    To the people who think there's some conspiracy because I ranked BRB 1 super high... With all due respect, don't even start. I very eloquently explain my reasonings in my video, and like every one of my videos, it ultimately comes down to personal preference. What you liked to death, I may find just okay. And you have to live with that.
    The fact that some people really think there are ulterior motives is insane. Because you can't fathom that there's just a dude on the internet who likes a fight you don't. It's a childish mindset and I won't tolerate it.

      Not on my top bosses but I actually could understand what the fight wanted from me. If you deal with the little ones before taking the big guy down, it's not that anoying. Also the hook arm and some throuables makes the fight a lot more manageable, we must use everything at our disposal to dispatch a boss, no just enter the fight and say "I'm the sekiro shadows die twice" and try to parry everything when we don't have an idea of the timing. Good fight, just takes you out of your comfort zone.

    You probably already know this but a fun fact about the Nameless Puppet is that, he is made from Carlo's old dead body. Meaning Carlo is fighting his "human" self, even though it is a nameless puppet, and in the second phase awakened his Ego
    His ego was described as pure hatred, the only emotion he ever felt in his short time of self awareness was sheer rage because I believe, there was a bit of Carlo still in the Nameless Puppet, one angry at what his father had done to him, and aimed to kill what he is now by destroying Carlo's heart
    Fumny how the human body of Carlo is more like the mad cruel puppets we meet throughout Krat whereas his puppet self is far more human.
    That's my little rant over, i just already adore this game

    I think the reason that people have a bad opinion on the BRB fights is that in other souls games most gank fights are designed poorly. Plus I think Elden Ring had to many gank fights or duo fights, so I could see anyone hating gank fights if they started with Elden Ring as their first souls game. Ganks are usually unbalanced, and are too difficult or to easy and that has put people off of them entirely. I enjoy the gank fights in souls games and I think BRB 1 is one of the best ever done, along with Shadows of Yharnam, O&S, and Demon Prince 1st phase. I think it's the ton of experience I have doing pvp in Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne in the past that makes me like gank fights, since ganks are similar to facing multiple attackers in PvP.

    • @HienNguyen-bi4xv
      @HienNguyen-bi4xv 9 месяцев назад

      I think it would be better if BRB wasnt a gank fight with NPC. Sometimes they can be annoyed. It feels like you arent fighting multiple bosses, but a main boss and some annoying enemies. Might be better if those youngers were like some elite enemies like shadow of yharnam. And maybe add some obstacles so you can use them to isolate like O&S, instead of circling around all the time. But it is still a solid fight, I personally enjoy it more than manus and andreus

    • @dificulttocure
      @dificulttocure 10 месяцев назад +5

      For me, Romeo was the hardest boss in the game. But also because he's such a great teacher. He reminds me of Genichiro in Sekiro. It's not that he's super hard but you don't really need to have a solid grasp on the game's mechanics up to the moment you meet him, but you do in order to defeat him. So when you reach Laxasia, Simon or the Nameless Puppet, it's not that those bosses are objectively easier, they are not, but you are a far better player when you reach them than when you face Romeo, and that makes those fights easier. That was my experience at least.

    • @jakubpuawski3875
      @jakubpuawski3875 10 месяцев назад +1

      I think this will depend a lot on the build, I struggled with everything up to Swamp Monster a lot, especially King of Puppets, but the lategame was a breeze. Laxasia, Manus and Nameless Puppet COMBINED took me 1/3 of the time of the time I needed to beat pre-nerf KoP (30 mins each vs 4,5hrs for KoP).
      That's because I was dumb enough to run 2-damage-stat build on my first playthrough, motivity + advance, meaning I was constantly starved for stats, but once I reached endgame I had massive damage output and could mix and match elemental weapons for each boss (unfortunately, good elemental weapons are pretty late in the game).

    Simon Manus hitboxes are weird because his arm has a different hit box from his weapon, and since the mace kind of drags behind you have to deflect/dodge the arm earlier if youre that close. I found it easier to back off a little as he started to attack cause i think the mace is a bit easier to time.
    Also the knockback on perfect guard is one of my favorite things about this game as it incentivizes you to dodge, I think the combat is at its best when you're weaving in both parries and dodges and I like that perfect guard isnt always the best option. Its so satisfying to perfect guard the first few hits of Nameless combos and then dodge the last one for a big punish.

