Hard to believe how full of features this phone was back in 2014. Even if It's a flagship, no other flagships had catched up on them in 2014. 4K recording, fingerprint scanner, heart rate sensor, detachable battery, multi USB support, plastic build, peak of innovation. The value was amazing for It's time, not to mention their 2015-2017 A series era. Goated.
Just wanted to say thank you for this complete walkthrough...I just got the s5, and it's actually my first smartphone (always used prepaid slider phone previously). So as someone who's never used a smartphone, and just got my first android tablet as well, getting started was pretty intimidating. Fantastic review, long but very helpful. I got the S5 two days ago, and so I used this as like a guide to the phone's capabilities since I have an iPhone 5 that I used and have had iPhones for a while now.
to be honest, I still miss my iphone 5's simplicity, and am gonna get the iphone 6 or w.e it is when it comes out this fall, and give this s5 to my dad I think. The S5 is probably a better choice over the iPhone 5 at this point because its newer and more powerful, but im so used to iOS and im a huge gamer too, so on top of all my data being synced with my apple devices, I love the timed exclusives apple gets on it's app store in terms of new games. If you're interested in buying android or switching to android, then you'll like the s5. If you've been set on apple for so long, might as well stay. Just go in a store and hold an s5 though and see how you like the feel and stuff.

It has everything you need. the fingerprint scanner is made for certain people for some it just isn't it and people like me really love the fingerprint sensor. imo better than the s6 s7 s8 one. still a ir blaster wich can come in really handy.

If I were you I would buy the Samsung S5. It's a nice size screen plus you can replace the battery where as the iphones you can't and the samsung phone baterry lasts a little longer. When making a decision like this, I would first factor in the ecosystem. Can you give up iOS and the included services like iTunes, iMessage, Facetime, etc.? I've found this to be the major reason I stay with iPhone, but for others they are not as invested and go move to any phone.
Bilaal Raja For me killer features are iMessage and FaceTime (among others) because my family uses iPhones. Are you dependent on those services? How about iTunes media? For the most part, you can move everything over to Google, including music (not movies), and there are equivalent apps like Hangouts...but none of it works as well as the fully integrated features in iOS.

Back when samsung phones were kinda laughable with plastic materials, lots of bloatware and a not so good launcher. Because of that I was an Apple fanboy. Now I'm using a S10e for 2 years straight and it's one of the best phones I've ever had.
I had an S5 for about a year and a half. It's camera is pretty good, not as good as this year's flagships or anything , but it gets the job done. and it supports 4k. the processor honestly isn't very great and only 2 gbs of ram doesn't help. but it'll still play the latest games decently if you don't mind it heating up. It got the marshmallow update, so it's still relevant on software. If you are considering an s6 or an s5, you should really look at the s5. it has some features like water proofing and sd card support that the s6 does not have, and it's cheaper. I don't think it's a viable opponent to anything newer than the s7 if budget isn't an issue for you. also, the Note 4 might be something to take a look at if you like this phone, it's got more ram and is more powerful, with a bigger screen and the same design overall.

He said that the CHARGER is USB 2.0, but the port on the phone is USB 3.0 That doesn't meant that it doesn't support USB 2.0 it means that it'll be slower and Samsung did a weird thing they could've went with a USB 3.0 charger in the box but instead the charger that it comes with it USB 2.0 I hope that clears something up because seriously you need better listening skills bro
Ive been using the white S5 from att for a few months now. Great device and I even enabled adoptable storage. Bought it used on craigslist for $50, unlocked it to use on any carrier, put in my 128gb sd card and im happy. the glass thats on the camera (not the actual camera lense) is chipped and scratched up but it can easily be replaced. device runs very smooth and runs everything i install on it. best device ive used in awhile. now if only i can root it so can flash a 7.0 rom. previous owner had it rooted and before selling he upgraded to 6.0.1 and as far as i know the g900a cant be rooted after upgrading to mm

I'm willing to let go of my Note 3 for the S5 mainly for the ff. features: 1. IP67 dust + water resistance 2. Finger scanner/fingerprint security (with PayPal access) 3. Ultra power saving mode [As of this posting, the Note 4/Note Edge have been officially announced already last week, as well as the iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus this week. Back when samsung phones were kinda laughable with plastic materials, lots of bloatware and a not so good launcher. Because of that I was an Apple fanboy. Now I'm using a S10e for 2 years straight and it's one of the best phones I've ever had.

this is gonna scare you, but I'm watching this on my s5 I've had since 2016, amazing phone
I had an S5 for about a year and a half. It's camera is pretty good, not as good as this year's flagships or anything , but it gets the job done. and it supports 4k. the processor honestly isn't very great and only 2 gbs of ram doesn't help. but it'll still play the latest games decently if you don't mind it heating up. It got the marshmallow update, so it's still relevant on software. If you are considering an s6 or an s5, you should really look at the s5. it has some features like water proofing and sd card support that the s6 does not have, and it's cheaper. I don't think it's a viable opponent to anything newer than the s7 if budget isn't an issue for you. also, the Note 4 might be something to take a look at if you like this phone, it's got more ram and is more powerful, with a bigger screen and the same design overall.

He said that the CHARGER is USB 2.0, but the port on the phone is USB 3.0 That doesn't meant that it doesn't support USB 2.0 it means that it'll be slower and Samsung did a weird thing they could've went with a USB 3.0 charger in the box but instead the charger that it comes with it USB 2.0 I hope that clears something up because seriously you need better listening skills bro
If it supports USB 3 it will support all USB versions under it

Ive been using the white S5 from att for a few months now. Great device and I even enabled adoptable storage. Bought it used on craigslist for $50, unlocked it to use on any carrier, put in my 128gb sd card and im happy. the glass thats on the camera (not the actual camera lense) is chipped and scratched up but it can easily be replaced. device runs very smooth and runs everything i install on it. best device ive used in awhile. now if only i can root it so can flash a 7.0 rom. previous owner had it rooted and before selling he upgraded to 6.0.1 and as far as i know the g900a cant be rooted after upgrading to mm

I'm still thinking of getting this Samsung Galaxy S5. In particular, I'm eyeing at the 32GB dual-SIM. I found it already here in a nearby (official) Samsung store in Doha, Qatar (where I'm working - I'm from Manila, Philippines by the way). I'm willing to let go of my Note 3 for the S5 mainly for the ff. features:
1. IP67 dust + water resistance
2. Finger scanner/fingerprint security (with PayPal access)
3. Ultra power saving mode
[As of this posting, the Note 4/Note Edge have been officially announced already last week, as well as the iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus this week. Yet still, I'm leaning on the S5, especially as we expect the prices to go down.]
