The Kamasu looks a tad too angry close-up . . . but looks seriously dynamic, energetic and confidently aggressive vs divers with more elegant round/rounded indices (ala Submariner) when viewed from slightly further away. Loving my black one.
Love my blue Kamasu and feeling pretty good with a the quality despite the lower-end comparable cost. But...with a 8.5in wrist I'm already looking at their Kanno 44mm--good price point, but without the sapphire crystal.
There is a black case, black bezel, black dial version with gold accents that comes on a rubber strap and a stainless version with a very dark green dial.
Everyone raves about seiko skx models, and sure they're great because they mod beautifully. But the quality control on an Orient is just about unbeatable at the price point. And their divers great looking watches. Thanks for the review
Try to get a Seiko anywhere near this price with a sapphire crystal; you can't. This looks like the true successor to my Mako USA. Please note; the bezel Orient uses is easily damaged. Luckily the aftermarket offers quality replacements.
Been loving my Kamasu! I went with the blue with rubber strap and it's been a great summer watch. This is my first Orient and I'm very impressed with the quality. Thinking I might try the Triton next.
I have the red (it’s really maroon). I love it. Beautiful sunburst dial. Lume is great, not quite as good as my SKX but it is very good. Wish there were solid end links on the bracelet and wish the crown was a little more grippy. That’s my only two complaints.
Nice video Aron. I love Orient watches. I own one of the classic designs. I've gotten into their divers but there are so many divers out there that I like that I can't decide which combination is right. I'll keep looking. Thanks for showing different styles of watches to help me choose. Picky in MA!😊
I added the red and green dial versions to my collection and replaced the bracelet on one with a new Eache flip lock mesh bracelet which is much nicer than the older mesh bracelet.
I have the limited edition with the mother of pearl dial and I can confirm that there is no AR coating on the sapphire crystal. In typical Seiko and Orient fashion, unless you go up to the Marine master or Grand Seiko. All my Seiko watches have had a crystal swap to sapphire crystal if it originally came with a Hardlex and if it came with sapphire, changed up to a sapphire with clear AR coating. All done by my watchmaker so the watches aren't compromised in terms of water resistances. Great video as usual, buddy! 👌🥂
Love the trim line not so thick sheek quality diver! Im going to look to order the black to maybe bump my 44mm casio duro out of my collection. Always looking to upgrade on my fav looks!! Thanks for showing great options on whats out there!! I just dont have the time to look.
I got the red dial version of this one. I also switched the crystal for a crystaltimes domes sapphire. I put the kamasu flat sapphire on my ray II. All good, very happy.
I just got one of these just over a week ago. Mine said Mako III on the box from Orient. It is an awesome watch. It wears a bit small IMO. My wrist is just over 7" and it wears perfect. I set it by the internet atomic clock and in a week it is with in 6 seconds! I guess that is mostly just luck. It's a heavy watch. I don't notice so much while wearing it because I have worn at least some watch for 30+years, but when I take it off, it has some heft to it. I went with black because it goes with everything, and it was priced reasonably. The red and green are cool but not +$100 or more cool :/
mine runs +4 seconds a day if i wear it. if i leave it in the box it goes up to +10. And the crown at the first days it was a problem, it's was just winding up and could not catch the thread
Timing. Aet the Arrow to the minute hand and use for tracking up to 1 hour. Practical world timing, sprinklers, eggs, events etc. Thanks for tuning in 😎👍
Both companies make good watches. If it was between this and a pro diver, I would choose the Orient. More original design and Seiko/Epson in-house design and construction. But, the pro divers running the Seiko NH35A are nice watches too! Great question 😁👍
Not sure how i feel about those applied indices touching the seconds markers. Looks too compacted/ messy. Would of preferred some better spacing or chapter ring.
3 big negatives of this watch and the previous generation. The bezel and crown have less grip than a bar of soap and the crown is very small. The bracelet is crap and the hollow and very sharp end links will damage the watch. Very disappointing that the only change they made was to the crystal.
I love my Kamasu! It really is one of the best watches I own! Just stellar!
Great vid Aron!
Thanks Jamie!!😎👍👊 It's a great watch!
Aron, great review! I'm impressed with this offering from Orient. Orient has stepped up their game with the new watch. Cheers!
Thanks Bob. Really appreciate that. Orient continues to improve, and the Epson oversight seems to have encouraged many new directions. Cheers man 😎👍👊

Really falling in love with this brand. I’m hoping that I can get this in with the red dial soon. Then hoping to find the very scarce “yellow Mako”!
That yellow Mako would be awesome to find!!

