The first one surprised me. If she is the cult leader, who is she going to recruit? The seer was an obvious choice. They were not in the same team initially, but that doesn't have to stay that way. The second one was just an oversight that wasn't questioned any more. It's true that they cannot both be sailors, but both pirates is an option. That's exactly how you sail as pirate without outing anyone.
Izzy and Tilly being immediately thought of as on opposing teams is probably what won them the game. Also, Jon's facial expressions after being inducted into the cult are priceless.
Good lord they've brought Izzy back on an episode featuring Jon for a social deduction game, can't wait to see how many absolutely awful reads are made on her because the last time she was here her entire agenda was just absolute chaos.
Except she acted totally different than how she acts normally when sees really innocent. She literally acted horribly... she gets passionate and genuinely upset when she's innocent and gets called out but if she's bad she just mumbles wtf? Why is this happening? Like...
@@Huntscast1812 I actually started writing a whole comment about Sully still having his guns but then I remembered - Sully only has *two* guns left due to his power. So yeah, John 100% could have taken captain and tossed the cult leader for a win.

Well... Tilly knew Izzy was lying and didn't mutiny and let her be the captian for too long. Adam did say something at that moment but maybe he forgot later on.
This is such a good social deduction game, the three-way shifting alliances lifts it well above other similar games and the club really made it come to life at the table.

This game has so many layers to it! Having three teams instead of two, having a team that can grow and has two win conditions, having the luck of the draw and multiple ways to check or confirm people, really good stuff!
SPOILERS I was cheering for Holly, but got very happy to see Tilly and Izzy (who played brilliantly) win. Also the fact that the table was symetric got me smiling, even in the end when it was cultist, pirate, sailor, leader, sailor, pirate, cultist.
Very well-played by Tilly and Izzy! Establishing mistrust between themselves early on was a brilliant move, kept the heat off of them as pirates the whole time while slowly steering towards doom.
I would *love* to see another round of this one, the three teams, three person navigation, and loyalty change system is *fantastic*. And Sully got *screwed over* on this one, and he deserves to be the cult leader.
I closed my eyes for the initial reveal and knew early on that Izzy was a pirate, but I was completely shocked that Tilly was the other one, she played this one really well.
It was a great gambit, lean on being suspicious and establish conflict with your teammate, covering for them if they read you right and lay low. But this game has an interesting twist on that play, because this makes your Pirate buddy an ideal target for a Cultist Leader, who needs a trusted person on board.
There was a strong tell that Tilly was also not a sailor. Tilly, if she was in fact a sailor, would have known for a fact that Izzy was not on her team, and should have immediately mutiny'd to take control away from Izzy. The fact that she never did...
Izzy is EXACTLY the "calm for majority of the time, then absolutely destroys someone out of nowhere energy" this group needs Please bring her back more often for more episodes! A great example of this is at 1:10:30
This game has an interesting dynamic between all teams, Sailors are the usual kids in the dark, trying to feel their way through the game, Pirates know each other, but can never fully trust once the Cult strikes first, making bold team plays more dangerous, cause you never know when you've been left alone, Cult Leader has the most info, but to win has to depend on henchmen who will know very little. SPOILER: That early conflict play for the pirate team was *chef's kiss*, they really knew their audience, rest of the table immediately jumped on board for that. Shame about Cult Leader, there was no real way to get the win there, just cause chaos.
I think picking Jon out of spite was probably the thing that really doomed Holly, cuz he was already going after her, it'd of been better to have picked someone else to defend her. She still played as best she could, Tilly and Izzy just nailed that deception play to split the group's attention.
@@freddycalabrese319 depends what you mean by help her. It seems he tried the strategy of 'I'll make Holly look innocent by pretending to be against her.' I just don't think he pulled it off well this time, maybe due to Tilt. (Tilly and Izzy pulled it off much better, but their 'beef' was a lot more subtly introduced).
Don’t know if anybody has mentioned it (avoiding spoiling myself via comments), but the eyepatch/dark vision theory was pretty much confirmed on Mythbusters. Adam Savage was beside himself with joy when it worked for him. 😄
I really liked Izzy. She absolutely nailed who was what very confidently. But she can't get that across to the others and she can't hide her lies. It's a great contrast to most characters in the group and a good twist in social deduction games. Plus it doesn't hurt that I'm exactly the same way, so it's nice having someone to root for.
Fun fact: potatoes are pretty rich in vitamin C as long as you don't boil them, so depending on how these hash browns were made, they could actually be pretty good for scurvy
They’ve played a lot of these type of, ‘pick a party to go on missions’ type of games, and this one seems to be by far the best - though I think I’d house rule the silence to only last 1 mission
In the most recent patreon exclusive game of Blood on the Clocktower, Holly really got to show what a strategically intelligent game player she is. Then there is this episode where her inner 4 year old comes out and gameplay goes out the window in favor of a little spinning wheel. 😂😂😂
Kickstarted this game and nearly at 10 plays. Its an absolute banger of a social deduction game, they picked out all the best parts of others and put them together with good theme.

