Great review, I can see you put a tremendous time into it, however in 29:37, the "Turn off pen detection" is for when you have another S Pen that you want to use with your Galaxy Note. When you uncheck this, your stylus digitizer turns off when the S Pen is inserted. If you check this, the stylus digitizer remains active for other S Pens. The setting you're talking about is right above called "S Pen alerts"

It's 2023 and I'm watching this video on my Galaxy Note 4. The only issue I had with this phone was the battery going out on me and was solved with a simple aftermarket swap. Its such a good phone working strong and fast to this day.
I love the little noise Samsung makes when you tap on something. One of the reasons I'm going back to android is for that sound. LOL just ordered my sprint Samsung galaxy note for great condition for $179.
I'm late but...I have been Apple User my whole Life and now I see this beautiful Note 4. If Apple doesn't upgrade there iPhone6, I'm getting this beautiful Note 4. Apple Sucks. Glad someone likes the Note 4.

I jumped off the Note train at the Note2. Still love it and use it in the living room as a remote for the TV, Chromecasting and quick web searches. The OneplusOne is my current phone of choice. I will head into the store and check out the LG soon.

Features lots of them. The phones Quad HD display Super AMOLED display. There's no way you can see how beautiful it is until you see in person. That is my only reason to get the phone but it comes with many more options. Sonys 16MP sensor is just amazing. 1080p 60fps smooth motion still blows my mind every time I take smooth video. The thing comes with an IR blaster, meaning you can control your TV, cable box, DVD/Blue-ray player. The design is awesome too, it has metal in the sides,for better grip and feel yet soft rubbery texture for grip. The phone feels amazing on the hand and for the size it won't slip from your hands. Air view, many people don't pay much attention to such features including the S-pen however when take time to acknowledge how everything works it just amazes you. If you work out, It has the heart rate sensor, it also measures the levels of Co2 in the blood, and the levels of stress. How many steps you take and distance you run/walk during the day. The phone packs a lot of features that it never gets boring or dull like IOS. This is coming from someone that used to own an iPhone 5. I current own an iPad Air, iMac and a MacBook Air. I like apple a lot however the iPhone lost its touch mainly in Software. Plus everyone seem to have an iPhone now days I find that boring with no wow factor or anything to talk about. I now have the note 4 and your have to see it and play around with it in order to know if it's right for you.

The frame on the note 4 is not plastic anymore compared to the s5. The back is still plastic but for me it doesn't feel like plastic. It's a soft touch

Mark Smith It's not worth getting. I've seen reviews where people can't really hold it they way you would normally hold a phone simply because of that edge, it gets in the way and you end up triggering things you didn't mean to trigger, and plus the edge doesn't really do all that much, but I love the Note 4, I'm currently waiting for the holidays for it to go on sale so I can buy it, it'll be a great upgrade from my crappy Blackberry knock off right now.
The note was my best phone I ever owned. I have them iPhone 6 plus and just per ordered two the note 4 can't wait. The best is now better. I played with the note 4 and edge both are very nice.
Mohamed Abdourahman all you have to do is get the phone on edge pay monthly and put a dummy phone or test device on the edge line(which if you have a family share lone they will only charge $10 a month) and move the phone to your main line.
This phone is so good, thought about getting the iPhone 6+ but this is far more advance and powerful. Its not just a bigger S5 with optical image stabilization, its way more.

Personally I love this phone. I got it several weeks back. People commenting on the lag are seriously over exaggerating or need to clean their phones. It's awesome. I highly recommend it.
Ryan Origin It's really good. It really does reflect the 3220 mAh labeled on it. I sometimes charge it only once during 48 hours and that's just a ~45min charge with the fast charging enabled. I don't think any other phones out there can equal it...

