Such a more innocent time; but relatively close to now. Sad that people cannot express genuine kindness and show friendly affection anymore. You’re certainly missed, Richard Dawson!
@Rick Sanchez you are very correct, Rick. It seems like we’re living in a whole different place. My heart hurts for children being born into this mess.
Yes, people have such hyper-sexualized minds that they cannot comprehend lip kisses (and other very normal affectionate behaviors) as being just that-normal displays of affection. So many people say how “creepy“ it was that he normally gave the female contestants a friendly peck on the lips... (and then they go on to try to say that in order for it to not be creepy, he should be “equal” and kiss all the men that way as well, and this isn’t the case. You shake hands with or hug either sex, and with the opposite sex, you give a friendly kiss on the cheek or lips. Very close friends kiss the same sex on the cheek. 2-3 alternating cheek kisses for the French. These twisted people say that it must be “equal”, by him kissing men on the lips as well as them women in his first-introduction greeting, and they say this because of all the attempts to make the sexes neutral to each other (and they mustn’t be, they need to be different for endless reasons, making everything the same is a very bad thing, it shouldn’t take any deep thought to see why)... And they say it because of all the gender-bending insanity, and it is insanity to pander to anyone under a delusion that they think they’re something they’re not-IF that thing, such as your chromosomal makeup, cannot be changed. It’s OK for someone to think they can be rich if they are poor, or have a talent they don’t yet have, because it something they can develop, but you cannot change your chromosomal makeup, no matter how much you “identify” with being something other than what you actually are. They are what they are, and pretending to be otherwise is just that-pretending. You cannot change your chromosomes for your sex, anymore than you can change them for your lineage, your “people group” (what people call “race”, even though scientifically, there is only one race among humans, the human race, and within that, there’re just different repetitive genetic expressions of general people groups which people erroneously call “race”). It isn’t “loving” or “supportive” to pretend with someone pretending they are of another people group, (saying one “feels” and “identifies” with being Asian when one is European, or that one is European when one is Latin or Central African (except where actual Europeans have settled, for example), nor is it “loving” and “supportive” to pretend along with someone pretending they’re the opposite sex, or are neither sex, or even, as I’ve seen people proclaim, part human and part fairy, or part animal, part whatever else. And it isn’t “discrimination/oppression” to call BS on it and refuse to pander to a childish game of throwing a tempter tantrum that they want something they can’t have (a different chromosomal makeup), so if everyone else doesn’t play pretend with them, they’ll cry and scream, and kick their legs, and act like a petulant 3-year old. Society has gone mad to even think about playing pretend with people and calling it “backwards” or “dark ages” or “oppressive” if people won’t play their delusional game. One should “discriminate” (aka discern, meaning to differentiate, one should indeed differentiate, you couldn’t get out of bed if you couldn’t differentiate the bed from the floor, it’s an absolute must in life to discriminate) and the social engineers have programmed such people to attack those who refuse to engage in “supporting” insanity and an obsession with furthering a delusion. So they do all this insanity while simultaneously trying to claim there’s something wrong with normal behavior-men kissing women on the lips to say “welcome”, and men not doing the same to men. But mostly this is a Tavistock social-engineering experiment that’s worked well for them on the masses, who’ve allowed themselves to be mentally, spiritually, and sadly-quite physically manipulated (many have been drawn into questioning their chromosomal makeup, because they’re being taught that everyone should question it, which is as insane as pretending to be another “race”... ...on which point they’re further hypocritical, because if anyone did THAT, they’d scream that they’re “appropriating”, or “misappropriating” their “race” and insulting their “race” by acting like that “race” when they’re not. It’s a compliment, not an insult, if someone finds some part of your culture to be appealing and they want to enjoy or express some part of it. Even if someone WERE to do it in mockery, one always has the option to choose to ignore people who deliberately attempt to antagonize others. Feeding it makes them feel successful at it, and encourages them to do it all the more. Unless it’s actually harming someone, reacting is only giving them what they seek. It’s all just orchestrated and deliberate chaos-creating, creating opposing arguments, and unleashing them on a partially unsuspecting public (many are rightly suspicious and they are very aware of the game being played). Normally Richard would have kissed the women in greeting, but in this episode he doesn’t, because he is, as he said, in happy shock. Some of them looked a little disappointed that they wouldn’t be getting the Dawson welcoming kiss. People who complain that he “forced“ kisses on the women are simply wrong. He never did that. First of all, it’s part of the show. If you don’t want to experience the aspects of the show...don’t go on the show. But, a woman was always free to stand back a step and merely nod in response to his introduction of her, or to extend a hand for a handshake, or not lean in for a kiss, or even to turn her cheek to him and have him kiss her cheek. The women were always in control of what they’d receive, or choose to stand back, he read body language just fine and never forced his kisses on anyone. No woman pulled away and had him press further in. Richard was a gentleman on the show. He was just kind and friendly. He wasn’t a groper, which can’t be said for Joe, the current POTUS...notice how the media will point out the behavior of one POTUS, and completely dismiss the same behavior in another POTUS. If people don’t realize how easily they’re being manipulated, then they are very blind. I personally stopped allowing the the news media (or nearly all movies, TV, radio, mainstream or alternative, except for carefully chosen old content such as this video) to mentally and spiritually puke on me or access to me at all over 14 years ago.