A lot of very obvious tells such as deflection (immediately making light of the fact that it wasn't him) and touching the nose after lying. super interesting!
My friends and I love this game! But my favourite thing by far is how polite and organised the mutinies are on this ship, happening at a set time every day, and everyone is always given a fair chance to make their mutinous feelings known
Such a fun playthrough! Happy to see Izzy back. She has such a different vibe than the rest of the regular gang. Which makes for some great reactions and setups :D
My immediate thought with the little guns was, "don't give those to Holly, she'll put them in her mouth." And what did she do when Adam mentioned the guns, put it in her mouth.

I knew Sully was telling the truth about Holly because of how tomato 🍅 red his face turned when he said he put down a blue card 😳 lol John’s whole “I’m a pirate” thing just confirmed he was in the cult! It actually takes 30 to 45 minutes (sometimes even more) of absolute darkness to give 80% vision in the dark. So the eye patch thing is almost certainly true and is really useful, when you really need to able to see in the dark. Adjusting to light takes 5-7 minutes.
That was fun, I was hoping NRB would play Feed the Kraken at some point. Great job Adam getting all the rules mostly right as they are a bit finicky. One rule you are supposed to play with when using the longer map (which you were) is that when the ship moves across the line separating the light blue hexes from the dark blue hexes, all players draw back up to 3 guns (none are drawn if already at 3 or more). Did not affect the game since there were no successful mutiny's before the ship crossed, however if the players had known there may have been some as folks are more likely to use their guns if they know they are getting more.
The number of times I've watched the mythbusters episode that tested the eyepatch thing is really more than it should be. But yes! Super cool and definitely makes a difference in how effective you are in sudden darkness for a significant amount of time 16:55
39:00 never understood how people don’t catch on to others in this situation. Tilly spent a solid minute picking between two cards she claims were identical 😂
The talk of death cults just makes me think about that one dude who didn't die when Heaven's Gate's "away team" went ahead with their plan, that one dude who was like "oh, uh, yeah, I'll stay and tell people what happened, y'all have fun on Hale-Bopp". How much you wanna bet that's the one guy who was like "i don't buy into this shit so what's the best way i can keep myself from fuckin' dying"
If I recall correctly, it was actually the cult's plan to keep one or two people alive to update the world on what happened. The guy actually regretted not having joined them
I felt so bad for Sully cuz he seemed legitimately convinced he messed up the first time. There was definitely a play for Sailor to win had Adam not go power hungry and threw Sully overboard. If Sully had been captain, he'd definitely chosen both Adam and Laurie, which would've increased the likelihood of a sailor win. Hats off to Izzy and Tilly for the win, good game.
This is my first time seeing Izzy and I love her. She reminds me of myself, relatively quiet and doesn't speak much but knows how to crack a good joke here and there. ❤️

This is my first time seeing Izzy and I love her. She reminds me of myself, relatively quiet and doesn't speak much but knows how to crack a good joke here and there. ❤️
The end was intense ! Play the game again !
Please do one of the type of games with Daddy Ben some time 👍
Also;
Tom, Blair, Brooke, Dom, Isaac, Rosie, Ken aren't in this video..... all of them are awesome.... and all of you guys are awesome.
You really do have a great team and you all add so much as individuals and as a collective.
Also, lots of praise for those behind the camera.
Thanks for being such a wonderful channel. U mean a lot ❤
Sully's descent into insanity is hilariou.
This game is amazing. I would pick up a copy of it myself. If i had more friends to play it with. I really hope they play it again at some point.
That was so good, The reveal of the One Team He wanted to have possibility of claiming, just perfect
Izzy & Cap’n Board Games are back! 😅😂🤣 I hope they play this one again. It was great.
I'm always hyped to see a new NRB video. I've tried a few new games thanks to this channel.
Holly saying Sully put in a red when she put yellow and nobody ever hinting at the fact that Izzy was the one lying about Sully putting in a red. Holly was just repeating her story.
"I am feeling rejected" Made my day! 😀
Yass a new episode! I found the channel and binged all of it in a couple weeks, having to wait now feels like a cruel punishment
This was such a good video! It's nice to see a social deduction game that isn't short.
Shoutout to Sully not making a peep even when all his gaslighting suspicions were confirmed.
I feel like the cultists had a couple of missed win opportunities through the game. GG!
"You don't want to do it now, it would not be a good boardgame club meeting." On the contrary, that would be the BEST. 😂
28:36 Jon face lol. Just like when his character kept getting assasinated.
This is my new favourite episode of board game club, I need to play this game asap it reminds me of secret hitler but pirates
I. NEED. THIS. GAME!!!!!!
Big ups to Teri for all the behind the scenes and camera work at the Wrestletalk live party!
