Secondly, Korean Marines should be thankful and not call their benefactors weak. We supply nearly all of their armament's, ammunition, planes, defense technology and not to mention their freedom. Without us, N. Korea would role through S Korea in no time because they have one of the largest armies in the world. • @stop736
      @stop736 4 года назад +3

      I went to PI on 9/14/01, the first day flights were allowed in the US. And when we got off the plane in SC, or maybe we flew to GA, I don’t remember exactly. But there were DI’s already there and they had us forming up in front of everyone at the airport as soon as we got off the plane. They told us go into the head and get rid of ANY contraband. Which we did obviously. I don’t remember another time though where they did that to us in receiving. It was awhile ago as you see.
      I remember a civilian on the plane sitting next to me and he asked me if I was going to boot camp and I said I was. And he goes, you know that they’re gonna be there yelling as soon as you step off the plane right? I make this flight every week so I see it all the time. That’s when I knew I was in for it. 😂. Best decision in my life though, can’t deny that. Truly and honor to earn that title.
      Edit: this isn’t my account, I’m a guy and I went into 3rd battalion, Lima company. But the females probably dealt with the same stuff we did at receiving at least. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @taoliu3949
      @taoliu3949 4 года назад +1

      @@stop736 I went in 2014, Lima company also. I came in by bus, no plane. No contraband room from what I remembered. You only brought your paperwork and your ID. Everything else went to storage, so it's not like theres anything you could bring into the the squad bays.

    • @sterlingpinoy
      @sterlingpinoy 4 года назад

      nothing like that at all. you empty your trash at the airport because 2 or 3 marines are there helping with paperwork. they give you your packet there as well so thats where RCTs get that junt. You then go to PI then it's an easy process, just a ton of waiting which was honestly the worst part of basic for me. I hated waiting and wanted to actually do stuff so I almost fell asleep tons of times.

    The only comfort, and I understand it isn’t much, is knowing that the DI’s screaming in your face went through the very same stuff the new recruit is experiencing. In fact, for the DI’s it’s twice, because I was told DI school is also very intense, and the DI school instructors are brutal towards Marines training to be a DI.

      Yep this is true, also it's likely the DI's they had were even harder on them. The uniforms are issued by other recruits and no one is yelling. For a moment I thought this was the Chair Force.

      I noticed that and I actually wonder if this was before the true training begins. Perhaps this is a part of training where they don't need to be screaming non stop while they're getting uniforms and other necessities. There wasn't even screaming for them to quickly get off the bus. Can't think of any other reason other than this was before training officially began so they were more chill.

    I do think it's weird how you Address you Training Staff as "Sir/Ma'am" when they are not Commissioned Officers. Here in New Zealand we address everyone below a NCO "Non Commissoned Officer" as their Rank. All above a CO "Commissioned Officer" get addressed as "Sir/Ma'am".

    • @larrydale5733
      @larrydale5733 6 лет назад +3

      UNSC INFINITY well for all intents and purposes during recruit training recruits are to address all Marines/Sailors they encounter as Sir/ma'am until they pass the Crucible and become Marines themselves. After they become Marines they address enlisted by thier rank and Commissioned Officers with sir/ma'am. It makes it a lot less confusing in an already confusing environment

    • @hellomjb

      US Marine recruits address their drill instructors and other Marines in the formal way officers used to be addressed at all times in the old days. It was a training device. While officers are rarely addressed so formally any more, certain traditions do not go away.

    • @taoliu3949
      @taoliu3949 4 года назад +2

      It's a hazing process. You don't rate to address anyone by their ranks because you're not a Marine yet. As a recruit you're lower than dirt so you address everyone as Sir or Ma'am. Once you earn the title Marine, then you can address other Marines by their ranks. On the practical side, it conditions new boots so they won't fail to address an officer as 'Sir'.

      Yelling is for many purposes. As a recruit, you’re trained to do everything with speed and intensity. The Drill Instructors will scream to create that “fog of war” mindset. They need to get their recruits used to being under pressure and making decisions while undertaking those levels of stress.

    • @GettingtheTruthOut
      @GettingtheTruthOut 7 лет назад +2

      I can't speak to the entire US Military, but in the Marine Corps, they apply "Stomp your ass into a stain and break and take your country" training. In all seriousness, of course not, they don't do that in basic, but they do a form of that in specialized training. Marines get that training in real life though and all over the world where people aren't trying to avoid shooting you, but are actually trying to kill you. If you know someone isn't trying to shoot you, you're not going to be very afraid. Marine Corps training is 50% physical and 50% mental.

    • @taoliu3949

      It looks about right from when I went in 2014. The real training starts when they hand you off to your actual DIs a few days later. I dunno if anything got softer, but a recruit committed suicide a few years ago because he was being beat and hazed. Ended up in a huge investigation where 10 Marines including the battalion CO were court martialed (the battalion was infamous for hazing recruits).