And I say show affection anyway. I do, and I will hug strangers. I once had a man tell me (AFTER I hugged him, not as an incentive) that he hadn’t been hugged in 15 years. That’s far too long. People need ‘em. They’re good for mental and physical health. Boosts the immune system and lowers depression. Hug people. Defy it all and hug people. Ask them first, if the situation calls for it, but the world is terribly touch-starved and in desperate need for hugs. And community. Help those around you. And hug ‘em.
His son, holding that cake for so long. I was wondering when they’d come relieve him of it so he could properly hug his dad...and it had to be getting heavy, too. Such a sweet moment, he was truly overjoyed to see his boys.
I can tell he must of been a real good man . He will be missed. He is a example of how each of us should be. Care about each other and about our world 🌎

I love how Richard was like "why don't we just give them some money" and came up with the idea of letting both families have a shot at fast money, since they were already so late in starting the show!! And both families were brought back the next show, that's so cool :)
Richard had a kindness to him that not many with showbiz egos have. Maybe despite all his wealth and fame he was still deep down that little boy who grew up in war-torn England and rose above those hard beginnings.
Richard I just saw ur video u were truly loved by everybody Even Me!!! Love ur Heart!!!!! Happy Birthday up in HEAVEN God bless u 4ever!!!!!! Watch over us!!!!😄👍❤🙏
He choked while he was gonna say...I'm so happy. Nothing wrong with crying when happy or sad. I have a son and 2 daughters and a 1yr old yorkie that I consider daughter #3 and sometimes when I'm at work (steel company)and think of the 4 of them, I get a lump in my throat. Love my kids.
I remember watching this episode on GSN. I think it's funny how both of Richard's predictions turned out to be wrong: his son brought him the birthday cake, and while the 1980 presidential election was won by a landslide, it was for Ronald Reagan, not Jimmy Carter. Later in the episode, during the Fast Money round, one of the questions was "name something you would find in Washington DC," and Richard quipped, "I would imagine some disgruntled Carters," a reference to the actual outcome of the election.
Richard Dawson was the best host of this show. The man had that old fashioned class to him that nobody sees anymore today. He was a bit a character and a snob at times but he looked like he had a very wonderful side to him. The whole time he hosted between 76-85 he always did a great job and never let the audience down.
Richard Dawson, a truly good man with the biggest heart ❤️ His humor never goes out of style. If someone can bring you to tears laughing whilst never uttering a curse word that's a gift!
The only families you see this type of affection in nowadays is with Greeks and Italians. They are the happiest, most generous people that treat you like family straightaway (at least in Melbourne where I live). They are not afraid of a huge hug and a lip kiss meant in genuine platonic love and affection. I'm 27, and it's sad that people nowadays can't relate to this type of thing because we've all become so detached from each other through the internet age and now COVID. I'm a sexual assault survivor myself, and whilst I don't know what was in Richard's head, he has never displayed any type of behaviour that would lead me to believe he's that way inclined. The behaviour was appropriate for the time and there is an extensive story on how the kisses originated on the show that is a perfectly reasonable explanation for all of this.
Nothing as great as a father that loves his sons. I surprised my dad on his 90th birthday party, all he could do was complain about how long my hair was (it wasn't that long).
