However, you can’t compare a luxury fully furnished condo on the beach to a 3 star hotel room without a kitchen in a Cambodian city.
@@AmeliaAndJP it is for now b/c the Chinese horde has abated a bit due to the pandemic, but if/when the global economy gets going again, good deals will be hard to come by even in SE Asia. And sure, no kitchen is a bummer at times if one enjoyed cooking their fav meals. We made due with eating at low to mid range restaurants. ciao.
So glad I found your channel. Moving to Ecuador tomorrow from Phuket, Thailand. Don't know where I want to land. Was thinking of Manta, but curious about Olon now. Would love to buy you guys a tasty beverege.
Just stumbled across you all today. Happy to have found your channel. My wife and I have visited Latin America off and on for years and often consider at least part-time ex-pat living. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I am glad you are happy in Ecuador and I do plan to visit Ecuador. I have been in Colombia and am planning to relocate to Colombia when flights resume. I have made several trips to Colombia and have visited Cartagena, Cucuta, Bogota, and Medellin. My wife was born in Colombia and I did get married in Bogota.
Great video guys. You mention the water where you are is not drinkable. I suppose that includes your pet? Do you have a video that focuses on the Pet Issue concerns? Thanks again.
@@GUITARTIME2024 I can report back now. I lived in Cambodia--a very hot country--for nine years. I never had an air-conditioner. I lived in an old building on the second floor, on the corner. I opened windows so that I would get a cross-breeze. I was comfortable. I rode a bicycle everywhere. It was simple living. I was happy.
@@rogermichaelwillis6425 I lived in Europe and air conditioning didn't exist due to the high price of electricity. We had table fans and wet towels in the summer. It was fine. AC is bad for your health and the environment.
Great review here, I’ve enjoyed finding your channel recently. We are starting to think retirement and what that looks like, your insight brings additional options to consider. We are your ages, but tiring of the corporate grind. We have done well saving, but want to be wise with decisions. Keep it up!
I enjoyed this video as it showed some properties and location to beaches. What was also critical was your experiences and tastes as they were reviewed and then later talking about the overall experience in Ecuador. It was very interesting. And J.P. I'm in Kansas lol Have a great day.
Hi guys! I’ve been watching you guys for a while. My lil family of three we are really thinking of moving to Ecuador. We are really interested in the last apt we saw the three bedrooms and three bathroom apt.
Well that new apartment on the beach is a far cry higher than some of the prices in Cuenca. I even saw a web site that said you can get apartments in the $300 dollar range. I guess that is a bait and switch deal. I guess I will have to stay with my no house payment in Nashville, TN. It would be nice to see another part of the world though.
These are higher end places that are close to the beach and fully furnished. You can find much cheaper places that aren't as nice or as close to the beach. $300 is doable for unfurnished homes, especially in Cuenca.
Thank you so much for this video and sharing your experiences in Ecuador! Could you please make a video of a visit to Ayangue!?! It’s so close to Olon and we’re thinking of moving there and would really appreciate your perspective.
@@AmeliaAndJP amelia and jay, if theses prices are aimed at wealthy equadorian, then it should not being vidioed for foriengers, who want to move some where that they can afford more decent prices.lots of foreign retires live on their small Social Security and small pensions..not every one works from internet..so if you trying to help and give information..do it fairly and realistically..thank you very much...☺
@@sholeh4334 From our perspective, these are affordable and in the price range for many expats. We paid $1800/month in Denver for a 1bed/1bath 800 sqft apartment. That didn't include the furniture or any utilities. These places include all the furniture, lenin's and utilities except for electricity. We will show more affordable places in a future video.
@@sethpawlik Never been to Denver but here in Seattle area an studio can be as expensive as $1000. So having a beach front apartment for $850 sounds a no brainer. Yes, I'm pretty sure you can find something in the range of $350 - $400 but not beach front and likely 4-5 blocks away from main amenities...All those things inflate the prices. I'll be buying a PentHouse in Cuenca and when is time to move on to Italy or Greece I want to keep it and rent it out so, I expect to get at least $1000 a month for it...
Not sure what people expect. In Tennessee (not an expensive state at all) you can easily pay $450 a month for a ROOM in someone's basement. I rent 6 months in Mexico and spend other 6 in states. Only $800 or so to be on a beach in vacation weather in a deluxe fully furnished and supplied with kitchenware apartment with a pool etc. and other amenities is a deal... try Florida... the Association fees are $600 month for your condo well off the beach. I'll try Olon for a few weeks when in Mexico next. Counts as me leaving Mexico for my visa. I do like Mexico as once there flights and deluxe bus travel isn't expensive and you can check out lots of places using Airbnb monthly rates.
We live outside Otavalo and I am needing some beach time. These look GREAT! We were coming to Olon right before the pandemic hit, with reservations at Rincon de Olon. Giles is a great guy and I assume a wonderful host. But these also look comfortable and a tad more private. We definitely will consider when we plan a vaca after Xmas.
