I’m a 19 year old who’s just recently got into watches. Just bought this watch as my first diver for 250 in green! Thanks for the informative videos, really help me!
I'm wearing mine now. The red dial has so many different personalities depending on the ambient light. For the money it punches way above its price point. It runs at +4 sec a day. None of my Seiko's with the 6R15 movement even got close. I have on a distressed dark brown leather band and it looks magnificent.
Orient=Best value for money. I am a Rolex owner, and I still have a Bambino Gen II verison 2 that I wear at least once a week. I just love their dial designs, they do such a good job, and I find the accuracy of their movements to be pretty good. Thank you for the video, been considering adding a Kamasu to my collection
You have great taste, the bambino is one of my favorites and an excellent dress watch. The gen 2 version 2 is actually the best one in my opinion and I have the all black one.
Love the Kamasu, especially the green/turquoise variant. The red dial does look sweet though. Orient did a great job improving the bezel and adding a sapphire crystal compared to the older Mako II/Ray II. Unfortunately they dropped the ball a bit on the bracelet. Really wish it had at least solid end links. The Orient Mako USA II is still the Best Buy as it has sapphire crystal, solid end links and excellent lume. I’m really hoping Strapcode makes a fitted end link bracelet for these. Bruce, I realize this is a sponsored video, but these can be had all day long for well under $300 USD from both Long Island Watch or the USA distributor, Orient Watch USA (who does frequent sales/discount codes). No need to get them from Japan. Great review as usual. That red looks really versatile and pops under bright lighting. I’ll break down and get one as soon as I hear the news that Strapcode does a fitted end link bracelet.
I've had my blue dial Kamasu for about 6 months now and it is my favorite watch. I bought a Hamilton Khaki King for work a few months after that, but after a couple of weeks I started wearing my Kamasu to work again, because although I like the Hammy, if I wear it that day, then I won't be able to wear my Kamasu!
I was this red or green but chosen to red and it blew me away when I first handed in person. It's just magnificent red. Especially I don't see many red dial around and great for collection.
I was able to purchase the red Kamasu for $189 during the Black Friday sales this year. No way was I going to pass up that deal. Very satisfied with this purchase, now one of my favorites in my beginner collection.
So happy I found this channel. This guy speaks my language and focuses on the good stuff. Also like how the sumo is in the background in some shots showing off
In the past few weeks, I ordered a Luminox Colormark chronograph, returned because it was extremely bulky and lume was weak. Ordered a Seiko SRPD95, nice, but weak lume and more fashion-oriented that I was looking for. Now received my Orient Kamasu in stainless and black, and it is hands-down the nicest, cleanest, highest quality watch I've seen for under $500. Cant say enough good things about it.
I've owned this red Kamasu since it release, I love it for what it is. I wear it on car seat style bond nato and people seem to think it is more expensive than it is. It gets noticed and complements. The watch is well worth the msrp.
I just ordered this over the triton. Update 6 months later its an awesome watch love it!! One year now I still love it and I put a strapcode jubilee on it , gorgeous
Nice informative video with a fair representation of the good and bad of the Orient Kamasu. One thing that scares me about the watch is accuracy. I have an Orient Blue Ray 1 which consistently runs 90+ seconds/day fast. It’s under warranty so I will send to Orient USA to hopefully resolve this issue, but it concerns me: even 25 seconds a day is hard to justify. Just my opinion. Anyway, another very good review. Thanks for sharing...Ed
Even mid level Seikos have that same range. The Japanese understate the performance of their watches in general. If it runs +25, bring it to a watchmaker. Most of them can get it under +5 a day. 90+ seconds a day is almost unbelievable. Either a massive slip up during production or you dropped the watch. In the former case it will be under warranty, in the latter case it's tough luck.
Masterpiece! - fantastic calibre, beautiful, automatic, diver 🥰, Japanese , Spanish, French, English dial, great bracelet, fantastic price ! The watch pleasure to look at before time check 🤩😍👍
This is a fantastic watch! I’m enjoying mine so much! Amazing timepiece for the price, and that dial oh man, best red sunburst dial I’ve ever seen so far. 🍒💣
Hey Bruce, Amazon has this watch for $188 as of 8/19/22 and had to pick it up. News on price courtesy of Relative Time. I really enjoy your reviews, thanks !
I'm wearing my Orient Blue-ray II and I have the blue Triton on order from jomashop. I think I'm going to have to get this watch with the green/ teal dial. Thank you.
Really well done video! Thank you for your expert insight on the Orient as i continue to eat my brains about buying a Seiko or this one. I'm leaning a lot toward Orient. Lets see! Thanks again, a beautiful classy presentation.
Great review and great watch, I sold mine last year but missed it so much I just bought it again lol. I'm not a fan of the Milanese mesh but absolutely love the padded shell cordovans, so I'll be throwing one of those on in the near future.
i also have this red dial kamasu and also jdm. paid 200usd for it. watch is really stunning. i dont think it will ever leave my wrist! i wanna use kanji date wheel too but i actually use the watch to tell what day it is. so ill just settle with english datewheel
For half the price of this Kamasu, you can get an Orient Ray 2. Both watches have the same movement. My Ray 2 runs +5 seconds fast per day. Not bad for a watch costing one half the cost of the Kamasu.
Just got mine also in red and just finished resizing it tonight. The dial is truly gorgeous in person. Got it from the same place but for ¥29,800. They bumped up the price shortly after to ¥34,600 😂 Love it but will most likely upgrade the bracelet later on.
Hi .... I have a Mako II and its a great watch and a a good value for around $150 bucks. I really do wish that Orient would increase the diameter of the crown. Maybe because i am left handed is why I find this difficult to use. It unscrews just fine, but screwing it back down I find challenging. Just my two cents worth.
I sold my 2010 Rolex Submariner because I was bored with it and am patiently waiting for my red-dial Kamasu to come in the post. That red dial plus the day-date complication sealed the deal for me. The submariner was at +6 secs/day so it will be interesting to see if the Kamasu beats it. If it doesn't, I'll regulate it myself, something I was too scared to try with the Sub.
Prefer the green/teal version mostly because it has a matching bezel. Not a fan of two tone watches with mismatched dials and bezels, but that’s just my own personal taste.
I'm hoping strapcode will make a bracelet for this. They've already made ones for the raven, mako and trident. You should also mention that if people don't like the burgundy, there's other colours, and the blue sunburst looks great too.
I ordered this exact model number from Amazon Japan after viewing this video because I wanted the Kanji day wheel. The listing said made in Japan but when the watch arrived it had made in Thailand stamped on the case back instead of "Japan movement". It still has the Kanji day wheel though and all the product literature is in Japanese. Anyone know what happened here? It was sold by Amazon Japan and not a 3rd party seller. Still looks great though!
Agree with you about the finishing - the case could be made to look more expensive with a sharper transition between the brushing and polishing. It looks slightly cheap imo on what is otherwise a really nice watch.
The Kamasu and the Kano are two new models that came out of nowhere a while back. Both have a gorgeous looking red version. The Kano one is black dial with a burgundy bezel, and has black bay stylings. You should check out the Kano at some point.
Colin Goh I have a Triton and a Ray II. I would go with the Triton, if the slightly larger size and weight is OK. I have found that I really like having the power reserve dial of the Triton. That being said, I wouldn’t mind having a green (really a teal color) Kamasu.
there is a new version which I think is the new version of the Triton, the model is RA-AC0K01B10B, I've got the black version but I have to see it yet, it look stunning. Also have the Kamasu blue with black bracelet and it is amazing too.
Except I got my SKX J version for 217.00 U.S. less than 2 yrs ago. this price point is not the same as skx. I have the Orient Ray which I do enjoy also...
Looks like they cut corners on the lume. In macro shot, you can see they don't fill up the indices. Also the bezel design, while looking good, makes it harder to get an aftermarket ceramic bezel insert to replace that aluminium one due to the indentations.