I love it when they compare benchmarks. Like I'm going to be running benchmarks all day. If it runs multiple apps, without lag, who gives a damn what the benchmarks say? If the iPhone ran 5x the speed of the Note 4, but Note 4 ran all my apps without lag, in multiple windows, what's the difference? All these flagships have ample headroom. ***** Not really. I'll be the first to admit Google cuts too many optimization corners in their attempt to be open source. Which is why better specs matter on androids. iOS is extremely smooth and streamline, but limited because of this factor. There's nothing wrong with iPhones, they target a different audience. However, pretending that a VERY subpar screen is great, is insulting. Apple drops the ball every year with their screens to hold up the bullshit "326 ppi" rule that they made up out of thin air. Apple doesn't invent or innovate, they take other ideas and add some spice, while claiming the glory.
***** 1. Retina display means nothing. It's Jobs referring to the 326ppi with a fancy word, as Apple always does. 2. The 6 Plus screen is subpar for what we're looking at today. Contrast ratio of 1300:1? The iPhone 5s fucking contrast ratio was that, but yet the brightness and colour contour is shit enough to still make blacks ugly. I hate the oversaturation of Samsung panels, but amoled is the way to go. 3. I wasn't directly talking about display features. Go look up TekSyndicate's video on "Did apple really invent anything?" and it basically explains everything. They do no innovation or invention, and simply go "hey, this is a good idea. Let's tweak it and then sue them for having our idea!" And samsung doesn't just add more pixels. Had this phone for just over 2 months and what it reminds me of its an older android that is slow and lags. Sometimes it does this thing to where the screen goes black, then comes on when I push the home button only to go off again without letting me in with the finger print scanner. Only after a battery pull can I get going again. The multi screen feature while cool doesn't really give you any benefit. Using the recent apps feature is better except for the button that brings it up rarely registers you touch the first time. What do I like about the phone? The screen size and S-pen. This is my first Samsung since the Samsung moment device that was horrible, since then I've had nothing but htc's. I'm hoping that the lollipop update fixes a lot, if not I know that htc will have a great device, that will work.... All the time.

I disagree, while the regular 6 is a very good phone, the 6 Plus heads more into the 'phablet' category, and here it's really in its infancy. Samsung has been in this category for 4 years now and I feel they have it down-packed. The 6 Plus does not take much advantage of its large screen, really only depending on third party developers to make their apps well optimised for the 6 Plus. While this is good, with this real estate so much more can be done, especially when you look at the multitasking possibilities (just browse around for Note 4 multitasking videos and you'll see what I mean). I remember Apple paying out the lack of app optimisation on 7" tablets, and the irony now is that Apple have fallen victim to this themselves with their entire OS on the 6 Plus. The Note 4 has a far more solid and comfortable design than the 6 Plus, and it still looks quite premium now that they've ditched that shitty plastic. And from experience I can tell you that the AMOLED display on the Note 3 is far better than the 6 Plus in all aspects (except viewing angles where they're about equal), so the Note 4 screen will be sharper and better looking than that of the 6 Plus. The Stylus on the Note 4 boasts some extremely useful and convenient features, even if you're not big on styluses you will find some ways that it adds convenience. And the Note 3 camera was about equal to (but sharper and more detailed than) the 5S camera from experience, so I would expect the same with the 6 Plus and Note 4 cameras. Also the Note 4 will be cheaper unlocked and offers a plethora of featured compared to the iPhone.

You are a moron, one of the main reason I buy the Note series is because of the stylus. I pretty much use it 70 percent of the time. Using the Stylus leaves less fingerprints on the screen.

Mark Smith It's not worth getting. I've seen reviews where people can't really hold it they way you would normally hold a phone simply because of that edge, it gets in the way and you end up triggering things you didn't mean to trigger, and plus the edge doesn't really do all that much, but I love the Note 4, I'm currently waiting for the holidays for it to go on sale so I can buy it, it'll be a great upgrade from my crappy Blackberry knock off right now.

The note was my best phone I ever owned. I have them iPhone 6 plus and just per ordered two the note 4 can't wait. The best is now better. I played with the note 4 and edge both are very nice.

Mohamed Abdourahman all you have to do is get the phone on edge pay monthly and put a dummy phone or test device on the edge line(which if you have a family share lone they will only charge $10 a month) and move the phone to your main line.

This phone is so good, thought about getting the iPhone 6+ but this is far more advance and powerful. Its not just a bigger S5 with optical image stabilization, its way more.

Personally I love this phone. I got it several weeks back. People commenting on the lag are seriously over exaggerating or need to clean their phones. It's awesome. I highly recommend it.

Ryan Origin It's really good. It really does reflect the 3220 mAh labeled on it. I sometimes charge it only once during 48 hours and that's just a ~45min charge with the fast charging enabled. I don't think any other phones out there can equal it...

I would go for the S6 I have it and a family member has the Note 4. For your use, S6 and it has other useful features as well.

I love it when they compare benchmarks. Like I'm going to be running benchmarks all day. If it runs multiple apps, without lag, who gives a damn what the benchmarks say? If the iPhone ran 5x the speed of the Note 4, but Note 4 ran all my apps without lag, in multiple windows, what's the difference? All these flagships have ample headroom. It all depends on which ecosystem you've committed your money to, purchasing apps. Bash away, fanboiz.

