Came here after The Writing on The Wall reaction (which was great, btw!) and Dark Tranquility is what you'd call Melodic Death Metal! Great bands in this genre, not sure what you've reacted to before but more of them, and other bands in this genre will fit your taste if you liked this. Besides DT, one of my other favorite Death Metal bands are Insomnium. You should listen to the " Shadow of the Dying Sun " album from them, at least the track "While We Sleep". If not for a reaction, at least for yourself! :)
Great band, they came to my country ( morocco ) in 2014 and they were good live, and formidable with the fans, try to get into their classics : insanity crescendo, therein, lost to apathy
Been a fan for 20 years, they just keep getting better. Their entire catalogue is amazing. This song is next level, one of my favourite songs they have done. :) they are one of the pioneers of Melodic Death Metal. This song is off their upcoming album "Moment", out November 20. They have released 2 other tracks from it, "Phantom Days" and "Identical to None", which have no clean singing, but are both incredible as well. I suggest checking their previous album "Atoma", their album "Fiction", and "Projector" for a more experimental, doomier, gothic feel. Their album "The Gallery" is considered a classic. :)
DT will always sound different from album to album.I am impressed with them that they are not hostages of their borders in the direction. They boldly destroy the foundations and this is great. You feel listening to them that you are still the rebel and proud outcast you once were))
@@sonicallydisruptive it's probably not even about digging. it's about time and company...The fact is that DT is much more than just a metal band for me.They came when I was returning to the world from drugs, and this world I was going to, it turns out, was collapsing with lightning force.I gave up teenage self-destruction started turning to the one I loved (my parents) but alas they destroyed themselves with alcohol.I still have my friends with the same fate and DT under which we burned like phoenixes. We have happy families now.We took place in life. And now 21 years have passed like 1 day.I was lucky I sometimes listen to DT with my wife on the shore of lake Ilmen in Veliky Novgorod. We have a lot in common with her, including DT.
I started listening to DT somewhere in 2000 with a Projector. After the Creator, they gave cool music and lyrics.I don't like metal about fantasy and other Satanism(for me, these are children). And I am sincerely glad that DT did not turn into a commercial project.Even if they don't know much about them, then I know something secret.Something most people didn't notice...
I was going to mention, if you like this genre of music and are unfamiliar with them, I highly recommend Amorphis. Like Dark Tranquillity, I could recommend dozens of songs, but "Under the Red Cloud" or "The Bee" are both great places to start. :)
Dark Tranquillity is great, really looking forward to the new album! I'm even more excited as another of my favourite bands release a new album on exactly the same day: Communic is a well established Norwegian progressive metal band with great, sweeping songs, not really as "dark" as e.g. DT or Katatonia but also rather melancholic. Maybe you want to give them a chance? I imagine you might like them pretty well. Their newest Single is Communic - "Hiding from the World" ruclips.net/video/pes0XKnlIy8/видео.html (without official video) I would really love to see you react to them! Thx ;)
Some great albums from 2020 Violet Cold - Noir Kid Oranssi Pazuzu - Mestarin Kunsi Lik - Sthlm Katatonia - City Burials Draconian - Under a godless veil Pain of salvation - Panther Benighted - Obscene repressed Necrophobic - Dawn of the damned Mörk Gryning - Hinsides Vrede Darko Us - Dethmask
Dark Tranquility is one of the best bands out there, and their even better live.
The genre and tone is called The gothenburg sound. :)
The more I listen to it, the more I like it!
DARK TRANQUILLITY - Immemorial
No video for this one, so it won't get blocked. Ah, and DT's been this good for decades. Cheers!

That's when I found them too, my favourite band.
When the clean vocals came in I thought of VOLA. The jury is still out on the growls but interested in hearing another song by them.
I think you would really enjoy Iridium by them, more of a non traditional song as for the band but still amazing.
