I've seen about 10 contestants in this so far.. are you my favorite? No... does that mean anything? No.. but you do have a new subscriber!!! Amazing Amazing Amazing job brother!!! Can't wait to watch more of your videos now!!!
good to see you forging i started watching your videos because i figured jewelry design would be the closest thing to the stuff i need to know to learn how to model guards bolsters and pommels for my knives i been forging knives for 27 years and have only cast a few guards you're 10 times the artist i am but you give me hope that what im trying to accomplish can be done absolutely epic knife i got a lot of learning to do :) there was no such thing as youtube when i started any change your still making videos and can do a guard and pommel video on how to size and and all that good stuff for shrinkage
Thank you! Much appreciated 🙏 It's great to hear from other smiths who are passionate about the craft. I absolutely have some knife designs that require more cast pommels and guards, so I'll be sure to share the journey 😁
If I could I would give you 10 likes Josiah! I've seen your knife on fb but I would NEVER thought you design the brass parts by yourself! This is absolutely incredible my friend! I'm also very (very impressed) how amazingly well the casting went (I know how difficult it is!)! Sick looking blade and I love the blade shape! Stunning work. +1 Sub from me:)! David
This was impressive to watch. I was a 3d modeler 10yrs ago. Mixing that with my favorite pass time, knifemaking, is a perfect fit. Now I have to learn to cast lol. I even have the 3d printer. What filament are you using?
Thank you! This was my first time trying to mix medias like this but I've always wanted to give something like this a try. Casting is a huge beast to learn but absolutely worth it! The prints were done on a Elegoo Mars resin 3D printer with Siraya tech castable resin. I believe they also make a castable wax filament for FDM style 3D printers but I haven't gotten to try it yet.
same been forging for 27 years have a kiln so i can do burnout have cast a few simple pieces just got a 3d printer figured i might be able to do something like this at least i know its possible now
Great work! I didn't kmow it was possible to put your flasks horizontally in the burnout oven. How is this possible? Do I have to take certain steps to achive this? Thanks
@@GraceNoteForge absolutely welcome my brother of the forge ! Ah nice! Is it a wrought iron hammer with tool steel faces ? Just looked like it the way the light was hitting it is all. Again great video man❤️
This channel is underrated
Thank you! I appreciate that 😁
Awesome. Beautiful dagger

Awesome work man!! The 3D rendering and casing was next level. Great work!
Thank you! Cheers!

Thank you so much! This one was a blast. I appreciate the support! 😁
One of the coolest ones I’ve seen in the contest yet but not a fan of how the pommel was just epoxied on but still very cool
Great job there and a really broad range of talents
Thank you! I really appreciate it. This kind of work has been a very long time coming for me.

That hamon turned out well! What were the different quenchants that were used?
Thanks! The first quench was in hot water for just a few seconds and then quenched in Canola Oil (at room temp) to finish it off.
Beautiful work! Was that in interrupted water quench, then finished out in oil?
Sure was! first one I've ever tried lol😅
@@GraceNoteForge It turned out great!

Nice build! Is a Small Bar Smithy hammer?
Thank you! I was using a 2.5 lb rounding hammer from Ancientsmithy on Etsy.

@@Mitchasauraus I believe it's just a solid 1045 hammer head if I remember correctly. Either way, it's my favorite hammer to forge with 😁
@@GraceNoteForge hell yes man! That's what I make mine from is 1045. It's good for so many things too
love your knife, way way way too dramtic presentation.
It was a FANTASY challenge. I'd say it wasn't dramatic enough.
Amazing concept. Too bad the finished product has so many fit and finish failures.
Can you elaborate on the failures
@@adamdiaz8442 he can’t elaborate, there always has to be that one ass.
@@The1withlogic my thoughts exactly he must be a master blade smith of ultra high level 👍🏽
