Everyone should have a friend like yours..what a lovely guy...ALL OF THAT FOOD!! wow it all looked amazing.....Good to see you are having an excellent trip Lee
TimeLine : Early 2000s. Location : Some Strip Mall in Joiseeeee. Went into an Indian Restaurant and it was VERY Indian Restaurant circa. 1980ish….Flock wallpaper, wipe clean everything, piped sitar music, somewhat sticky carpeting….It was GREAT!!! Anyway, get in there and get ordering; Asked for a Garlic Chilli Chicken, extra spicy, please. Keema Rice, Keema Naan and some Poppadoms. The waiter was very accommodating and asking where we were from and all that and actually made the kitchen make the Keema stuff. The meal was lush. Paid up, full of praise and when the waiter handed me back my card whispered in my ear, and not in the accent he’d been using all evening, “I’m Luton, innit!?” Absolutely Brilliant!!!
Tikka Masala originated in a restaurant in Glasgow, Scotland. This version recounts how a British Pakistani chef, Ali Ahmed Aslam, proprietor of the Shish Mahal restaurant in Glasgow, invented chicken tikka masala by improvising a sauce made from yogurt, cream, and spices.
I've been in India 5 times. No less than 3 months each time. Travelling all over India I never saw Samosas presented like that. I belive that to know Indian food , one must try Indian food in India. I live in UK for past 20 years and after trying many restaurants I can say UK Indian food is poor.
Will Martin survive the next 3 weeks with you? He is a right character. Loved this one. You will have to go on another diet when you get back from the States.
mate i started whatchig you when you were on 40k subs your the best 🤯your the best wish i meet you soon out of surprise your the best again keep it up lets go
Aww what a great friendship! Poor Martin lol. I wonder what @DarrenJohn would make of it as he loves a hot curry! Love poppadoms, do they taste different over there as look the same! Onion bhajis looked lovely! Awesome video!
Another amazing video! Can you both chat about how you both ended up living in America? (I know you went back to the UK) but for new viewers I’d love to hear a bit of background :)
Those curry's and all the acompliments looked amazing. I visit New York every couple of years or so. I tend to stay in surrounding areas, like Jersey City, Hoboken, Hudson NY etc. Looks like Longbeach will be on my list for next time.
Just checked your analytics 49.9K you must be mins away from 50K 🏆 👏, I have to go to work so I’ll congratulate you now and await the upcoming celebratory video 🍻 🇺🇸
I could feel the heat from that vindaloo by just looking at it. I think rather than a mango lassi to sort me out after it, I'd have needed a defibrillator.
I'm originally from near Birmingham but have lived in the USA for 30 years. I too was on the search for a curry that even closely resembled what I used to get back in England and there was always "something missing" it just wasn't quite right. I also cook Indian and roast and grind my own spices. Roll on 20 years and I come to find that the Indian that you get in the UK is actually called BIR style (British Indian Restaurant), there are now several RUclips channels that specifically cover this style of curry. That is the "secret sauce", whereas the curries that you typically get in the USA are "traditional Indian", admittedly, the differences are subtle but that is the difference! Fortunately we now have an Indian restaurant here in Michigan where the owner worked in the UK for 10 years and it's by far the closest thing to British Indian curry that I've had to date!
BIR ( British Indian restaurant ) curries are all about the base gravy, gives it the unique taste. Great vid looks like your enjoying yourself two meals in 😂👍
The food did look nice. I noticed they had Ghobi Manchurian on the menu (an Indo-chinese cauliflower dish). Manchurian dishes are nice but not always easily available in all restaurants here in the UK. Great video Lee 👍 (or is it Dave) 😁
I'm a korma kinda gal I don't like hot spicy food but I luv watching other people eat hot! Love the vlogs my daily medication for smiles & laughes 👍 xx
Hey Mac Yank, the food looked excellent and if it tastes as good as it looks then it’s gotta be a ten outa ten, curry and a beer with your mate priceless, good video kidda 👍🏻
Going to be In Vegas 1st - 8th December. Does that coincide with your trip? Great value off strip steakhouse called Herbs & Rye currently doing a half price offer. Dining there Mon 6th.
Plenty of laughs guys! An 8.8 from me, food looked top notch! You can get DIY popadoms like those just depends on the brand, remember the sweat is supposed to cool you down hence hotter countries tend to eat spicier cuisine..Do like phal, tindaloo (even hotter than vindaloo) or like this eve butter chicken with a kick 🍺
Food looked very nice - thumbs up. Still, you don't know what you're missing till you have real home-cooked Indian food (especially Punjabi), yum! Homemade mixed pickles that can leave you speechless for hours...nice
When I was 21, I asked a local Indian curry place to make me the hottest curry they can make as I didn't enjoy a vindaloo, they laughed and made one special, cost £10 (which at the time a curry and no rice was more like £5) I got it home and had one bite and my mouth, throat and eyes were burning, it was a naga curry, took me a good 3-4 hours to eat as one mouthful of it was more than enough.
Sean. I have an apology to make. Because you are right. I filmed a vlog there of an Indian and Birmingham does have the best Indian restaurants. I will be back in Birmingham to film and will mention it. 👍🏼
Indian....... The best food on the Planet for Me, Wow Everything looks absolutely amazing, Spectacular even, At this minute I`m at a 10, 22 mins in to this video, Yummy
That sure looked spot on for me, could not have done that hot one but the starters looked and were presented well... I don't think I could have down marked for the popadom, its just the way they do them over there.... if the rest tasted as good as it looked.. a 9.5 from me. Apart from the popadom...how could it have been bettered ?
Those poppadums remind me of the uncooked mixed spice ones that you can buy in the UK. If you deep fry them they are just like the restaurant ones. However - the pack also has instructions for microwaving them, but they turn out smaller, less bubbly, and without the sheen of oil, that has been flavoured by everything cooked before it. I’ll start that food vlog one day!
Just like me you over ordered, I once went to an Indian in Weymouth and after I had finished ordering the waiter asked when the others would be arriving I then knew I had gone a bit overboard by the time they finished bringing out the food they had to push two tables together never made that mistake again, it looked like all your dishes were meant for two people at least, good value considering how much you got.
Living in Shipley near Bradford I know a good curry, those starters and main dishes looked absolutely delicious......if a little pricey for a Yorkshire man.😁
The appetizers looked amazing. Could have made a meal out of them. Can’t understand the obsession with ‘as hot as possible’ - so ‘English, Saturday night after the pub 20 year-old trying to outdo my mates’ attitude. My Indian friends all laugh at that. So unrepresentative of good Indian food - from any of their multiple cuisines. Indian food can be wonderful. Overly hot does it no favors
It's a common explanation that many curry dishes are British inventions from the days of the empire and are not representative of proper Indian cuisine. I suppose the spice was used to disguise the fact the meat used wasn't in the best of conditions given the lack of refrigeration back then.
Hiya Lee and Martin, Haha, Martin is brilliant. Great banter. Ten mins in. His dog shape poppadom. Close up shot. Lol. Omg Martin is such a joker. Water to your pint of vodka. Classic. The food looked tasty. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend.
Food looks very good - onion Biharis are pukka. I have lived for over six years in both India and Bangladesh . Regularly visited Nepal and Pakistan and live near one of the censers of Indian food in the UK - Glasgow. I also am very familiar with British Military curries in many Officers messes around the world. In other countries Indian food can be variable - but this food looked credible but without tasting it is difficult to really judge. One thing tha I disagree with you is on focusing on child and heat - if you want to annoy Indian/Bangladeshi cooks ask them to add extra chilli.
Loving the American vlogs, Martin looks a great sport and good friend, that Indians looked so delish, smooth sauce, tender meat and loved the appetisers!Making me want a takeaway now! Stay safe Lee and enjoy xx
Good review food especially the appetites looked outstanding! Please look up a top steakhouse which should be quite interesting also comparing the price with the UK.
Wow all of that food looked FANTASTIC! and If I'm ever as wealthy and fortunate as your good self to visit the USA I am definitely stopping here for a curry!
Looked like great food, curry and starters. Martin sure does like a hot curry. Authentic Indian there. I rate it 9/10. The owner/Manager RJ was quite subdued, probably worried about the rating, lol. I would like to see the bill at these places and what gratuity is being charged, like you show in UK reviews. BTW Congrats on 50K subscribers.