Everyone has to be outraged about something nowadays. It's probably because there's something missing in their life and they want to take something away from someone else.

I love this. I've always heard about how much Richard Dawson was hated by those who worked with him on Match Game. I always loved Richard Dawson. I feel vindicated!
I think the two main issues were, unlike everyone else on the show, he didn’t drink (but was a big time smoker) and b) 3/4 of the time the contestants, both the women and the male contestants would pick him for the Super Match. Richard really resented it when the bonus round was modified to the wheel spin as opposed to the contestants selecting who they wanted.
This was truly beautiful, but I couldn’t help but feel bad for Mark who had to hold that big cake the whole time. They couldn’t have gotten a table out there?! 😊

I grew up watching this show. There will never be another quite like Richard Dawson! He is missed!
Endearing and Adorable, God bless his soul.
Happy Birthday Richard Dawson
AMAZING MOMENT!!!! thanks for posting this gem
So nice I’m crying watching this
Richard Dawson was the best host of this show. The man had that old fashioned class to him that nobody sees anymore today. He was a bit a character and a snob at times but he looked like he had a very wonderful side to him. The whole time he hosted between 76-85 he always did a great job and never let the audience down.
That old fashion class is something everyone can learn from, you cant learn from the entertainment that's on today
Nobody else could have said it any better.
This is great. Only one Richard Dawson.
Richard Dawson, a truly good man with the biggest heart ❤️ His humor never goes out of style. If someone can bring you to tears laughing whilst never uttering a curse word that's a gift!
I will Always Love Family Feud He Was So much Fun And So Kind
You can tell he was tryin not to cry , then it just didn’t work anymore. lol
Wonderful man.
may love always be with you..love your show in the 80's.
I loved that Richard kisses his son on the lips. So many men are afraid to show affection (women too).
That was awesome! Loved watching the Family Feud in those days.
Nothing as great as a father that loves his sons. I surprised my dad on his 90th birthday party, all he could do was complain about how long my hair was (it wasn't that long).
As a german I only saw him in The Running Man, seeing the "real" persona is so nice ☺️
He’s just a wonderful man
How fun for those families all these years later to be able to watch this...
Rip Richard Dawson, he will still be missed.
I loved it when he would say during fast money, " survey SAID!!"
Happy birthday to you Richard
I loved this show growing up! Richard Dawson was awesome
What a sweet man Richard Dawson. Rest in peace
I think Richard was a kind man.
Richard had such genuine class. I felt personally happy for him seeing this old programme - no matter how old it was.
The 80's were so compassionate and innocent... Unlike this era where everything is all about selfishness
1987----FOREVER.
That is gone forever...
Everyone has to be outraged about something nowadays. It's probably because there's something missing in their life and they want to take something away from someone else.

There is an Agenda, Eisenhower & JFK warned us, "there is a plot in this country to enslave every man woman & child" we're here with Orwells boot on our neck the "New World Order".
UN Agenda 2030, technocracy full blown communism. 👹
thats why we have to start getting rid of these libtards......
I actually saw this episode! What a fabulous surprise to Richard and all!
Aww, happy birthday, Richard. ♡
This was truly beautiful, but I couldn’t help but feel bad for Mark who had to hold that big cake the whole time. They couldn’t have gotten a table out there?! 😊
Yes, but he probably got the corner piece with two frosted edges plus the frosting flowers
Forty one years ago. I was 22. Damn how time flies. I was around his children's ages and just beginning my life as an adult.
This makes me really old but my experience with Richard Dawson goes back to "Hogan's Heroes" a TV sitcom from the late 1960's.
His sons look so much like him!! 💕
I don't see it. Mark, especially with the longer hair has more of a facial resemblance to his mother, Diana Dors.
@@epaddonYes, and the eyes. They looked very much like Diana Dors.
Richard Dawson was speechless, this is classic.
This is so touching..💗😥
What a beautiful man! wow
Mark looks so like his Mom, Diana!!! Beautiful. Wait, Gary does, also!!!
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
He had the kindest most loving heart ❤️. You are with our Lord now.
This is a wonderful joyous celebration.
Happy Birthday R Richard RIP🎂🍨🌹🎈💃
