    Hi, My name is David Romero. I was the percussionist with EWF from 6/94-1/00. I enjoyed Philip singing “Reasons” many nights and killing it every time! The man was blessed with a God given talent and he’d be the first to tell how “thankful” he is to our Heavenly Father. Thank you for sharing your reaction. Be blessed.

    It blows my mind that, when I was a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s, it was common to hear phrases like "white people music" or "black music". As a huge music fan, I'm so glad I never let myself be boxed in. My taste in music is all over the place... RnB , classic rock, motown, jazz (bebop, fusion, acid jazz, bossa nova...), funk, soul, house music, hip hop, trip hop and so on. Music is universal. Musicians know that, and serious music fans eventually see that, if they don't already. Just watch music documentaries or listen to interviews. That's where you get to see who your favorite artists were influenced by. I've been pleasantly surprised by a lot of things I've learned over the years.
    I loved this reaction and am glad you appreciate great musicianship, which doesn't seem to be as much of a priority the way it once was. Did you know that EW&F and the band Chicago have collaborated quite a bit over the years. In fact, I think one of the guys in Chicago wrote a number of songs for EW&F. The keyboardist, I think. The groups have even toured together. Yeah, Chicago is another band I really like... mostly their stuff from the 70s. I have a dvd of one of the concerts they played together several years ago... real good stuff, man. I love those horn sections!

      Nope........I grew up in the ‘60’s and rock was NEVER classified as “white people” music or “black people” music. Music was music. It was ALWAYS about what pleased you individually. It was always about TALENT and MONEY. If it was as divided, as you say, then Motown would have never got off the ground. That was some of the greatest music of all time. But we NEVER classified it as you have!! And honestly, the only time I have heard this is recently on these “reaction” channels.

    • @NJbakintheday
      @NJbakintheday 3 года назад

      @@pamcoyer9582 I'm really happy you see music that way. I wish more people did when I was coming up. As I said in my previous comment, despite the divisive attitudes toward music I often heard back then (from whites and blacks alike) I never let it dictate what I listened to. Those weren't *my* feelings about music, just what I'd hear from some (not all) other people.
