I turn 57 on the 22nd. Up until I was 37 and got pregnant with my one and only child, I worked out regularly. I did kickboxing and was a personal trainer. After gave birth, my immune system thrown into a frenzy. The last 20 years have been spent trying to get this autoimmune disorder under control and also come to terms with the fact that my body is not going to be the same as it was when I was in my 30s. I started walking at the beginning of April and have done 150 miles so far. My goal is to do 500 miles by December.
LaTrice Lott Congratulations on becoming a first-time Mom at age 37. That probably happened for you because you were in such great shape. I’m not a doctor though I studied to be one (in English, why!?) so I know how to study and do research. That being said, may I please offer a few well-intentioned thoughts based entirely on my personal anecdotal experience, working with doctors, and my personal research for the “autoimmune disorder” that I was diagnosed with? Perhaps “your” (you don’t own it, it don’t own you) autoimmune disorder was initiated by simultaneously occurring changes in your endocrine system due to pregnancy (high risk at age 37?) concurrent with peri-menopause. Perhaps. Repositioning to that mindset might refocus your efforts from rheumatology to endocrinology. They are very different. For me that meant an emphasis on homeopathy and rebalancing (this involved everything from becoming gluten-free, dairy, and flesh free to IF and probiotics and still leveling up nutritionally, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually) rather than medicating and suppressing. It’s a great quality of life choice and change. Obviously, it’s your choice. I’m extremely thankful and happy that I was able to “trust God and not man” (or woman), pray intensely, do research, listen to my body, and trust and listen to the leadings of the holy spirit. When the information came I was able to receive it. I’m twelve years your senior, on zero medications, and I look and feel 💃🏽. I wish you well. Thank you for this opportunity to share. 💝
Thank you for sharing this video! I started working out consistently when the pandemic started! I'm small, but was out of shape! I enjoy it now! I'm lifting as well too! Gotta keep this 50 year old body looking good! 😊💕
I was drinking my coffee and shocked when you said that you are 50... I had to rewind the video 3 times to make sure that my English was not failling me.🤣🤣🤣Say what woman!? Are you kidding me? You look absolutely great .. You are a true inspiration!
I enjoyed watching your video. I am a active 60 yr old who has always maintained my physique. I totally agree with you about staying fit in your early twenties. Being able to stay fit has given me much energy and self confidence. From one sister to another. Love what you do. Do what you love girllll...
OMG when I hit 50 the weight came on so quick and I have been trying to get it off. I realized I LOVE carbs and I notice that everything has carbs lol. So I'm struggling a little. I tried Keto last year and i became really sick. It was like I was having a carb withdrawal, so I'm trying it again but I'll be more diligent and pray it goes well, Thanks for the discount!
So thankful to the Lord that He led me to your channel. The years just flew by and I was in denial dreading getting older. But it's a blessing! I've been embracing it more and glad I have great examples like your channel. I've been working out daily with Gloreeb in the morns on zoom. She just turned 50 and looks amazing too. Im toning back up and it def helps w/ starting the day stress free. I love sweets, chips too, and was getting so mad when trying to quit. Low carb is a great option. But I got deeper with it and started trying keto recipes for the past 2 wks or so. Im toning and shedding lbs. I can eat mug cakes, pizza, ice cream, just with a twist and I'm so satisfied and got my joy back of eating. Lol Thanks for sharing this. With everything going on around us, it's great seeing other women out here living and loving life, it's absolutely inspiring💛...and I too am a blk woman who dont like chocolate. Lol thought I was the only one😄
Thanks for sharing details about your health struggles. I am not diabetic but I am a cancer and RA patient and know the importance of a healthy diet. I love sweets, my dad loved them too and I have great memories of treats from him each Friday after he received his pay. However, as a nurse you know that cancer cells love sugar. When I was first diagnosed, I lost a taste for most foods and especially sweets for over 2 years. I know that it was God helping me to get better. I also have had friends and family who were genetically like you but who inherited hypertension. My husband has it from both parents and is pre- diabetic. He manages with medication. I have never had much weight gain but I have fluctuate between 153- 205 lbs. when taking steroids as part of my RA treatment. I feel I look my best when thinner. I am adding you to my prayer list for your health and eating struggles. Mrs. Angela you have a beautiful spirit. Again, thanks for sharing parts of your life and struggles with us.