Spot on!! Thanks for tuning in 😎👍🙏

The blue is beautiful!! I owned the Triton. Great watch. I've got a video out there somewhere 😁👍👊

The crown could be slightly bigger. I noticed this on the Mako 2 also. Great observation 👍😎👊

Thanks for tuning in Gayle 😁👍 Your can't go wrong when you do make up your mind!😊
Thx 4 the confidence! The one I can decide on is the Rolex Cellini Danoas but, well......you know!😂 hahaha

Excellent information Frank. The limited edition is awesome!! Cheers buddy! 😎👍
It doesn't have AR coating. Have the blue one since Oct 2018. Really nice entry-level diver's. Chose this over the SKX.
Better than SKX. Great choice!! And thanks for the AR update 😎👍🙏
It may be better than skx but skx is an iconic watch. I'd pick skx over kamasu.
I'm considering purchasing this and putting it on a jubilee bracelet. I seem to be in the minority preferring jubilee over oyster.
cool watch really like it cheers
Cheers Craig!

They have great case design.
I got the red dial version of this one. I also switched the crystal for a crystaltimes domes sapphire. I put the kamasu flat sapphire on my ray II. All good, very happy.
Nice!! I need a sapphire for my Kano😎👍👊
The lack of that ugly power reserve indicator on the dial makes me instantly like this more than the Triton.
Some like the power reserve. It's not a matter for me. Cheers, and Thank you for tuning in 👍
This would be a very good candidate to mod and install the new coin edge bezel.
Hollow end links on the bracelet. No wonder people wear them on rubber
But the lume is good.
So that's OK then.
The Mako USA models have solid end links and sapphire 👍😁👊
neil piper for a watch that cost me less than $250 and is giving you a sapphire crystal I’m not honestly expecting solid end links...

Great Review Aron 👍👍👍
Thanks Cuz!! Really appreciate you letting me check it out!😎👍🙏
woohoo! Orient Lake Havasu! :p This watch looks MEAN with a mesh :)
You know it brother!!😎👍👊
No AR coating but small price to pay for getting a Sapphire crystal
I cannot understand: is mako2 smaller in diameter than camasu?
Same case size.
i love Kamasu!
Great moniker 🤣🤣👍👍 This is a great watch!!
Def a cool piece for the price
😎👍👊
Th luminous pip on the bezel looks bigger on the kamasu?
One day I will get that white dial Mako USA II.
I should have never sold mine!😓🙄 Thanks for tuning in 😁👍🙏
mine runs +4 seconds a day if i wear it. if i leave it in the box it goes up to +10. And the crown at the first days it was a problem, it's was just winding up and could not catch the thread
Great review ! But what kind of blue silicon strap you have on Mako ? Looks like a very good match.
Sergei S Uncle Seiko
The Blue Silicone on the Mako 2 is from blushark straps 😎👍 The waffle strap on the Kamasu is from Uncle Seiko. Thanks for tuning in!
Kamasu is better than the seiko turtle in my opinion and for a lesser price im sold. Im kinda in a dilemma to choose between the black or red one.
My only complaint is since the crystal is recessed the bezel esp. on the inner lining gets nicked or scratched over time.
That's a great point!! Ive noticed the same on the Mako USA models. 😎👍
strap??
So what is the purpose of the bezel rotating? What is the real world application? Thanks.
Timing. Aet the Arrow to the minute hand and use for tracking up to 1 hour. Practical world timing, sprinklers, eggs, events etc. Thanks for tuning in 😎👍
KAMASU TOP!!!
Would you believe Duty-free island had those for $166.95 for any color. Of course they were sold out tho .Coulda Woulda , darn.... lol 😁
Wow!! That is crazy.
This watch has screw down crown or not?
👍
How does this compare to the Mako USA II?
Solid end links on the USA. Different indices. Very similar handset 👍😎
Is the dial glossy deep black or matte?
Matte
@@OFD Ok, Thanks!
Is this watch better than invicta?

@@OFD thanks for the reply. I think the only thing stopping me from buying this is the weird bezel notches.
Still playing Elderscroll Morrowind?!
Can anyone tell me the 2nd language option on the day complication?
English/Japanese
I think that the bracelet you show is for the Mako II. The Kamatsu has other bracelet, and very poor too
I thought they were the same hollow end link bracelet. Thanks for tuning in 😎👍
Not sure how i feel about those applied indices touching the seconds markers. Looks too compacted/ messy. Would of preferred some better spacing or chapter ring.
Hit the thumbs up, Guys ✌🏿👌🏿👍🏿😉
Thank you 😎👍🙏
@@OFD like your channel 👍🏿👌🏿✌🏿
why nobody produces white dials with black hands anymore...............................
Great watch but I really hate the crown on it. I have a cheap $100 Chinese watch with a better feeling crown

Luke W Bezel action much different too
Orient watches are much better calibrated than Seiko.
True!!
Have several Seikos and one Ray II in blue. To be honest... my Orient runs awful. I am sure it´s just a "Monday model", but totally unhappy with.
