They had a real adventure getting back to the barracks. He took great pleasure in getting to blast them all with the fire hose later.

Classic. Dawson was so professional on this show. Just goes to show that some things do hit us funny, and this was one of them for Richard. After a few minutes of just getting it out, he managed to turn it around.
He really was the best host of Family Feud. His almost regal demeanour being ravaged by something as "September" will remain as THE highlight of all game shows, not just Family Feud. RIP Richard Dawson.
This episode is the reason why Richard Dawson was the coolest man on Earth. That, and when the kid answered "A horse" for something that could turn out to be phony; Richard said "The dreaded phony horse gag!"
Family Fued the producers coach all contestants to keep a positive atmosphere and to tell their team members "good answer, good answer" no matter what they say - even if it is stupid as that keeps up the team spirit of the show. That is why they always say "good answer" to each other. I think it's really funny that at 6:18 when he reveals what the first girl said "September", she tries to play along and says "Good answer, good answer" while he just breaks character, turning to her and says "oh shut up!"

The other one I love is the show where the question was "Name something you take into a bath or shower other than soap and a washcloth" and a lady answered, "A duck"!!! He laughed about that too, until they revealed the answer, and there were 11 points!!!! He fell right on the floor!!!