Working out is so good for women. 40 or older. I am on my weight loss journey now. I already lost 14 pounds. I am eating right too. This is a life change for eating clean and right as I age. I use to love potato chips too until my blood pressure kept elevating sometimes. I went cold turkey on chips for health reasons. I didn't want the doctor to put me on any blood pressure meds. I exercise by walking on a outdoor track and ride a spinning bike You look great! Thanks for this video on health for us ladies.😊
I'm 75 and praising God for good health. I do a 30 minute speed walk 3 days per week. I just love watching your channel it's helping me to think , look and feel younger, thank you❤BTW my name is Loretta. ❤ I'm planning to start a new workout for beginners next week 💪 lol .Keep up your good work 👏.
I'm from the city my mom took me to the Y...I think the swimming was access but she wanted me to do what she couldn't do. I'm 53 swam to my 20s and it is the best workout.. had a 6 pack. I'm about to do an hour workout and my weights. Getting myself back into my 8s I'm in a 10. I said this got to go. Joined WW and hired a trainer Mocha Lee Fitness. Love your channel... can't wait till you get 1M. I'm going to get those earrings love them.
Great info thanks for sharing. Love today's look!!! I started Keto/IF/OMAD in May of 2020. Now in June 2021 I'm 60 pounds less, just in time.for my 60th year! I hate sweets, cake, chips, potatos, etc. My carb problem comes from rice, beans, pasta, fruits and some bread. I happily gave all that up to get my body back. I don't believe in portion control, I prefer to eliminate problem foods and eat as much as I want of the good stuff. Glad you discovered the joy of biking. During the lockdown I got an indoor bike trainer so I could ride my bike in my living room. What a difference that makes!
Thanks Angela, the truth will set us free. I bought a jump rope and a hola hoop about a month ago, they have just been sitting, but you are a motivator and you are showing me to do better, even if l am 70. l have a Sister in Christ in Trinidad, who has tried to motivate me to move my body, and l love carbs as well, l have started not eating after 6pm, 2 months ago and l have gotten use to it, l drink plenty of water, but let the truth be told, l have been lazy, but when l stumbled onto your channel, l knew it was God sent, you open my eyes and l thank you again, be blessed. Sharing this video. Didn't mean to write a letter.🙂
@@ShericeCRowe I just looked at his video yesterday I have been working out with some of his videos 2 years ago and lost a good amount of weight and then I fell off
This is on my bucket list this summer. My children have all learned at an early age as children. My hubby was tramatized in the pool when younger and I just never taken the time But we're doing it this summer. You look amazing!
Just signed up. I'm 43 and this is information is so helpful. Getting my water prepped to be by my bed so it's the first thing I grabbed in the morning. Keep up the great content
I had to hire a trainer because I moved to Ga from NY and gained weight drinking that sweet tea. You have to drive everywhere here in my little town. We even drive up to the dry cleaners 😩. I have to stay snatched because over 50 is hard.
I know this is a year later, but I love your videos. This was a great one. I’ll be 48 next month and it is vital to move your body. I love walking, Pilates and jump rope when I can. I try to move the body 5 times a week. Thanks for the content. You look amazing.
Dance is a great form of cardio exercise Put music on and dance or take a class at a Ballroom and attend weekend dance events. It is a great way to make friends as well. I've learned Deroit style Ballrom, Chicago stepping, salsa, waltz and Foxtrot just to name a few.
I love to exercise, started when I was about 19 and now I'm in my 30s. It's such a great feeling when you're done. Fully energized and great mental clarity when you're done. Just started jump rope. You're right about the recovery time following a illness
👍"A little mini car for the price of his bike"...you got me on this one...sis I don't know how to ride a bike, but my husband will teach me...so excited
My husband has 4 bikes and one is custom. I get it! I've started intermittent fasting to deal with my type 2 diabetes. A "pure" keto diet is really tough on my digestive system, but I do eat far fewer carbs than my husband. I cannot relate to your hair struggles at all but it's very interesting to learn about them. Once, I chaperoned a group of middle school students on an overnight trip to NYC. Our school population was 100% in possession of more melanin than I was. When we did a bed check on the girls, they were all wearing shower caps. I thought, "That's who's using those things!". I love learning about the differences and the similarities of peoples. The more we understand each other the better we can relate to each other. I really enjoy your sense of humor, "But I digress".
Thanks much queen sister! 👑 I am 51years and I too love my gym time. I have been doing it for over 20years. Just to let you know, you real estate is good. Compared to mine.😂😂 💚🙏