    • @BillySYT
      @BillySYT  10 месяцев назад

      The issue with the knockback though is that for certain bosses, it feels like ALL their moves cause knockback, and then we get a Champion Victor situation where you only ever dodge.

    • @DemonLordSparda
      @DemonLordSparda 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@BillySYT I mostly block or parry Victor. I find most of his attacks easy to deflect which builds up his stagger super quickly. I don't dodge very much unless I want to change my angle relative to the boss, or I'm dodging inward to get close enough to counter. High Motivity builds work best for that because of their high Guard Reduction if you miss a parry, and their high guard regain to get back the lost block health in one or two hits. Everyone plays differently, but I love mostly standing my ground and only moving when the boss forces me to. I learned a lot in my 4 playthroughs on my journey to fully unlock the P Organ.

    A small comment on Laxasia's grab. It's actually entirely predictable if she'll do one or three. She only ever does the three repeated grabs if she precedes it with that emote where she holds her blade out to you; she'll also *always* do three in this case. If she doesn't do the emote with her sword, it's only ever one grab. Additionally, you can also just straight-up block her grab, which makes it a lot less intimidating.

  • @piterrospl9512

    Addon to my previous comment - regarding whether I prefer Laxasia or Watchman. I just learned that you can actually go straight into second phase if you manage to break her weapon. This is such an insanely cool detail, and funnily, it means that you can actually beat Laxasia without attacking at all (through breaking weapon in the first phase and parrying lightning in second).
    Honestly, while I like NP a lot too (including the atmosphere, music and fight itself), Laxasia is now above for me. Though, the first four (for me now NP, Laxasia, Eldest of the BRB and Romeo) are all such amazing fights, it's a very close ranking for me and each of these has their own big strengths that make them deserve praise.

  • @xiphi7138

    What I love with seeing rankings of other people is how the appreciation of some bosses vary so much based on the playstyle of differents players. I think you can't always say a boss is objectively bad or good without having bias, so I found personal rankings really funs for that !
    My top 3 favorites boss fights of the game are the Nameless Puppet, Romeo and the Swamp Monster (his french name sounds really ridiculous too)
    Nameless Puppet and Romeo both mechanically, design-wise and story-telling wise (the fact that NP upper half is probably Carlo dead body is so fucked up I love it), and the Monster because of how his moves are telegraphed and his perfect design, he just clicks with me. I don't really struggle with his rush attack because of my builds, I always have the P-Organ upgrade for cancel some combos with a perfect parry, or sometimes Aegis really helps me. I think my appreciation of the fight would drop if I play with another build, but I just enjoy this fight too much for doing that. I just really like this guy
    I used to love Laxasia, and even if I really like her, sometimes she punished me so much for nothing in other runs. Still really satisfying to perfect parry her lightning attacks !

    i did not expect brotherhood to be that high and i could not disagree more with that ranking in a million years but i respect your opinion. my favorite is nameless puppet, veeeery closely followed by king of puppets. those two along with laxasia and scrapped watchmen are some of my favorite bosses in any souls like, from soft games included. also, fuoco is probably my least favorite boss in the entire game. his aoe is fucking stupid because he can destroy the pipes and his gun spam is beyond annoying. but anyway i cannot fucking wait for what they do with the dlc and sequel. i adore this game, i just got the platinum and i still can't stop playing it

    Laxasia is the most fun to get down cause like Billy she was the hardest boss for me and took 25 tries. Practice parrying all of her attacks in the first phase to break her sword. When her sword is broken it goes automatic to second phase. Practicing her second phase is the only way to get her down and then she becomes extremely enjoyable. Also Simon Manus' hit boxes seem of. during his swings, because depending on how close you are, you can get hit by his elbow, the bone is sticking out of his elbow. If your close to him his elbow is going to hit you sooner than his hammer. I noticed on my 4th playthrough. Also, Romeo and Laxasia are S tier fights imo.

    • @Eo-ms3kw
      @Eo-ms3kw 10 месяцев назад

      I beat her without really practicing the second phase which is probably why I don't like her that much. On my first playthrough I don't even remember much about the second phase, I think I just stat-checked her. On my Ng+ and Ng Advance playthrough I just threw every consumable I had at her. Ended up never learning her second phase moveset. I feel similar about her as I do about Malenia. Never mastered either of them just beat my head against the wall until it broke because I got a lucky attempt. It broke a lot easier against Laxasia tho.