Martin is great fun. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to together. Cheers

Love Martin's Yorkshire/New York accent
its really strange lol lol...twang of both :)

It’s a great place in summer - only two hotels though - Allegria and Long Beach.
Crazy prices in summer so air b n b may be best option !

Bit too much of a celebration! My head still hurts!
@@thesilverfox9185 Hahaha, you won’t need to eat or drink for a year after Lee’s departure at this rate!.
That vindaloo looked deadly ☠️☠️ I see Lee u took the easy option like I would 👍👍
prefer the weather/time of year in your Indian restaurant review in Tenerife a few months ago lol.
Martin is an absolute legend! Great video Lee! Loving these videos.
I’ll take that!!! 👍🏻

A suggestion for Martin for food scoring Top of the League
Lee and Martin, great double act. Curry looked great. Well done guy's. 👍😥 ..Sweat.
Awesome Lee, RJ really pushed the boat out on those starters. Respect to Martin for managing to eat a vindaloo +++
I could feel the heat from that vindaloo by just looking at it. I think rather than a mango lassi to sort me out after it, I'd have needed a defibrillator.

Loving the Vlogs with Martin he’s funny 👍
RJ needs to cheer up a bit lol. Brilliant video yet again Mr Macmaster 👏
Your friend looks like a New York mafia boss
Bahaha. Just stumbled upon your channel. You and Martin are a hoot and a half! 🤣
Lol. 😂 Thank you. 😎
BIR ( British Indian restaurant ) curries are all about the base gravy, gives it the unique taste. Great vid looks like your enjoying yourself two meals in 😂👍
Couldn't agree more, I have a fantastic base gravy recipe, it makes the equivalent of about 30 curries. Been cooking my own for ages.
The food did look nice. I noticed they had Ghobi Manchurian on the menu (an Indo-chinese cauliflower dish). Manchurian dishes are nice but not always easily available in all restaurants here in the UK. Great video Lee 👍 (or is it Dave) 😁
Martin's really fortune having this Indian restaurant on his doorstep. Food looked 😋😋

I would have had Mixed kebab for starters. Followed by Lamb bhuna with egg rice , Keema Nann Bread and some meat samosas 😋
Exactly my order
I've done my fair share of Globetrotting and in my most humble of opinions I think British Curries are some of the best outside of Delhi
Would like to see the bill with all the taxes and gratuity added
Jeez.......my bumpty was twitching looking at that curry sauce and i'm thousands of Miles away
That was a spicy meatball mama mia the sweat😂😂
😄 absolutely brilliant guys 😊👍
It' Fred elliot from corry is it ?
8.5 that food looked lovely bit harsh over what is just a pre starter
Congrats on 50k Lee. Onwards!

you dont eat curry/balti with a knife and fork. thats what naan bread is for,use the bread like a spoon/scoop
@ jasonsweb1 yes we do used eat carry with knife and fork
The menu seems quite limited compared to the UK - no Dhansak for example but more fusion dishes. All looked very nice though