I love this video. I have started back exercising within the last 2yrs and it has helped me so much. I am 53 yrs old and l want to continue to live out a healthy life. I might try that jump rope thing lol. Thank you for sharing.
The more videos I watch of you the more I see my older self. I hate running but I'm good with anything else. I get bored with one particular kind of exercise and I got interested in swimming so I got sisterlocs so I don't have to worry so much about my hair( I'm black through and through😂)
Love this page, I’ve just found it! I’m 75 years old and have been exercising at about 5 days a week ! I’ve had this habit for years. I’m not at the weight I desire but I wear what I’m happy with (size 2-4). Working on that water! I’m retired and usually workout 1-1 1/2 hrs daily. Thanks for this inspiration site.

I am 71..have been exercising all my life..totally agree with what you say..i don't run..i was a professional dancer..during covid i took a personal trainer ...very gorgeous young ..also very essential girls🤣🤣🤣... I work very hard and intend to look good even in my old age..💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 .
Thank you Angela, for the exercise segment. I love exercising as well. I now have a routine. I love running. I use to run 10 to 12 miles 3 times a week or 5 miles a day. I do not anymore. I want to swim, but I do not know how. I am 58 and have had heart at 23 years old and cancer surgery at 46. But I am well.
Angela your active lifestyle shows in your youthful appearance and vitality. I turned 49 this year and like u I have always been active all my life and focused alot on my diet so I know the rewards are great. Keep doing what you are doing I love your channel.
Wow! You and production are helping more than you might in fact realize. I’ll definitely be sharing this with my parents, as well as applying the principles, myself. It would’ve never dawned on me to bring a jump rope. Sharing your brilliance is much appreciated! 😊🌻
Yes that is my struggle as well bread's cookies cakes oh my like a good piece of carrot cake. Let me just stop because I've actually been doing green smoothies and I'm down 10 lb.
As A New Family Member Thank You For This Information. My Plan Is To Start ASAP . God Bless You Angela For Sharing So Many Informative Vlogs . I Have Watched So Many Of Your Vlogs Since You You Appeared On My RUclips Volgs Non Stop Tonight.
Once again, Ms Angela, you are killing the RUclips game with this incredible content! 👊🏽😍Recently, I fell at home and was horrified at how long it took for me to get off the floor by myself! Loss of range of motion and stiffness sneaks up on us fast if we don’t remain active! Love the jump roping suggestion and will dust off my bike!😂I am starting my routine this week.Thank you for the inspiration. Love you and “production”!!⭐️🔥
So I didn’t find out until today that I missed a video - and in learning I missed this video - I also found out that I am not just the one that is mentioned when I disrupt them 🤣🤣🤣 - thanks for the shout out Sis - and yes Keto has changed my life … and for sure I’m always around, as you know to give keto advice - or should I say, in our case, just subs you may like to reduce your sugar intake. Anyway, love ya and keep doing what ya do - making the world smile 😊
@@AngelaMashelle I was in the USA on the way back from Mexico when it posted and I believe it was on a day that I was actually flying and so when I turned on my phone I’m sure I clear all the reminders and things without looking - and thought I went back to check on things that were in my feed and Didn’t …. But I’ve seen it now and I think you 🥰
Your outfit looks good on you, and that nail polish color compliments your skin tone perfectly!! Love the entire look!!🥰 I workout 4 -5 xs a week to maintain my weight....it sure is tuff as we get older!!! Keep up the work because you look awesome 👌!
