With SA 20 for 251 from just 86 overs in the 1st test, and 20 for 393 from 137.3 overs in the 2nd test, it looked like Australia was going to get the win easily with 160-170 overs available to bowl.

    WIth this result Proteas can still make it to the test world championship finals assuming Sri Lanka and India lose all their remaining games. Still, assuming that happened, they would face Australia again, and it's a bit of a shame to say, but even if they made it, I don't think SA has what it takes for this cycle. Fair enough, they have had strong results in test in 2022, but they need to rethink the playing XI and start fresh for the new cycle. And it will be tough, for some of their trademark test players won't last 4 more years at the top level.

    Amazing to think that a squad that contained Warner, Smith, Kawaja, Cummings, Starke, Hazelwood, Lyons, the Marsh brothers, etc were humbled by the Proteas by 322 runs in their last SA test, as well as taking the series just 4 years ago. The difference was back then, SA had players like de Villers, Amla, du Plessis, de Kock, Philander etc in the team. Now we still have a very good bowling attack but dont have batting resistance of substance - our poor bowlers have nothing to bowl at.

    The Aussies are on a roll right now. Without doubt number 1 ranked test side! Let's see how they perform in England this Summer. A rejuvenated England side with their "Baz-ball" style of cricket, with the Dukes ball in English conditions could see the Aussies pushed hard this Summer to keep the Ashes:

    Today, the DRS showed why it is so flawed. I can say this. Pitch and hitting the wicket should be the only things that should be determined on LBW's (and the half ball rule is extremely dumb too). Impact should not matter, like AT ALL. If the ball is hitting the wicket, it doesn't matter where it hits your pads. If it hits your pads and it's hitting the wicket, you should be out every single time. The umpire deserves no say where it's hitting the pads. If it's gonna hit the wicket, it's out.

    In this modern era of cricket in Australia, didn't expect any pitch to be so docile not offering much to the bowling side on the first three days only when the pitch worn down Australia capitalize on the uneven bounce and deteriorating extract spin, if SA had batted first might had a balance game not to mention the rain ☔ played a major spoiler in SA favor...

    I dont follow cricket much anymore ever since my main team SA had most of their greats retire and a bunch of clowns being chosen based on connections and not skill but i occasionally follow it at times and this was one of them and when i saw Khwaja denied a double i felt sorry. Despite what others were saying about it being a team game, Aussies had already won the series and had nothing to lose. You could always whitewash SA even 50 years later if not 2 or 3 years later but Khwaja, who is 36 already, was denied an opportunity of a maiden double century when he only needed 5 runs. Kinda sucks that. i mean fair enough he couldve gotten out before that but the odds of that happening were equal to Aussies winning the match which they didnt in the end. i felt they shouldve let him get it. It brought back memories of Amlas triple century and the first as a South African i think so it sucks this dude who was a player from the time of the greats of most countries, had to get denied his first double for his (not even native apparently) country. He decided to play for Aussies over Pakistan i think it was and they shouldve paid his dedication back by allowing him his first double when its unknown if he would ever reach it at his age

      If aus had won today they were sure to qualify for wtc final but bcz they have not qualified bcz of draw they need at least one draw now to qualify so basically not letting ind win 4-0 if ind win by this scoreline nd somehow sl win their 2 matches against nz aus r out that's why it was important for aus to win this match

    • @White742

      If you check the stats, apart from India all the teams that toured Australia for a test series were whitewashed/ Aus didn't lose a single match in that particular test series since 2016.
      South Africa aren't the only team to mess up.

    • @ImPerfection2
      @ImPerfection2 Год назад

      I think y'all getting this wrong , basically I said that him as an individual who chose Australia over Pakistan deserves some appreciation with the work he has done and that Aus can always qualify or whatever even if it's 50 years later but as a human he may not even get a chance at a double century. Think of it like you are working at a company and you have the opportunity to get promoted and you know you may never get the chance at such a high promotion again but the boss tells you it's for a business deal so you can't even though you were loyal at and worked hard for it.
      I'm just saying that neither of us know the outcome like sure team first but they didn't win did they? Who was to say that maybe if they had him get his 200, they could've won the match even though they had less time to bowl? That's basically my point that we don't know what could've happened either way so why didn't they lean towards him getting his first double

    Sad to see that south african batting strength has gone to such low level, there was time when Smith, Amla, Kallis, De Villiers, du Plessis, Duminy used to make team scores around 400-450 easily and steyn, philander with morkel stop opposition having lead with top notch bowling

    Was such an even series from the Aussies, no obvious standouts with bat or ball.
    Smith was the only one who had only one failed at bat. Warner had 3!
    and with ball, Starc, Cumins and Lyon shared the load, but Cummins could have easily bene player of the series - 12 wickets at 17, S/R 43.