Cut to chase excellent movements cases bracelets etc. Its a Tie Equal The Blue ray has a little bit of a sunburst dial that pings in the sun this watch has a well interesting crimson > But is it matt , reflective, Sunburst? The Dial is way makes the watch different . I see the pics what do owners see? Cheers Richard
Agreed, its F6922 is an accurate movement. My slightly different Kamasu model RA-AA0810N19B is giving daily results of plus zero, 4, 2, 5 - that sort of thing.
im actually torn on getting the red or the blue kamasu. Wanted to get a diff color face for a sports watch for a change and been always going back and forth which might be a better one.
Disappointed. I guess I didn't realize what I was getting in to. A $450 CA 'automatic' Diver seemed pretty cool though a little retro. Lots of positive reviews. I didn't really expect that it would loose approx 20 seconds a day (thats within specs).

I hope I dont have any real issues because customer support seems not existent. I do receive all the Orient promotional emails though.
The Kamasu is simply the best watch ever in it's price category.
I’m a 19 year old who’s just recently got into watches. Just bought this watch as my first diver for 250 in green! Thanks for the informative videos, really help me!
where did you buy that green watch
You can get them on either Long Island Watch or Orient Watch USA.
bobbyka8 I actually got it on amazon
Excellent choice, these things last forever, I have a 3 star model from the late 1970s. Still ticking away happily till now. 👍
Green is beautiful , Nice buy , are you on grinder ?
I'm wearing mine now. The red dial has so many different personalities depending on the ambient light. For the money it punches way above its price point. It runs at +4 sec a day. Hows it holding up today? Been interested in getting one for a daily beater and also in red as its my favorite color.