People are complaining that they are gringo prices 🤣🤣 you kidding me right? I pay more for my one room that I rent..not a one bedroom apartment..just 1 room in the Bay area.... People want a lot for hardly anything.. Plus, this are really nice areas and security is important ...Specially when you are not in your own native country. I think the prices are great to be honest, specially coming from the crazy renting prices in The Bay... Thank you for all you guys do in bringing us great Content...it is Greatly appreciated
Thanks! We feel the same way! We were paying $1800/month + $50 for parking + $200 in utilities back in Denver for a 1 bed 1 bath 800 sqft condo. Needless To Say, we feel like our 3 bed 2 bath fully furnished condo with a yard and 3 blocks from the beach utilities included for $700 is a STEAL!!!
Sorry, I spoke too soon from watching your videos out of order! Thank you again for sharing - we're making our 2021 travel plans now, with the goal of deciding on our primary country in the next few years.
The prices are a lot lower than in US coastal condos. Plus you dońt need transportation because you are so close to the center of town. If you go a few blocks inland the prices go down. Those are luxury apartments fully furnished on the beach near the center of town.
Actually, your condo appeared nicer than the others. The large living room and that tile work next to the dining room table is interesting. The stove on that island is different. Usually, you want the stove next to a lot of counter space. From RUclips's street views, I was allowed to tour Olon, which obviously has some great beaches, and appears very family friendly.
Prices vary a great deal in Ecuador. Olon rates seem to be priced for the tourist trade. We live in Cuenca where friends of ours, living next door, enjoy a large (2300 sq ft) apartment with a huge terrace, 3 parking spaces, right on the Tomebomba river, 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, unfurnished. $450 a month for a 3 year lease.
There are cheaper places here, too, but most places are furnished since they cater to tourists. Unfurnished homes are a lot cheaper than furnished. And multi-year leases are also less expensive.
I love Ecuador and can't wait to get back there. I work in the floral industry and I do a lot of work with a flower broker there based in Quito. More and more I keep thinking of just moving there. Work would be so much easier in so many ways.
Thank you so much. Question? What are the requirements to bye and apt or a house And can you show us apt for sale thank you so so much, you guys are owesome.
The furnishings are quite nice, but the prices appear to be based on the expectation renters will be arriving at remote locations in Ecuador with monthly incomes in excess of $4000. That's an unusually high bar for most expats, higher than I've encountered in my ten years living abroad in different countries.
A couple can live here comfortably on less than $2K per month. We spend closer to $1500/month all in. Our rent is $700 because we don't have a view, we're not on the beach and we don't have any amenities. You can find nice places that aren't luxurious for under $500/month.
Will you folks be doing any other locations perhaps higher in elevation where it would not be as hot yet drivable to public beaches?? Also, the last and 1st units I liked.
We're planning to do a similar video in Cuenca on a return visit. We wanted to do one before we left, but we weren't able to coordinate schedules with our real estate agent.
Very nicely done. Finally, actual prices for long term rentals from actual real estate agents. Really great info for someone like myself. I'm a retired US Marine and completely fed up with the United States. Thanks guys! WB-USMC-Ret.
Beachfront living is much more expensive than somewhere like Vilcabamba or Loja where you dont need aircon or heat also the rents are much lower here than in Olon. Olon is brutally hot and muggy if your in to that. Vilcabamba has better weather than SanDiego California where I grewup and was raised.
Great video! Y'all have covered quite a few topics through your videos...would you be able to do one that talks about jobs for expats? Not web based but on the economy?
Thanks! I'm not sure that would be a very interesting video. It's hard to get a job here unless you're fluent in Spanish and even then, you'll be competing with native Spanish-speakers who are used to getting paid a lot less than us expats. Typical wages are $5 to $10 per hour unless you have a highly specialized skill set, like a doctor or geologist. We know some expats who teach English to kids, but they make about $10/hour. You can make better income teaching English to kids online in other countries, or from other online jobs.
Amelia And JP Hello, I'm in Canada and just stumbled across your channel today. I like Brandon's question, a video like that would suit me. I currently have a low income here (under 30K CAD) and not much for savings. A situation where cost of living was very cheap, and a job available for me, even if it was at a low rate as you've stated, would be fine if I matched my rent price to it. I can't see that I'd move with a job to sustain me that was anchored in Canada, such as an online job. Never say never, but it would definitely interest me to learn about potential job positions that I could get that would afford me a basic home. Thank you, looking forward to watching a lot more of your videos:)
Hi Again! My girlfriend and I are researching Costa Rica vs Ecuador for next winter. Any thoughts on pros and cons? We hope to spend a month in both places winter 2022. You guys are awesome.
Those prices surprised me. My house in Salinas is beachfront property, jacuzzi, pool, 3 large bedrooms, 1 médium bedrooms, storage or hired hand bedroom, huge social space, patio, stone grill in Salinas. Half furnished, beds and the main european classic wood dining table, 800 square meters. It was rented for $1300 month.... Feel cheated. I may need a new agent
