    ROBIN!! Have I told you lately how much I love you?? 💕 😂 this is perfect timing!! I needed this today! I am doing both the unicorn CAL and an animal squares blanket and this was just the bestest time for this in the whole world!! I am so thankful it is not just me that does not have all the same size squares!! Lol!! I just ordered some Scheepjes and Paintbox yarns and I am excited to make some of your blankets next! Wooty hoots!! Love the nail color too today! It’s a perfect neutral!!

      😂 I thought it was important to show how my squares were all over the place too with sizing and stitch count as I wanted to show that it's normal and 100% not a problem! Sometimes people get so wrapped up in being perfect that it sucks the joy out of what you're making - I'm all for a bit of fudging and slapped dash-ness as it's supposed to be fun! 😂 I will have to look up the animal squares (sounds like fun!) Who is running that CAL? x

I have had to learn some new and original fudging for the animal blanket!! Some of those animals are giving me fits!! I have another Grandbaby due the 23rd of this month. Another Boy!! Then my 3rd G-baby will arrive in April!!! I am the most excited MiMi!! We don’t know what the little Easter Egg, as I call my daughters baby, is going to be yet. But my daughter is doing the nursery in gray, yellow and white. I finally found the yarn!! It’s European yarn, I cannot remember the name of the yarn. I have never used it but I am thinking of doing your Lotus Blanket that broken the internet and broke Pinterest Robin!!

    What patience you have! Wow. Actually seems simple joining but there's so much technique to learn! I'm trying this for small 32 granny squares, about 2"X2". I could get 7 loops with adjustment in one corner. After attaching 4 squares I thought I better make only 2 chains instead of 3 and 4 at the corners instead of 5 as the gaps were not so clear. Will it work out better this way, I want to know?

    • @HookedbyRobin
      @HookedbyRobin  2 года назад +2

    Good morning, is there a reason to join from the top row down and not in vertical panels? Thanks

      Hi Olia! Lisa has the shades of the yarn listed on her website which you can buy from woolwarehouse online (they ship worldwide I believe!) X

      I asked because I was confused about the fibers. On one website it was listed as 100% Acrylic on an other it was Acrylic and wool. Could you tell me which is it?
      Thank you for responding!

      @@oliab ah yes, Stylecraft do a yarn which is a wool blend I believe (possibly called Stylecraft Life or something like that?) The yarn I use is 100% acrylic (Stylecraft Special) here is the direct link for it on the woolwarehouse website! www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/yarn/stylecraft-special-dk-all-colours

    Did not see you crochet the second part of diagonal join on second row.

    Would this join work on strips of mitered squares, in a Chevron format?

    How secure is this join? I've been making a baby blanket out of squares of different stitches and have been trying to pick a join, I want something pretty yet secure since I want it to last for years without tearing.

    Quick question, for larger blankets (I am doing a granny square temperature blanket where each month is a panel), would we just do the braid in multiples of 13, or how would it work with larger sizes of blankets? :)

    • @HookedbyRobin
      @HookedbyRobin  4 года назад +2

      You can work the braid in any number! The only thing that matters for the flat braid join is that you have the same number on each side - other than that it is totally flexible. I'd advise evenly spacing them and then counting how many you have for that first edge 👍 You can even do more chains and skip more stitches for wider more lacy joins if you fancied it!

    Is there a way of doing this without taking the yarn off your hook?

    I love this, but I have a question. Do you suggest blocking each square before joining, or join everything together and the block? Thanks

    • @HookedbyRobin
      @HookedbyRobin  4 года назад +1

      Totally personal preference really! I found a couple of the squares definitely needed blocking first but generally I don't bother until after everything is joined and done :-)

      Hooked by Robin. Thanks! I am definitely going to use your technique on my blanket. I’ve already watched the video 3x! I am trying to get the hang if it. Lol

      @Mrs.Silversmith 4 года назад

      Any crochet that requires "blocking" is a sign that the pattern isn't very good.