    • @jrobb2118
      @jrobb2118 10 месяцев назад

      @@Eo-ms3kw I also didn't get Laxasia down at first. She just took me so many tries compared to all other bosses. No other boss took me more than a handful of times. After 4 playthroughs, I pretty much have the bosses completely figured out and she was still the toughest for me to get down moveset wise and also the most enjoyable for me along with Romeo.

    I wished they would’ve made the bishop a bit more dynamic. In all of my fights against him the small side attacks a few times, walks over me and then leaves me with the big side for the rest of the fight even tho I ran around it. They should’ve made it that the focus constantly switches between the sides using said walking attack. And of course improving the small side which isn’t that great to begin with.
    When it comes to the bunnies I like the boss but man that placement is nothing but insane lmao. Great ranking tho. I feel like except that part it’s one of the rankings of RUclips I agree with the most. The concept of a gank you as the player can regulate is brilliant but for me especially the eldest doesn’t feel that clean. His moves are a bit too fast for being the big one in the group. As I’m watching both parts i see that a lot of the time you find issue to perfect guards, I find it the opposite namely when fighting fuoco and I think it’s due to the build and personal preference to fighting. Personally I stuck with balanced sword from the beginning when fighting him and perfect guarding gave me insane counters and three stager attacks, my only complaint being the new range attack during second phase. Although I only made it to the first black rabbit brotherhood as I reset my play through for a refresh after a hefty break for the game, coming back to this boss specifically taught me the utility of perfect guard since before I brute forced the bosses with specter not knowing any better and getting stuck at fuoco months prior at the time of taking my break from the game thinking that fuoco was just impossible to beat, I see your perspective on the boss though and I agree to some parts on it being better to dodge the charge attack when he runs. Overall great list and I hope lies of p can make a dlc or second part to the game and see your thoughts on it in the future.

    not sure if I'd but BRB THIS high, but I agree with the general sentiment - the 2nd encounter is easily the worst fight in the game, but the first one is likely the best gank fight I've ever faced. I'm in the minority that doesn't really enjoy Orenstein & Smogh due to how passive this fight forces you to be, running around and waiting for your opening (unless you have godlike skills). BRB fixes this issue by balancing the aggro, you can just focus the NPCs and only listen for audio cue on the charge
    I think I've mentioned it in my comment under the previous video, but the key difference between the 2 BRB fights is pacing - in the second one, you first have to beat all 3 NPCs, which is incredibly tedious (actually made me think of new Lord of the Fallen, lol). In the first fight, everything is intertwined, making it a thrilling battle from start to finish.

    My favorite boss (and honestly one of my favorites of all time) is laxasia. She is one of the few examples imo of quality of moveset and spectacle. Her first phase is predictable but she can punish you if you get too greedy. The fact that you can break her sword and shield that affects phase two is a cool touch as well. And her second phase is so much fun, it feels like a true dance between warriors of tremendous power and skill. The variety and speed of her attacks make her hard but makes you feel like a god when you perfect them.
    And keep in mind this is from the perspective of someone who only gaurds when they have to.

    Nice list, I don't agree with all placements (I'd personally put Manus above Green Monster - I like the aspect of fighting partial Watchman, but Manus' presentation was just so much better, and delays felt more natural than monster's; and Laxasia above Watchman, though honestly not sure which I like more of those two), but everyone has their takes.
    And speaking of takes, maybe this is a hot one (at least from what I've seen from some content creators, yourself included), I really like how Lies of P does things new and different, such as status mechanics, delays or stagger attacks.
    Odd delays and unnatural animations fit the puppets' nature, and give a fresh feeling to the combat - as a Souls vet, I had to actually learn, instead of breezing through the game with knowledge and skills I've already had. Statuses are pretty well handled, even including durability mechanic (kinda Monster Hunter-esque, sharpening the blade), and they can be countered with equipment that you collect during the game.
    And stagger attacks, that's stuff I really like. It may be a bit cheap, but it adds to the variety. You can't just stagger and be free, and honestly, it only makes sense - some foes are strong, so it's only natural that they'll try to retaliate with the last bits of their strength before they collapse. And I like this, because it is unique - it makes those enemies not just the same old enemies from Souls with a different coat of paint, but actually gives you a reason to pay attention even when you think you're safe.