Beautiful condos, BUT still too high the price for Ecuador!! Too high!! I spent half my life vacationing in the summers in Salinas and all those other smaller beach towns,.and I just never imagined seeing these crazy high prices in such a beloved areas where so many beautiful memories were created! It pains me. And now that I'm about to return to Ecuador, if I were to rent anywhere near the beach, it would mean paying almost the same that I currently pay for my apt in Forest Hills, New York!! Insane. But this problem was created by the very same ecuadorians, THAT I know!
Just started watching your vids yesterday, after expanding on potential options for an expat relo. We love both of you and your “up front” info share. I’m in tech sales and my wife is a tech support manager working remote here in San Diego. We are interested in learning more about why you picked that beach community with so many others. My wife has had a back fusion also along with being an asthmatic , so like you stated, the mountains are not an option for her. Olson looks great..also, please send us an intro for Debs List and when we can we are planning to visit . Can you also recommend a short stay place for about a week most likely? Thanks again..we’re still binge watching your videos...lol
That's great! We have a video about why we chose Olón: ruclips.net/video/lnOdJq0fTZE/видео.html Drop us a note through our contact form and I'll send an email intro to deb so she can add you to here list: ameliaandjp.com/contact/
I like your condo better then the ones you reviewed. Can't justify spending 40% more for a smaller place that kind of have a better view. I can spend the savings on trips and excursions.
It's always nice to "bracket" rental rates, so this I assume is the more upper end. Although not accessible perhaps, it would be nice to see the middle market and a sample of the lower market. I assume it spans $250 to $1200. Thanks.
These are actually the mid-range rentals. There are huge, beautiful beachfront homes with private pools and super nice finishes that rent for more than $2000/month. $250 is probably the bottom for a private residence. You can rent rooms for less in someone's house. We'll try to show the lower end rentals in a future video.
You mention that Electric is extra because of AC. What is the "typical" monthly AC cost? I know that can vary quite a bit, but is it $50, $100, $500 range? Love your channel.
@MyPantera28 and Others I too am admirer of Amelia&JP. But I also notice that this is NOT your normal A&JP Video - Clearly there is Deb and Co. Realtors and these properties are NEW and aimed at a certain foreigner market/client. A&JP say there is a small cut for them if you pick one of these and remember to mention the referral - So we have to bear all that in mind. People who build these condos are 'investors' - local or otherwise and need to use agents. Dealing with owner is normally out of question as some are suggesting. The investors move to build others, not deal with tenants. Owners with 1 or 2 houses/units dont mind direct tenant interaction. We have to wait for a PURE A&JP local pricing rentals. Amelia & JP - You are great as always!
We only filmed this video and the other low cost rental video because so many people requested them. These are the real prices that everyone gets quoted but they are negotiable.
Being an amateur chef, I would need a gas stove. It looks like all three places had electric stoves; correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks, and keep up the great videos.
We have a gas stove. Most of the newer places are induction as part of Ecuador's environmental initiatives. Nearly 90% of Ecuador's electricity is from renewable sources so they're pushing induction over gas.
These are luxury condos near to or on the beach. There are lower cost options away from the beach with fewer features in the under $400 range but the owners of those places typically don’t use agents to represent them so we don’t have anyone to show them to us. We’ll work on that for a future video 👍
@@aniwee17 it depends on how you define middle class. If the definition is based on average monthly wages across the entire population, then these are not affordable since the avg monthly wage is around $450. But if you define middle class as someone who works a white collar job or owns a small business, then these are affordable for middle class Ecuadorians and many own them as vacation homes and investment properties.
@@aniwee17 What is the median income in Ecuador? The median salary is 1,470 USD per month, which means that half (50%) of the population are earning less than 1,470 USD while the other half are earning more than 1,470 USD. The median represents the middle salary value.
L W According to Trading Economics, the Ecuador Gross Nominal Wages is projected to trend around 475 dollars a month in 2021 based on a long term analysis.
Thank you for all of the wonderful videos from Ecuador! Would you consider doing a video about the environment and compare it to the US? My biggest concern is bugs, allergies, wild animals, etc. Do you have Veterinary care in the area that you live? I love animals and the environment and curious about it all. Just to give you a bit of info I'm living in the U.S., Southern State with humidity. Thanks again
1st condo is great but too expensive. 2nd one is more affordable and nicer but no washer dryer. 3rd is for a family. We'd probably love to pay less evening we have a 10-15 minute walk.
Hi Amelia & JP. Love your videos. I'm a new subscriber. My wife and I live in Tequesta Florida and we thinking of moving out of the US till all these COVID things settle down. We're looking at housings in Saipan, that's where I'm from. I saw your video and I think Ecuador has a similar environment. The apartments are very nice, love the easy beach access too. My question is, did you guys ship your cars there or bought new ones?
We don’t own a car. Most expats don’t. Cabs and buses are really affordable. You can’t ship a car to Ecuador unless you’re a returning Ecuadorian citizen.
I wonder if it would you would be allowed to sign a lease on a larger place such as that 3 bedroom, and then look for a roommate to help with the cost ? In other words, have two individuals on the lease who were not related or not a couple in any way.