I'll be the first to admit Google cuts too many optimization corners in their attempt to be open source. Which is why better specs matter on androids.
iOS is extremely smooth and streamline, but limited because of this factor. There's nothing wrong with iPhones, they target a different audience. However, pretending that a VERY subpar screen is great, is insulting.
Apple drops the ball every year with their screens to hold up the bullshit "326 ppi" rule that they made up out of thin air. Apple doesn't invent or innovate, they take other ideas and add some spice, while claiming the glory.
***** 1. Retina display means nothing. It's Jobs referring to the 326ppi with a fancy word, as Apple always does.
2. The 6 Plus screen is subpar for what we're looking at today. Contrast ratio of 1300:1? The iPhone 5s fucking contrast ratio was that, but yet the brightness and colour contour is shit enough to still make blacks ugly. I hate the oversaturation of Samsung panels, but amoled is the way to go.
3. I wasn't directly talking about display features. Go look up TekSyndicate's video on "Did apple really invent anything?" and it basically explains everything. They do no innovation or invention, and simply go "hey, this is a good idea. Let's tweak it and then sue them for having our idea!" And samsung doesn't just add more pixels. If they did away with the god damn disgusting saturation, they'd have far and away the best panels on any device ever.

Samsung at least tries new things, they're the leaders in oled technology, they're using their own chipsets now, etc etc. Believe me I dislike Samsung, but not as much as Apple. I don't hate on iPhone because it's an iPhone, but it simply isn't as good as everyone claims. Slap a Samsung logo on an iPhone and it would be laughed away. Apple (just like Beats, which they bought, a match made in heaven) runs off brand name alone nowadays. They can coast on past achievements and the American population will eat it up without a 2nd thought. There's a reason iPhones make up such a small market in European and Asian markets. Their price to value ratio is way out of wack.
The note 5 will be out when my contract ends on my Galaxy S4 so I'm going to wait for that beast

Had this phone for just over 2 months and what it reminds me of its an older android that is slow and lags. Sometimes it does this thing to where the screen goes black, then comes on when I push the home button only to go off again without letting me in with the finger print scanner. Only after a battery pull can I get going again. The multi screen feature while cool doesn't really give you any benefit. Using the recent apps feature is better except for the button that brings it up rarely registers you touch the first time. What do I like about the phone? The screen size and S-pen. This is my first Samsung since the Samsung moment device that was horrible, since then I've had nothing but htc's. I'm hoping that the lollipop update fixes a lot, if not I know that htc will have a great device, that will work.... All the time.

this is Samsung's attempt to save themselves from the plummet in profits last quarter mainly because other companies are providing better products than samsung for Android devices, and other phones.

I disagree, while the regular 6 is a very good phone, the 6 Plus heads more into the 'phablet' category, and here it's really in its infancy. Samsung has been in this category for 4 years now and I feel they have it down-packed. The 6 Plus does not take much advantage of its large screen, really only depending on third party developers to make their apps well optimised for the 6 Plus. While this is good, with this real estate so much more can be done, especially when you look at the multitasking possibilities (just browse around for Note 4 multitasking videos and you'll see what I mean). I remember Apple paying out the lack of app optimisation on 7" tablets, and the irony now is that Apple have fallen victim to this themselves with their entire OS on the 6 Plus. The Note 4 has a far more solid and comfortable design than the 6 Plus, and it still looks quite premium now that they've ditched that shitty plastic. And from experience I can tell you that the AMOLED display on the Note 3 is far better than the 6 Plus in all aspects (except viewing angles where they're about equal), so the Note 4 screen will be sharper and better looking than that of the 6 Plus. The Stylus on the Note 4 boasts some extremely useful and convenient features, even if you're not big on styluses you will find some ways that it adds convenience. And the Note 3 camera was about equal to (but sharper and more detailed than) the 5S camera from experience, so I would expect the same with the 6 Plus and Note 4 cameras. Also the Note 4 will be cheaper unlocked and offers a plethora of featured compared to the iPhone.

You are a moron, one of the main reason I buy the Note series is because of the stylus. I pretty much use it 70 percent of the time. Using the Stylus leaves less fingerprints on the screen.
This makes me excited for the Galaxy S6. I'm glad Samsung is getting more metal and not plastic.