    I don't know if I play the game wrong (I am in the Malum District rn) but to me the hardest boss to this point was by far the Parade Master. I did the Scrapped Watchman on the first try and the Archbishop Andreus on the second try and I can't figure out perfect parry/guard for the life of me. 😆

    Totally agree on King of Puppets. Everything from build up from Rosa Isabelle St through the gorgeous opera house was perfect; the 2 phases contrast brilliantly too; and the later story revelations add to the tragedy the fight hints at.
    Was really fun fight too.
    BRB though, nah man, the BF is right 😂

    14:17 Yeah, so the three grab thing is a specific attack with a well-telegraphed wind up. I would agree that it's kind of BS, except it's one of the only grabs that can be both guarded normally and perfect guarded.

    • @BillySYT
      @BillySYT  10 месяцев назад

      Don't get me wrong, I know about the grab's wind-up. But for players still learning the moveset, the first time you dodge a move isn't always something you can replicate immediately. So the idea she can just wind up and do it again (but quicker), is still just cruel. I also didn't know it could be guarded from, but that's mainly because most Action RPGs tend to make it so you can't block grabs, as grabs have traditionally been able to break through blocks, like in Sekiro, y'know. It just feels very unintuitive.

    My two picks for my favorite bosses both seem to be pretty unpopular. My favorite boss overall is Andreus. He's easily the most memorable boss in the game for me, his design is great, the buildup is amazing, the voice acting is awesome and it's also just a very satisfying fight. I don't really mind that the second phase is just the first phase again since first phase is really fun.
    Now if we ignore design and only consider gameplay (although he does have a banger ost) my pick would be Victor. The way his attacks have so much weight behind them but still vome out pretty quick and in a way where the timing feels mostly intuitive makes deflecting his attacks just so fun. Learning that combo that includes two fury attacks felt really enjoyable.
    Concerning BRB, I personally don't like the fight but I do see the appeal for some people. It did end up being suddenly pretty enjoyable for me on NG+. The moveset of the Eldest is very fun I just dislike the others (Except maybe the one with the polearm. I do enjoy free backstabs. Wasn't aware of that on my first playthrough tho so he was miserable to fight as well.). Pretty sure it was actually the fight that took me the longest to beat on all three of my playthroughs.

    Really great list
    I definitely had the issue of first phases getting boring when I was stuck on the second phase - I had it with King of Puppets, Simon and Green Swamp Monster
    My personal top 3 would probably be Laxasia, Nameless Puppet and Black Rabbit Brotherhood 1. I found the last one really hard and overwhelming at first but I grew to appreciate it more as I played the rest of the game and was happy to see them again when they did come back.

    If I were to rank the bosses out of my 1st playthrough. I think I would go:
    5: King's Flame, Fuocu
    4: Fallen Archbishop Andreus. First boss with two phases, which was a good surprice, and visually this boss is incredible.
    3: Scrapped Watchman. A very good skillcheckere early on. His grab attack in p2 is still the hardest attack to p.block in the game for me!😂
    2: Romeo/King of puppets. Very fun fight with two very different phases.
    1: Laxasia. One of my favourite bossfights not just in LoP, but in any "Souls"-game. Just incredible!
    I hated Green monster of the swamp! p1 was okay, but p2 was just terrible for me. It felt like it was doing 7 attacks at once. Actually the only boss in the game I disliked. The rest was good or great.

    Honestly, my biggest take away from all of the bosses after properly fighting them all is that Laxasia should have only had 1 health bar like Victor had in his fight. It would have vastly improved the pace of the fight rather than having both phases being tanky as all hell for no good reason (seriously, why does phase2 have as much health as phase 1, I do not get it)

    Yeah, I'm not going to lie, I really didnt like the Black Rabbit gank fight. From watching this rundown, it does seem like having a high damage output motivity build helps with a lot of the gank fights cause I found it difficult to burst down the extra combatants and it just made things tedious. Different strokes and all that but there were certainly other fights I vastly preferred.
