I would love to see some form of "NoLakitu" specialty category for speedrunning best lap times. Seems like there's a lot of potential for creative and fascinating ways to break a good amount of the courses that I'd be super interested in seeing
It’s only possible because he took off the lap checkpoints in the games code, just a noNakitu speedrun would make it so when you reach the end it doesn’t count as a lap
And if they did remove checkpoints too itd be too easy to cheese by just circling the finish line.. but i think the biggest problem is a lot of these, coconut mall especially, are only possible because theyre modded maps that add terrain to the scenery and i think thats too much to ask for a speedrunning category

What this really is is showcasing how racing games are meant to be played; this is why I like Distance so much, it knew this fact from the very beginning, and you even have a car that enables you to do all sorts of crazy skips once you develop proper skills at how to control it. I've yet to come across a better racing game
Honestly, 300cc should be unlocked after you get all the golds and if you win all *those* cups you get rainbow mario with the same as the gold one stats
