We have such great food in New York. I love your videos, but really wish you would branch out more. Eating at dives in Times Square doesn't represent the city well. Martin is right, try some different places next time. :)

I met him at Hirams in Edgewater Nj last year and he put me on his vlog,before this trip I told him to try the chippery in Jersey City.which was passable because that what he does English food etc,I emailed him recommendations and he never seems to go lol?

But they do try, I think the diversity of foods in the tri state area is amazing and it would show the British audience what a special place like you say the NY metro area is take care

Great to have the "silver fox" back, but you really need to show some of the independent restaurants rather than the chains. This would allow you to show what other offerings are out there with better quality.

As a former waiter who likes to generously tip, you are way too generous on your tipping! $7 tip at a sit down burger place even in New York is a very high tip! I would’ve loved to have you as a customer!

Thanks for pointing that out, I totally agree with you, I tip generously too, the down side is the waitress's fight over us, they constantly give good service with a smile, If I was going somewhere different every day I can assure you Id tip fairly but a little less than I do at the moment.
@@robbo8566 in a sit down place like that where there’s no table service? Zero to a max of 10%, and that’s being generous. Places like this are glorified McDonalds- I don’t tip at McDonald’s, so why in a place like this?

Just before Christmas 2019, a mate of mine took his family to New York, some 25 years after he'd last been, then to celebrate his 21st birthday. Back then, he'd come back waxing lyrical to the point of being irritating about how wonderful America was, how great and cheap the food was, and so much better than in the UK!
Then, in 2019, he came back complaining how expensive and of poor quality he felt American food had become! Don't know whether it's a New York thing or not but his opinion had definitely changed!

Outrageous price. I just wouldn't go in. Wetherspoons..Gourmet burgers and chips £9-10 with a pint so basically the burgers £6..and better than that shite.

You’re in the heart of Midtown. I can’t find a decent burger for under 15.00 right now and I live in the Bronx. So for the area you dined in unfortunately that’s around the going rate. Although yes , quality and service have definitely fallen off everywhere. Thanks for another enjoyable video. You 2 are always entertaining.

Dare I say this....DIVERSIFY! New York must be full of all sorts of styles of good and you're being the typical Brit sticking to the same old same old. I'd love to see you reviewing other stuff. Would love to see you eat Cajun. Shrimp or crab boil, jumbalaya, po'boys, gumbo, fried chicken. Not that I've ever tried these myself. I have a wonderful friend in Louisiana - I'm fascinated by what she eats. She made a jumbalaya when we met up in Port Isaac - brought the rice and spices all the way over with her. Basically though.....anything other than the stuff you've got in a rut with. 💖

This is what I'm saying....Lee's going to less than wonderful New York restaurants and is getting gouged. There are so many better places - and values - outside of the touristy parts of the city. The Silver Fox has the right idea! (And for the record, UK food has improved greatly over the past 20 years or so...)
Youd have been better off going to New York in Northumberland. Alot cheaper and closer to home and no 20% service charges.

Think you need to listen to Martín and go to his suggestions for food 😂. When you get back to the UK you should try the Dambusters pub in scampton Lincolnshire where the red arrows used to be based but it holds a lot of history. Which i know you like Always busy for Sunday lunch there. But have to say love Martín on your vlogs!
Blimey Lee it was almost 2 dollars to the Sterling way back in 2004, sooo cheap to shop in the USA. Food was still crap even then. Except for Italian quarter in Manhattan. Had a fabulous meatballs and spaghetti at same place as Sly Stallone and various other celebrities had dined at. Great vlog as always 😊. Ps. Reckon burgers r better in the UK. Hello to the 🦊

Lee Lee Lee - don't judge "American burgers" by what you find at or near Times Square, the tourist capital of New York City. It's not renowned for great food or good value, and many of these places exist to try and exhort theatre-goers and/or unsuspecting tourists alike. I'm reminded of a friend who lives in Las Vegas, and he literally avoids The Strip like it is a warzone. Same with the Times Square area for most New Yorkers. Obviously some people have to work and live there, but just like there are not grown men dressed as Elmo all over the city, the real New York City is not found in Midtown Manhattan. The best food (and at more reasonable prices) is found just about anywhere else.
Again, the suburbs outside of NYC will offer some of the best pizzas, fish & chips (American-style, sorry), burger joints, hot dogs and other foods in the region, if not the country...that's my opinion anyway. Sorry your experiences haven't been that great, but as somebody who works in New York and commutes in, I'm not terribly surprised. I find most NYC food to be overpriced and not particularly wonderful.
I should also have added- please keep up the good work on both sides of the Atlantic!

No, and yes. But there certainly are fewer people in places like Times Square than there used to be.
January and February are by far the least touristy months. That’s just what I’ve heard statistically on a number of RUclips channels.

It's no secret, food isn't that good here. In fact, there are lots of things here that aren't that good. That being said, the reason I love it here is that there are loads of opportunities, especially for my kids, both who have got great jobs ( with excellent medical cover) and will soon be getting on the housing ladder. The UK is far too crowded, and property is way way too expensive.
Basically, you can get a better burger at Diddly Squat Farm!

Couldn’t believe the price of those burgers. Way way too much salad for me and I’m the same as Martin, I don’t like mayonnaise and yet they automatically put it on. A burger should overpower any lettuce etc but this was the complete opposite. 1/10 I’m afraid buddy on this one. Thank you both for sharing. I love the banter between you guys.

Try the food courts in nyc they have very good quality food courts with all different types of cuisines. Or you could try food in Brooklyn where they have good quality food at a cheaper price.