May I suggest...Once you think is time to leave Olón, your next destination should be Galápagos Islands.

Glad you like them!
In my experience, the best way to find an apartment in foreign lands is to get to know a taxi driver. They know what's up everywhere, and they can help to get you the local price or near the local price.
Great suggestion!
oh! thank you for that advice!👍🙋🏾♀️
That helped me in Baltimore when I first got there. He would drive down streets and say, "Whatever you do, don't rent here...or here.....or here..." So much for that city. 😯
Those drivers deserve a nice _tip !_ 💰´
That’s a very helpful suggestion one of which I had never thought. Thanks!
🎉 Another fantastic video! Congrats on the in-door plumbing!🍾 We’re still working on that here in the Ozarks! 😉
$1,100?! That’s the kind of rents we are trying to get out of.
$1100 a month for Ecuador seems pretty high to me.
I was thinking the same thing.
Agree, I can live where I am in the US for less than that
@@MispelledOnPurpose Might have been "high season" price, you know, like Mykonos and what have you, 5000 houses and 5 million tourists
For real

Full American retail Gringo pricing on display here.

These are not Ecuador prices they should be half that!
Wow... Your place IS the nicest... Beautiful cabinets and kitchen and floor...
Thanks SO much for all your absolutely great information and lovely video's.. 😊

Thanks for watching!
Great to see what the rental property market is like in Ecuador. The third one was my favourite as well.
Not impressed with those prices. These must be far less pricey rentals there.
There are many. I have lived here for for over four years, I have paid between $200 and $350 in Crucita and $350 and $450 here in Cuenca.
Yes, there are cheaper places under $500, but they're not on the beach and don't have the amenities. They also aren't represented by the agents who were kind enough to show us around.
@@AmeliaAndJP Yeah. I think it is the luxury and proximity to the beach (walking distance)
I know what you mean about laundry. Even if I hit the lottery, I'd do my own laundry. Just something about having other people touch my clothes. ..😬
oh my gosh! your comment! so true for me as well & made me laugh out loud!👍😄
@@DiandraStarShine OCD is a funny thing 😂✌😬
So much for things being cheap. Very expensive rents.
We made due with eating at low to mid range restaurants. ciao.
@@AmeliaAndJP do you habe any videos of more inexpensive apts? I think showing a range would be helpful. Similar to what youtubers do in Mexico.

Another great video in Olon!! Love the last apt, I will like to visit Ecuador next year Hopefully covid19 and. Thanks for your great job.
Can you show us places that an average middle class Ecuadorian can rent? Much appreciated.
Many of the rentals in this area are owned by middle class Ecuadorians. They use these condos as investments and vacation homes.
Just stumbled across you all today. Happy to have found your channel. My wife and I have visited Latin America off and on for years and often consider at least part-time ex-pat living. Thanks for sharing your experience!
you can find nice apartments 2 br 2 blocks from the beach for $400
Happy to know that Amelia’s birthday is just next to mine.
I am glad you are happy in Ecuador and I do plan to visit Ecuador. I have been in Colombia and am planning to relocate to Colombia when flights resume. Great video guys. You mention the water where you are is not drinkable. I suppose that includes your pet? Do you have a video that focuses on the Pet Issue concerns? Thanks again.