Me: biking is considered exercise😳 picking up my kids from school on the bike. My 2 year old on the front and my 5 year old on the back seat. I didn’t even count it as exercise. 🤣Dutch black girl here 🙋🏾♀️
Hi Angela I am also type 2 diabetic found out 2 years ago and like you I have a hard time controlling my carbs I am taking metformin twice daily so I am looking forward to seeing what you do to maintain thanks for doing this video.
Yesss girl I definitely need help in the carbs department my Dr. told me I'm borderline type2 diabetic so I have to check myself before I wreck myself if I don't want pills. I say all this to say thank you I'm gonna look into the keto cycle
Hey Aunty 🙋🏾♀️I’m one of the 30+ nieces! I thoroughly enjoyed this video (and your channel as a whole! ). I recently started my own journey back to fitness and this video was so inspirational and right on time. I’m seeing results which is great and even thought we know exercise is so beneficial as we age, your experience with the elderly/nursing home cemented those facts in my brain! Thank you! ❤️❤️
Angela I just love your fashion sense. I want to be like you when I grow up. I just started back exercising because I know the results will be great for me. I do enjoy looking fabulous and feeling the same. It was an accident running into your videos, God knows what He's doing. I appreciate you keeping it real. Until next time......
Angela- you are making 50 look 👀 FABULOUS!! Bike riding- best thing ever! I try to ride 4 or 5 times a week. I need to incorporate more weight lifting in my routine- thanks for the tip👍🏾 Great video and info.
Love this. Especially the reminder for us ladies to move our bodies by just taking up walking. And I feel so encouraged to take up my jump rope again. And now I really want to ride a bike. You were really enjoying yourself. 50 years young. Angela you keep amazing me. I'm very good with people's ages, however you surprised me. I had you at 47 tops. Love all your videos.
Angela, thank you so much for all the great information in this video! It is so true about the older you get the better you recover and get around if you have consistently exercised throughout your life. I was the caregiver for my dad for 6 years when his health started to decline up until he died at 88. He didn't start getting serious about his health until his late 60's!He lived way longer than expected with type 1 diabetes and kidney disease. Everything you said in this video is so important and I thank you for the reminder. I was working out while watching it very motivating! I even extended my workout! God Bless you and Production, I hope many people take heed to this video!
I just wanna say, I'm so glad a woman my age has a yt channel with content that I can appreciate & relate to. Keep the contact coming. btw...thank you for your video addressing the Monique video. I love how you covered Monique while tactfully addressing the subject at hand. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Keep it up 🔥💯Life style changes is key to weight loss with both mental and physical health improvements. Now having lost 50kg/ 100lbs in 5 months I am starting to feel a lot more like myself. Still on my journey and happy about it. Keto diet played a big part in my weight loss
I knew I was really drawn to you for a reason😘 I’m also type 2 diabetic thanks to genetics. I’m thin and I have been very picky with my eating because I’m vegetarian, do yoga at least 3 times a week and if I don’t do yoga for 1 week my entire body hurt☺️. I need to learn bike riding😍
Thank you Angela! You are a great help to me. Very inspiring. I need to loose about 30lbs by July 13th 2022. And by watching you I will succeed!! 🏃♀️🚲🚶♀️🚲🚵♀️ 🚶♀️
Enjoyed this vlog!! I’m 48 and can attest to how important it is to do some type of exercise, especially if you’re a woman. I have 3lbs-10lbs hand weights and it was difficult at first developing and sticking to a exercise regime, but doing a little each week, you will gain perseverance and satisfaction with how your body feels and looks.💕