I bought the black and gold model, and my workmate thought it was an Omega. Well done, Orient!
Oriënt is a tad underrated in the watch community
Oriënt is a tad overrated in the watch community. Especially the Bambino.
I had a Triton and liked it but the movement was a let down and good luck finding parts if something breaks (which it did).
@@JeeGee114 report because lie

I just got my Kamasu a few weeks ago, it was from japan. No import fees, fast shipping. Great watch.
One thing I particularly like about the Kamasu is that, unlike most Orient watches, the minute hand actually reaches the minute markers.
I was lucky to get one of the red dial versions when they first came out. Terrific value.
Great watch and value. Thanks for the video
So happy I found this channel. This guy speaks my language and focuses on the good stuff. Also like how the sumo is in the background in some shots showing off
I appreciate that. Welcome!
Just bought this and luckily runs about 6sec fast per day. Wears so well. The dial is slightly beveled and is actually 38mm which is great.
In the past few weeks, I ordered a Luminox Colormark chronograph, returned because it was extremely bulky and lume was weak. Orient, the independant brother of Seiko. He got the look, the charm and quality is just good.
The combo with the milanese strap is awesome!
How do you get that Milanese strap?
That was the question I was going to ask, did you find out??
I've owned this red Kamasu since it release, I love it for what it is. I wear it on car seat style bond nato and people seem to think it is more expensive than it is. It gets noticed and complements. The watch is well worth the msrp.

That mesh bracelet makes it look super nice and the rubber looks good too
Own 2 of them and I really like both of them. The Red and the Green.
I am thinking about Green. Which 1 you will select if you want to select only 1
hey, im having trouble choosing, which one would you recommend for everyday use?
Finally someone that’s says the real price of the watch 👏🏽
Wow Seikos with aligned chapter rings. Unbelievable!
I have a Orient Mako 2 it either loses or gains one second a day, very happy with it. In general a great buy.
This is ridiculous value for money that I don't see any other watch beating anytime soon tbh
This watch is addictive. I have recently bought Tissot PRX 80 with this one, which was more expensive but still I enjoy Kamasu more.
H. Moser does spectacular red dials. *Little bit* more expensive, though.
I'm wearing my Orient Blue-ray II and I have the blue Triton on order from jomashop. I think I'm going to have to get this watch with the green/ teal dial. Thank you.
That watch would shine with a Uncle Seiko Razor wire bracelet. I would buy this over the lower end Seiko’s any day.

Very nice, may get a couple to give to my sons.
This or the ray mako is the choice for entry level divers. I'd spend the little bit extra for the Kamasu.
I agree with you
I bought the Kamasu because of sapphire crystal watch face. The Ray & Mako use mineral crystal.
@@josephk7530 Yeah the kamasu is the choice. Even though I don't need it I thought about picking one up.

It is a bit small. Would be hard to manipulate if you have large fingers. I found it adequate
Way to small. The crown makes or breaks the look of a watch to me...

Great review!

200 euros on amazon, ordered one this weekend
Where can I buy the Shell Cordovan strap, Bruce?
Hello does kamasu really have a sound when you shake it? This is my first automatic watch so im not sure if its normal
My answer is late but I hope you’ll read it.
Yeah it has some sound kind of “cute “ jingle sounds.
Lume wise, it just beat the seiko in Jody´s lume wars video and ended up on 2nd place after a microbrand watch...
very close to 50k soon!
There is no high-end manufacturer which produce a red dial diver at least from my knowledge. it's such a shame, the red sunburst dial is awesome.
Well, Orient had the red Pro Saturation Diver.
Hey Bruce, great video! I'm currently deciding between the Triton and the Kamasu. Do you think the Triton is worth the extra $100?
Colin Goh I have a Triton and a Ray II. I would go with the Triton, if the slightly larger size and weight is OK. I have found that I really like having the power reserve dial of the Triton. That being said, I wouldn’t mind having a green (really a teal color) Kamasu.
I like the Triton more in every aspect except the brushed handset
It depends on your wrist size. If yours is 6.5 or under then get the kamasu
there is a new version which I think is the new version of the Triton, the model is RA-AC0K01B10B, I've got the black version but I have to see it yet, it look stunning. Also have the Kamasu blue with black bracelet and it is amazing too.
Where can you get this in the UK? And what's servicing like?
Except I got my SKX J version for 217.00 U.S. less than 2 yrs ago. this price point is not the same as skx. I have the Orient Ray which I do enjoy also...
jonnie 190 except the SKX does not cost 217 now and you can get a kamasu on jomashop for 200
Looks like they cut corners on the lume. In macro shot, you can see they don't fill up the indices. Also the bezel design, while looking good, makes it harder to get an aftermarket ceramic bezel insert to replace that aluminium one due to the indentations.
True the markers are lume printed on metallic appliques. Same as the turtle and sumo. Ceramic would have been nice but added to the price
@@BruceWilliams I was talking about aftermarket ceramic bezel insert, like the gazillion ones available for the SKX.
Do you have a link to the black shell cordovan strap?
Am I really worried about 1 minute every 2 to 4 days. I would suggest until the advent of quartz that would be considered very accurate.
Leaps and bounds above any Seiko at this price point.
Is this sapphire Crystal watch?
yes