Whaaaaaat?
You want roaches too? Lol
@@GUITARTIME2024 I can report back now. I lived in Cambodia--a very hot country--for nine years. I never had an air-conditioner. I lived in an old building on the second floor, on the corner. I enjoyed this video as it showed some properties and location to beaches. What was also critical was your experiences and tastes as they were reviewed and then later talking about the overall experience in Ecuador. It was very interesting. And J.P. I'm in Kansas lol Have a great day.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Gringo prices. It would be interesting to see what they charge Ecuadorians for the same unit.
The rates are the same for Ecuadorians. These are higher end units. You can find cheaper places that aren't as nice or as close to the beach.
Guys. If I want to rent for 2 weeks or less than a month. Is it a locked fee? Or these are rentals for a year lease. Thanks .
Lol I think you mean to say American prices. Also paying Americans that are advertising these places.
Good place but a little too high price for a Country like Ecuador. Others South American country’s are much cheaper for housing rentals.
It's the same price for Ecuadorians
Feliz Cumpleanos Amelia! Un ano maz, pero estas igual de bella y adorable! Que tengas muchos muchos maz!
Hi guys! I’ve been watching you guys for a while. My lil family of three we are really thinking of moving to Ecuador. We are really interested in the last apt we saw the three bedrooms and three bathroom apt.
Great! You can contact Gabriela and Deb through their website: www.ecuadorcoastproperties.com/
There are beautiful condos down there in Olon. It's good to know
Sorry to say,but very inflated ,expensive..theses prices are not real prices.has been aimed at foriengers...

@@AmeliaAndJP $1800/month in Denver for a 1bed/1bath 800 sqft apartment? WOW That sounds like San Francisco prices.
Great vid. Any news on the 14 day quarantine. Prob going to keep it going.
Hey I wouldn't drink the tap water in the states.
They still haven't lifted the quarantine yet. No idea when that will happen.
Thank you.
I know. KS and CO have toxic water.
I read about velacumbra, in Ecuador about 4000' up. Great for longevity. They drink glacial water and eat very little meat.. Dark hair at 100+.
Oooo baby....Gabriela is a dream.
More expensive, but some of these places are great!
Yours rocks IMO - it has better feel...you don't move to a complex for a pool when the beach is right there.
Olon is my favorite place in the World! And btw those are great deals for apartaments by the beach
Rent in Guayaquil is more expensive
Thank you both for the info. Looks great.
i left mainland also because of basically same reason and with what went on with virus was i ever so grateful
Happy Belated Birthday Amelia!
Like Loja or Villcabama?
Ann Oxley ..... yes
Very nicely done.
Finally, actual prices for long term rentals from actual real estate agents.

Thanks for the video, you guys are awesome. Stay safe.
Love your apartment. It is beautiful and reasonable. Blessings
Belated Happy Birthday Amelia😎
Hi Again! My girlfriend and I are researching Costa Rica vs Ecuador for next winter. Any thoughts on pros and cons? We hope to spend a month in both places winter 2022. You guys are awesome.
We haven't been to Costa Rica so we don't have much input. We have heard it's become more expensive.
Great video, Ecuador is looking better then Costa Rica or even Panama,
Those prices surprised me.
I like your condo better then the ones you reviewed. Can't justify spending 40% more for a smaller place that kind of have a better view. I can spend the savings on trips and excursions.
Thank u for this information will definitely consider these places when I go over there
It's always nice to "bracket" rental rates, so this I assume is the more upper end.
We've been spending around $60/month.
Thank you for sharing....
Can an American purchase housing land or condominiums for rentals and how do I get a hold of the realtor
@MyPantera28 and Others
I too am admirer of Amelia&JP.
Cool. Looks like an awesome place to live.
Thanks for the video. Seems like the rental rates for the properties shown are awfully high. I like your place the best.
I live on social security, so these would be really out of my budget.
These are luxury condos near to or on the beach. There are lower cost options away from the beach with fewer features in the under $400 range but the owners of those places typically don’t use agents to represent them so we don’t have anyone to show them to us. We’ll work on that for a future video 👍
I feel the rent price shown is above an average middle class Ecuadorian’s salary.

Amelia... your hair looks great.
I wonder if it would you would be allowed to sign a lease on a larger place such as that 3 bedroom, and then look for a roommate to help with the cost ? In other words, have two individuals on the lease who were not related or not a couple in any way.
I think you can do that. We know of other expats that have rented with a roommate.
I've looked into Costa Rica and Ecuador. Ecuador looks very poor. You guys are changing my mind