Diet is very hard from me, too!!
The more videos I watch of you the more I see my older self. I hate running but I'm good with anything else. I get bored with one particular kind of exercise and I got interested in swimming so I got sisterlocs so I don't have to worry so much about my hair( I'm black through and through😂)
Thank you this was great info. I see you past 60k now Congrats!!
Thank you sis!

I am VERY IMPRESSED!
Great tips! I’m a potato girl too. We have so many similarities. I have Type 2 diabetes diagnosis as well…genetic. Thanks for all you do!
You look amazing. I’m right behind you, I’m 49, and working on my best self ( In all areas) Thanks for sharing such valuable content and what I like most is you keep it real!!!!
I try to be consistent. It's weights with squats and planks thrice a week for about 20 mins. Daily vitamins a must. Thanks for the encouragement.

@@AngelaMashelle You are most welcome!
Love your jewelry and outfit. So cute your outfit! 😊
Angela your active lifestyle shows in your youthful appearance and vitality. I turned 49 this year and like u I have always been active all my life and focused alot on my diet so I know the rewards are great. Keep doing what you are doing I love your channel.
I love your bike riding story. I share a similar story. My husband bought me a bike also. I too am hooked.
Love it!!
Wow! You and production are helping more than you might in fact realize. I’ll definitely be sharing this with my parents, as well as applying the principles, myself. It would’ve never dawned on me to bring a jump rope. Sharing your brilliance is much appreciated! 😊🌻
You can have a saltwater pool. We grew up swimming.

Thank you Cecelia, I'm so happy that you enjoy my content
Once again, Ms Angela, you are killing the RUclips game with this incredible content! 👊🏽😍Recently, I fell at home and was horrified at how long it took for me to get off the floor by myself! Loss of range of motion and stiffness sneaks up on us fast if we don’t remain active! Love the jump roping suggestion and will dust off my bike!😂I am starting my routine this week.Thank you for the inspiration. Love you and “production”!!⭐️🔥
You are so gorgeous at 50, thank you for the inspiration.
Am glad I came across your vedios, am hooked!

Thank you so much!
I love you back. I don't know how you missed this one (it might've been during the time you were working long hours)
Awesome! I love me some chips and potatoes too!!
You never cease to amaze me, thought you'd be 45 yrs old, max. Thank you for the motivation and keep taking good care of yourself. 💝💝💝

I picked up jumping rope this month and my ankles are always on fire when i'm done...Now I understand why. Thank you so much!
You got this!
Thanks you for the positive message.
Me: biking is considered exercise😳 picking up my kids from school on the bike. My 2 year old on the front and my 5 year old on the back seat. I didn’t even count it as exercise. 🤣Dutch black girl here 🙋🏾♀️
With two kids in tow, you are definitely exercising ;)
That sound like so much fun and I bet they LOVE IT! You're definitely exercising in the best way
Hi Angela I am also type 2 diabetic found out 2 years ago and like you I have a hard time controlling my carbs I am taking metformin twice daily so I am looking forward to seeing what you do to maintain thanks for doing this video.
This blessed me! I just turned 40 and my only goal is to feel young and look & be healthy!

YAY, I'm so glad you're here
Thanks so much for being transparent about your struggles; and thanks so much for emphasizing the importance of exercise as you age!!!
Angela- you are making 50 look 👀 FABULOUS!! Bike riding- best thing ever! I try to ride 4 or 5 times a week. I need to incorporate more weight lifting in my routine- thanks for the tip👍🏾 Great video and info.
You can do it!

Thank you for sharing it was very helpful. It the potato chips for me I have to be careful with fats and sodium but i love chips.love your 💅
Angela, thank you so much for all the great information in this video!
Thanks for the tips, Angela! I hate weight training, but I know I have to do it.
I need to know about the bike riding shoes. I am looking for some. Bike riding is the bes!

Keep it up 🔥💯Life style changes is key to weight loss with both mental and physical health improvements. Now having lost 50kg/ 100lbs in 5 months I am starting to feel a lot more like myself. Still on my journey and happy about it. Keto diet played a big part in my weight loss
Congrats on the weight lose!
Hi Angela You look amazing keep it up and I think I’m going to try jumping rope 😀
Am deeply humble by the advice and coaching us here through journey of experience
You look Beautiful and Fit Angela, Yaaas Queen!!! I'm 54 and work on beating that carb monster off too🙏🏾✌🏾❣
Thank you Angela! You are a great help to me. Very inspiring. I need to loose about 30lbs by July 13th 2022. And by watching you I will succeed!! 🏃♀️🚲🚶♀️🚲🚵♀️ 🚶♀️
@Angela thanks for sharing.
I love this topic. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Hi Angela thank you for sharing your age and thank you for this channel and many blessings ☺️
I agree with you potato i the devil thank you for this video it's good to know I'm not alone in this struggle...love your outfit of the day.
